- Q: A pen broke open on the carpet and without my knowledge, my dad went and sprayed rubbed it with Windex which I'm pretty sure it made it worst. I looked online and tried using hairspray and vinegar water but it hardly helped. Should I try nail polish remover or baking soda? Please help!
- Try nail polish remover, Warning it will look worst before it gets better!!! What I do is get nail polish and paper, towels cotton balls etc...and pour so nail polish remover then dab dab dab....throw cotton balls away when they are used up and get a new one...it will take a while but it should work...
- Q: What if I went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of rubber cut to just a bit less than 8' x 10' and then a piece of felt the same size - glue them together and pop the area rug on top?Would that work?
- Hi Blue Eyed Homo, I am a flooring associate that works at The Home Depot, and I know that some rug pads seem to be expensive, especially in your size. I've worked in other departments and been with the company for almost 10 years and I have yet to see a sheet of rubber that will sell in the store other than pan liner for tubs that would work in your situation. Also, you won't find at our store pieces of felt in that size. Plus, felt just won't be able to grip the rug properly especially if you have a hardwood floor. Did you check around your local stores flooring department? I think I may have a less expensive solution for you. Carpet padding, not rug pad, but the kind ppl place under their carpets. It may not look pretty but its made to not be seen anyway and it works great for big area rugs your size. Home Depot sells carpet pad in pre-cut 6ft. by 9ft. rolls or have your flooring associate there cut out a size for you. Bottom line....the carpet pad will be way less expensive than the rug pads we sell, and you'll still have a slip resistant surface for your new area rug for years to come. - The vacuum is good to use to pick up the bugs and their fuzzy larvae. Vacuum a lot. Spray is not needed.
- Q: I just purchased an indoor-outdoor rug for my kitchen. - If you haven't already, try a rug liner. These sit on the floor between the hard floor and the rug and help to keep the rug in place. Also, gently iron the rug to try to remove the wrinkles - just be careful if there is an olefin content in the rug, as it is prone to being easily damaged from ironing. The final option is double-sided carpet tape - there are some kinds easily available on the market that are guaranteed to be removable from most hard surfaces with minimal effort. Good luck!

- You need to buy a rug pad. It's a piece of rubber like fabric that goes under your rug and prevents the rug from moving, bunching or curling on hard floors or carpet. You can get one at Bed Bath and Beyond for like 70-100 bucks... kinda pricey I know, but you may be able to find them cheaper.
