- Q: I'm new at pressing my mac pigments. I recently bought a bunch of mac pigment samples. I have two of each color with eaxactly 1/4 tsp in each. I read that your supposed to press with 3/4. Is it okay to press with less than 3/4?
- Hi! Yes, definitely. You don't have to have exactly 3/4 tsps for it to work. 3/4 tsp might be the measurement needed to fill an eyeshadow pan, if that's where you're pressing your pigments. But then again, it's up to you if you want to fill the pan or not. You don't actually have to be very scientific about pressing pigments. Basically, keep dropping a few drops of 91% alcohol, mix it, and once it gets to the point that it's the the mixture holds/clumps together (you don't want it to be runny, and you'd know if it's still dry). If you put too much alcohol, you shouldn't worry b/c it dries up anyway. It just makes it hard to shape and press it. That's why the key is to put a few drops of alcohol at a time. There's really no exacty # of drops to # of teaspoons of pigments. I've pressed a LOT of pigments myself, and I don't even measure how much I use. Just be sure that after pressing it (press it firmly!), leave it open to air dry :)

- Yes you can still build an impressive chest without a bench press. Body weight exercises like range from the basics like push ups and pull ups, to the more extreme like muscle ups and planches. Will weight lifting stunt growth? Absolutely not. This is a very common misconception, and comes from a poor understanding of the body. Growth is primarily controlled by our hormones. Weight lifting (like any physical sport) will increase lean mass and the production of testosterone, which will facilitate (not impede) growth. Physically, the only way to stunt growth is to cause trauma to Epiphyseal Plates (growth plates) located at the ends of the long bones. So the only way to cause this damage in weight lifting, is to drop a weight directly on these plates, like the knee or elbow. You are much more likely to cause this sort of trauma in almost any sort of contact sport like hockey, football or soccer.

- Yes it can be really effective cause there is a load of different exercises you can do with the bench press. There are exercises to target every muscle group that you can do with the bench press so just do those with light weights and high many reps. But diet is very important if you wanna loose weight. So dont just do the normal chest exercise look up some other exercises to do also so you target all muscles correctly

- It all depends in what shape you are in and how developed your muscles are for lifting if you just started lifting then your ahead of most since you can at least lift your own weight which many people cant

- This is a question that only you can answer. Only you know your capabilities, and if anybody demands more than you are capable of, you need to tell them to go fly a kite. Clint Eastwood put it succinclty: A good man always knows his limitations. This doesn't mean that you should sell yourself short either. You should constantly strive to overcome your own limitiations, but there is a limit to everything, including how much your maximum bench press should be. Just try to improve your maximum bench press weight gradually, adding a few pounds from time to time. You don't mention what position you are playing for the football team, but that is important. If you are an interior lineman, you should be stronger than a wide receiver or a defensive back. The latter positions stress running speed and agility more than strength. Set realistic goals for yourself and try to reach them. Your next goal should be 150 pounds with the same number of repetitions. Keep adjusting your weight lifting goals upward, but keep in mind that you need to stretch those muscles too, or you will be prone to muscle strains, the most common sports injuries. I have included a link below to a yoga site which will help with this. Don't forget that rest and recuperation are very important too. Work your upper body on alternating days, and the lower body in between. I wish you a great football season, both individually and collectively.

- Hey- the difference between the press you have the link to (or most other panini presses) and a Foreman grill is that a panini press has a heavier top, and/or you actually manually press down on the food to make distinct lines on the food, and to press it together- especially sandwiches that have a lot of cheese, or certain stuffed french toasts, etc. A Foreman grill does have a hinged top, but you merely lay the lid to the grill down, and don't press. The top lays on the food, and cooks both sides, but without squishing/pressing it. A Foreman, too, is mostly for cooking meats, you can certainly cook other things on it, but they are angled downward to make the fat drip out, where a panini press is usually more level. If I was wanting to make veggies or other sides, or something gooey, I would prefer the panini press because the Foreman would make the food slide down. (I have a Foreman, no press, yet- but I have worked at coffee shops that have them). I think a panini press would be an awesome Father's Day present, I really do. Even if he has a Foreman, the press is great. Good luck~

- generally speaking force some new adaption through accessory work - Joe's advice is decent but I will add the concept of adjusting the load by adjusting frequency. Consider a 5x5 linear progression on a barbell bench press for example - you can use this as an accessory still - but it will allow you to shift a heavier weight rather than go for the endurance/hypetrophy training of multiple sets of 8-10. It is generally acknowledged that 3 reps is for power (such as a power clean/olympic lifts) 5 is for strength training (like starting strength/ 5/3/1 / Stronglifts/texas method) and 8-12 is body builder/hypertrophy range. I like to ensure when I plateu that I consider all of these rep ranges to provide a new stimulus to the area. Some fundamental things to also consider: Diet - particularly increasing calories, to a lesser extent, ensure you have enough carbs to burn in the session - this is generally an issue for low-carbers though, not the general population (who already eat too many carbs). I hate these people who say drink 7 litres of water every 2 minutes or you will die! (ok, exaggerating :) but you know the type...) but I would say drink a small cup with every meal/decent snack you have (assuming you have about 6) Rest - if you noticed your sleep going from a nice 8 hours to a meagre 5 + 1/2 then you need to consider going to bed earlier.
- Q: Luckily, my acne has gone down, and it isn't too bad now. I still have to cover up some areas though. Normally, I put on a liquid concealer then a finishing powder to well, finish the look. However, sometimes I need to touch up and I can't exactly whip out a loose powder at any time so I want to try a pressed powder compact. Would this work fine? Any particular brands that you like?
