Q: Hello Everyone. Im a 23 year old female and I joined a new gym in which they have a bench press club. All males have to bench press their weight in 8 reps, while the woman have to bench 65% of their weight, 8 reps as well.I was a 3 sport athlete in high school and a collegiate softball player as well. I just graduated in December...I thought I think I wanna live up to the challenge and try to be in the bench press club. I weigh 148 which means I have to bench press 96lbs 8 times. Which doesnt seem like alot the only problem is I dont really know how to I train for this?? I always do cardio everyday, but dont bench press or light weights and its been 5 months since I lifted actively while I was in college playing sports.Granted they do have trainers at the gym, but their arms as as big as my head and I dont want to make myself look like a fool, lol! Not considering your injury as a fighter you shouldn't be trying to go too high and get muscle bound legs. If you can press 700 you might have a tree-trunk of a leg and it will be rooted to the floor like one. You want fast twitch in the smaller muscles to be able to have control over your legs for both kicking and supporting yourself. I don't think leg press is the best option either. It isolates the quads for aesthetic purposes. You'll look nice but you won't have the full cascade of muscles to have a great kick and you can end up imbalanced real quick too. You want to find more integrative movements that let you use you whole body or at least your whole leg cascade. As for the surgery, I can't speak much about it but I'd say listen to your doctor. If he says balls to the wall, go for it. But if he says you need to work in slowly or never go over a certain weight, listen to him. You might be able to kick the hell out of everyone but you're still a weak little child if you can't trust someone or take the advice of someone who inherently knows better.

How are you gripping and where on the bar are you gripping. When you come down with the bar, it should be on your nipple line and press up and slightly back, almost like an arch.
