Q: I'm building another computer to give to someone, i have all the parts and when it got down to installing the CD drive and the Hard drive i plugged the sata cables into the motherboard but when i looked to install them to the power supply mine did not have any of those cables. Q: everything was working great! and then i blew the main fuse! i replaced it everything was fine after that but then out of nowhere i only have power in half of the power cable connected to the amp!! What can i do??: Not sure what power in half the power cable means. Are you saying (for example) you have a 6 foot power cable coming off the battery to the amp and only 3 feet has power and the other 3 feet doesn't? I would isolate the power wire from start to finish. I would bypass the power wire by running an external wire from the battery terminal to the amp. Basically, disconnect the old power wire from the battery (or source of power) and amp. Then run a temporary wire from the battery to the amp. If everything works then something is wrong with the original power wire.

Q: Do I have to use a fuse for the power cable on an amplifier, if the amp is only a 350 watt amp?: The reason you need a fuse on the power cable is that if the power wire gets shorted to chassis metal, and you don't have a fuse near the battery, the wire will overheat. When it overheats, it will scorch or ignite anything next to it. Any wire connected to the battery, no matter how large, needs to have a properly rated fuse installed as close to the battery connection as possible.

Q: what would happen if i used a 10 guage power cable on a 2400 watt amp, would it blow the fuse of would the amp just creat less power? thnx: 10 gauge should only be used to go from amp to speakers because its such a short distance. according to rockford fosgate you will lose 1157 watts of your possible 2400 watts possible. in short it would cause close to 50% less power and you would probably fry your power cable. and if you go above 2,000 watts it is actually unsafe to run smaller than 1/0 gauge power wire.
