Q:Our living room carpets really stained, and no matter what we use to clean it...It doesnt work. Even if professionals do it it looks like nothing helped. Any suggestions on gettin it clean?
umm new carpets arent that expensive and i would get a stain master carpet and rent a carpet cleaner once every three months.
Q:I recently bought an ikea rug, which isn't exactly an area rug, but is big enough not to put in a washer. I vacuum it regularly, but it is a white rug with big colourful blobs, and the dirt off of my feet can be seen in certain spots.. I was wondering if anyone knew how to clean it.. I was just going to buy a carpet cleaner and scrub it, but there are multiple spots with dirt. Also, I'm not sure if the colours are going to bleed if I try to do that.. I don't really want to buy a steam cleaner, but I guess if that is my only option.. but again i don't want the colours to bleed.Any info is appreciated! Thanks!
The clothesline and backyard hose approach is what I do with small section rugs. in case you have any way of soaking it with a carpet cleansing answer first, that helps plenty. There are backyard sprayers that can try this actually properly. do no longer use a detergent, or any purifier that makes suds. it incredibly is too demanding to get all of it out and any remants would have a tendency to charm to airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dirt whilst they are dry. Even windex may well be extra suited than no longer something. attempt to do it on an afternoon whilst it incredibly is going to likely be heat and dry for long sufficient to get the rug a minimum of quite often dry till now you deliver it indoors.
Q:So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.
Q:What is the best quality area rug material. like are vinyl or wool rugs the best
I have always had hard wood floors, so I use area rugs and rug runners under foot. I have found that the best rugs are wool rugs. My all time favorite rugs are hand hooked rugs. They are very durable.
Q:I am just wondering in the 30's 40'5 and 50's how they cleaned carpets in there house. I know at some point the vacuum cleaner was invented but for actual carpet cleaning (with a carpet cleaner) how did they clean the carpet. I am not talking about spot cleaning either but all over carpet cleanings. Thankss
Foam shampoo machines were invented in the 40's. I still use them, I have a few Electrolux dry foam machines. I like better than the hot water extractor machines. Most carpets prior were actually rugs and they took them outside and beat them. I don't know what they used to spot clean a rug. We were too poor to have any. I expect they used soap and water and a brush and towel.
Q:I have a rug that will not stay put.I have tried the special stuff that they sell to put under rugs to help keep them from slipping. It didn't work.I have dried this special spray stuff that works kind of like the scrapbook glue that you can you can move about. It makes it like a restickable sticker. The sticky wears off quickly though.I have even tried putting felt on the back. That didn't work either. The floor I have it on it my bathroom floor. The tile in there is cheap. It is like the tile on the school floors. (I live in an apartment so I have no choice in that matter.) Part of the problem is also that my cats play tag and the rug seems to be base.Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep this rug from slipping so much?
A rubber-backed rug often works in bathrooms, especially on tile. Check in a craft or fabric store for rubber sheeting, then simply stitch it to the back of your rug - or you might want to use something like velcro to adhere it - and remove before washing.. I'm not sure if you can purchase rubber-backed rugs anymore... But - be careful trying to clean it, as most rubber will melt in a hot dryer.
Q:How do I get the carpet joint?
Two kinds of methods of carpet seam (1) with sew two pieces of carpet bottom connected. (2) the glue on the adhesive tape should be heated to melt and paste. Iron can be hot melt, will be on it. When pasted, the adhesive tape is placed at the joint of the carpet. An iron is used to melt the adhesive on the paper surface, and the other is to press the carpet on the adhesive tape that has just been melted.
Q:What is a carpet ironing belt?
Carpet hot belt is a kind of advanced imported adhesive material composite, stable performance, safety non-toxic, strong adhesive force, high temperature resistance, flexibility, not easy to crack materials.
Q:Normal household carpet. NOT industrial carpet. Per square foot.
it varies..depends on the quality of the carpet...use google !
Q:My lil' sister had a sleep over in our living room the other night and her and her friends got chewing gum walked into the carpet in about 5 places.. It's an old carpet but that's not the point really, its dried solid hows best to remove it?
Freeze it and use a butter knife, can use ice or buy a can of gum remover.
