Q: My wife and I are buying our first home. The current owner has new carpet in the living room, stairs and upstairs hall way. We are not going to have the funds to change the ruugs right away so we will need to paint around them. Currently the walls are white and we do not really care for plain colors, but want to stay somewhat conservative. The furniture we are chosing is probably going to be lighter fabric. Also, what wood would look best? We are changing the railing. I was thinking a lighter wood with white pickets.
To tone down the uber-greenness of the forest green rugs, a nice neutral beige would be good and would warm up the room considerably. If you want to break up the vast expanses of green, opt for a cream-colored rug. Warm wood-tones will be good, like a rich honey color. After seeing that space, perhaps a nice earth-tone, such as terra-cotta or honey brown would be best. It would distract from the darkness of the rug and make the room look much richer.
Q: Can I use a fabric dye (RIT), and just paint it on the 3quot; wide border? Want to change from present light blue to dark brown.jackie
I have worked with Rit dyes quite frequently and although they are good dies for natural fibers, I am not sure painting a boarder will net the results you desire. First of all, the dye has to be mixed with salt. Because you will not be able to rinse and spin the dye out of he rug, that salt will just remain in your rug when the dye has dried. This may leave salt crystals in your rug along with making it quite stiff. And,because the dye is wet, it will certainly bleed outside of the boarders of the rug. Another problem is the dye bleeding onto the floor causing permanent damage. Even if you can jump over these obstacles, the dye will remain in the rug, full strength because it can not be rinsed and spun out, so it can easily transfer the color from the rug to your shoes to other areas of the house. And, heaven forbid, if the rug gets wet at a later date it will reactivate the dye and boy I will hear you cursing from here. So, you see, using this type of dying process is really full of challenges and there is too much to go wrong so I do not think it is worth the risk. However, there may be other dyes I am unaware of. Do an internet search on dyes and also rug dying to get some helpful hints and possible products that will net you the results you are after. I have lots of resources that I will check on and edit my answer if I get more information.
Q: How do I remove the tea stains from the carpet?
Sponge it in water, and dry it in the same way.
Q: I am looking for new horse rugs for 15hh, 16hh and 11hh horsesI need some rugs, preferbally saxon and/or eurohunter .Under $150 for the 15hh, and under $100 for the other two, i will not be buying them until, well, at the latest, after my birthday in march next year.Plz help!
Blankets, okorder / It's $109.00, just over your budget for the two, but I suppose you could spare $18.
Q: I just bought two six week old puppies today; one for me and one for my boyfriend. we both love them to death but the thing is, I have a rug in my living room everytime we put them on the floor, they poop or pee on it. I guess the reason why is because its brown have pieces that come up as if its grass. the poop is real hard to clean out of it. I asked my mom to take it out the living room but I dont think she will. When we catch them doing it, we hurry up pick them up take them outside but by time we take em out, they're done. Its confusing because we think they want to get off the couch play but instead they poop pee then get right back on the couch fall asleep. my mom doesn't know that they've done it yet. What can I do to stop them from pooing peeing on this carpet?
Your fine useful resource is the nearby animal refuge! Talk to the persons who run the refuge approximately what taking good care of a puppy manner. Even greater, volunteer to spend a while serving to the refuge out. You'll get a well inspiration of what a puppies every day requisites are. Don't make the error and suppose that a small puppy does not want as so much undertaking as a significant one. Sometimes it really works in inverse and at the same time so much in their power stage is determined by the breed, as soon as in a at the same time you'll be able to get the exception to the guideline. Once you are making the alternative and do get a puppy, make investments a while in categories. The nearby refuge and PetSmart are a few satisfactory locations to discover categories for each and every stage of puppy possession and each and every stage of puppy. These categories will aid you within the finding out curve of bringing dwelling a dog and are an invaulable useful resource as you are going to meet different homeowners who can grow to be side of your help community.
Q: My vacuum cleaner picks up large amounts of powder every time I vacuum. The powder color is light grey and I am worried it may cause health issues for my family.I had the carpet professionally cleaned twice, but the powder is still there. What could it be? Should I have it lab tested? Please help!!
it's probably not powder, it sounds more like carpet fibers and yes it will cause health problems. My son was affected by carpet fibers, we had to go through chest xrays, mri, and countless visits to the doctor along with several prescriptions for inhalers before the city health inspector came into my home and determined the problems my son was experiencing were a result of the berber carpet we had throughout our home. The carpet breaks down when you walk on it and vacuum it, that gets lifted into the air and you breath it in. It's not dust, it's not powder, it's synthetic fibers. We had all carpet removed and replaced it with tile, my sons symptoms disappeared.
Q: can chemical fiber carpet be mopped?
The carpet generally cannot be mopped, it is not easy to remove dust, a vacuum cleaner is suggested; or brush completely
Q: Did you realise that professional carpet cleaning is recommended every 6-12 months? How often do you have your carpet cleaned? Who cleaned your carpet was it a company or did you clean your carpet yourself?
I see that this is basically an advertisement for your carpet-cleaning company, which is fine with me. Lots of people don't keep their carpets very clean. Others rent those stupid carpet-steamers from the stores, then soak their carpets and their carpet pad gets musty and rotten. I have a Bissell steam cleaner, and I steam my carpet every 2 weeks. I once used a professional carpet cleaner, and they (incorrectly) scrubbed a stain very hard by hand and damaged my carpet. Another professional cleaner was unable to get cat-urine odor out of a carpet (I know, it's one of the hardest odors to remove). I bought some Unique Pet Odor and Stain Eliminator, which is the only product I have ever used that works on cat urine, and was able to remove the odor myself. I have 9 cats and a dog, which explains why I have to clean my carpet frequently.
Q: New carpeting was just laid in the place I just moved into, and it smells like there's mold either in the carpeting or padding, I'm not sure which. I'm guessing it's the carpeting.Does anyone know if a solution of white non-sudsing ammonia would kill the mold?If not is there anything I can do about it without having to call in a professional?
Ok okorder . ALSO, when you sprinkle the baking soda on, LEAVE IT for awhile, walk on, forget about it, vacuum it up later, it won't hurt a thing.
Q: I have a rug in my bathroom, the fluffy kind with the rubber bottom that you step out on after you get out of the shower. It's kind of funky and needs to be washed, but I don't know how I'm supposed to wash it. Can I just throw it into the washing machine like a towel as long as I run it on the cold cycle? And if so, can I dry it in the dryer or does it need to hang dry? Thanks for your help!
I have always washed and dried my bathroom rugs in the washer and dryer. I have done this for years without any problems. Just don't leave the rug in the dryer for too long. Just enough to get nice and fluffy. Good luck. Carolyn
