- Q: My A\C and Heater have problems keeping up in Hot\cold weather. Its summer now (I live in the Stl area) and when its 90+ sunny my house will not get colder than 80 degrees A\C going non stop. The A\C is putting out anywhere from 59-62 degrees and from what I can tell is sized properly. In my ceiling is blown in insulation at about 4-5" sitting just above the 2x4s some places more some less. The vaulted ceiling being a little more at around 6" Is this enough? Is my problem the Heating\Cooling unit or is there not enough insulation?
- The minimum ceiling insulation should be R-30, with R-40 being the norm in the northern part of the U.S. The depth of insulation required to produce a R-30 depends on the type of insulation. Blown-in fiberglass will have about R-2.25 per inch, blown-in cellulose has about R-3.5 per inch and fiberglass batt has about R-3 per inch. In case you're not sure what type you have, fiberglass insulation looks like cotton candy, while cellulose looks likes ground-up newspaper. Batts are the best to install as there will be less airborne particles to breath, get in your eyes, etc. You just cut them to size and lay them across the ceiling joist so they seal any gaps caused by the ceiling joist, fans, light fixtures, etc.
- Q: What kind of materials do you need to decorate a house?
- wood
- Q: The working principle of optical fiber
- Optical fiber Mainly the use of the principle of total reflection, so that light only occurs, no refraction, loss is the smallest
- Q: There are a lot of wires and tubing between the joists and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to work the insulation around them or just lay the stuff over it. Seems like if there was a problem with the water or electricity, finding the wires and such would become a problem with them tucked under the insulation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- most installations have the insulation on top of the items. But you don't say whether it is a suspended ceiling. If it is, definitely on top for ease of tracing but if it is a sheet rock ceiling you should go through and move what you can and then document the piping etc and lay it on top. Then you have a map of where the tubing goes. That's what I would do for my peace of mind.
- Q: Moved into a new home several months ago and noticed that the seams in the ceiling connecting the drywall can actually be seen in one room. Is this a common problem?? and what can be done. Do I have any recourse??
- it happens when the drywaller has a bad finisher. They should have applied compund to the seams to make it look seamless in the end. You can do this yourself or hire someone to do it. When you are done the compound work, you , of course, will have to re-paint.
- Q: Home improvement, tooling need to use what decorative materials, all have their own purposes, ask you prawn
- Large construction team can be divided into hydropower, fire, air conditioning, mud, wood, paint, Each team needs the material is not a few words can be said clearly, but also what purpose, the more detailed the better? Your question is too general, haha
- Q: What is the classification of wallpaper in the end
- There are many kinds of what you want to know?
- Q: Glass fiber plant to waste silk down in our here, this is harmful to our living environment?
- In the past, they are sometimes used to do ceiling cotton, and now have been eliminated. It is because they cause damage to the human respiratory system, so the state put this thing included in the ban on the list.
