Slip resistance:

Boards of Techwoodn according to ASTM D2394-05. This is the best ranking for bare-foot slip resistance.

Weathering resistance:

Boards of Techwoodn have very low moisture uptake.This is key for mold and mildew resistance.

UV resistance:

4000 hours accelerated Xenon-arc Exposure,the Boards turned slightly more clear and colored.

Abrasion resistance:

The resistance to abrasion is similar to oak.

Fungus resistance:

Whatever fungus the wood composite is exposed to,it is extremely durable.

Q: My front door leads into my living room. The oak floor right infront of the door is so messed up. The rest of the floor is fine. How do I do a good sand/cleanup job on just this part????: No matter what, if you don't do the whole floor your going to see the difference. Stain or no stain, the floor has aged and the surface has darkened, I'm assuming this door is an outside entrance door. A couple ways I would do this is 1: Tape off a section, be it square, rectangular,1/2 octagon, hexagon, circle, Whatever, make it look like an entrance landing. Sand and finish it however you want. 2: Cost more $ but would solve future problems, Again have a shape in mind, lay it out and cut it out. If need use build that section up with an underpayment made for this purpose. Replace that area with some nice slate tiles, or whatever you like using a thin set mortar.You can buy nice trim for the surface change

Q: is there different flooring that i could install over tile?: you can put pergo over tile. It's a wood laminate floor, looks like hardwood. You can install it over tile because it's a floating floor, you dont nail it down. There are also other types of this flooring, same general applicaiton

Q: The floors are brand new laminate floors, only about 2 months old. We just moved in here and our realtor told us to use Orange Glo to make them shiny. Biggest mistake I have ever made. It looked great at first but now the floors look like crap. They are hazy, no longer shiny, and collect dirt like you wouldn't believe. I just now used ammonia, vinegar, baking soda and water to remove the left over wax build up. It helped a little and right after I did that I went over the floors with Bruce laminate cleaner. I thought it worked really well until I walked over the floor and then looked back and saw my foot prints all over the floor. So my question is, why on these newly cleaned floors can you see my foot print where ever I walk and what can I do to stop that? Also, do you have any suggestions on removing the wax buildup? Thanks: Hi, Mit. Yeah, a pox on the rec for Orange Glow. Suggest you find out the flooring manufacturer's recommendations for floor care products (with such a new floor, someone should know who made it). I suspect the Bruce product is OK, just has to be repeated to get more of the residual Orange Glow & etc. We like the Bona line, but there are several good product lines. Persevere.

Q: thank u very much but sorry just wondering if wooden flooring would make a difference to the warmth of the floor: laminted flooring is a little cold but it look just as good as wood flooring and its probably cheaper than wood flooring to get it laid down it also last a long time my dad installed lamanete flooring lyk 5 yrs ago and it still looks good no chips or anything and many ppl wouldnt be able to tell the deference my aunts and uncles think we have real wood flooring and they come over my house lyk every 2 weeks so....i hope i helped

Is the hardwood finished floor squeaking, or it the squeak coming from the sub-floor (plywood under the hardwood? If you can access the plywood from below (like in the basement) there are brackets with screws you can use to re-secure the sub floor to the floor joists. (beams). If there is no access you can either nail or screw through the finished floor and then cover the nail/screw over. If you nail through the finished floor you need to drive the fastener into a joist. Often the squeak is the original sub floor rubbing against the joist. This happens when the sub floor becomes detached from the joist. Eric

Do I run them under the cabinet toe kicks or up to the and then run a bead of caulk?: joe...take off toe-kicks,floor underneath the cabinets(behind the line of the toe-kicks)rip down the toe-kicks and replace.remember the bottom edge of your toe-kick where it meets your floor is the most visible part...so its better to trim the upper edge before you replace thus keeping a machined edge to the visible side.toe-kicks are designed to be removed and replaced for cleaning purposes...if you run the flooring up and trim, not only is it much more work, it will look wrong too... the expansion gap with trim idea is right for other things;trimming around base board,fire-hearths etc.but not here!
