Q: I've looked at other answers and I think I need this explained in blonde language. Is there supposed to be an actual floor underneath a bathtub? Me and my fiancée have a place but the floor underneath the tub is nonexistant. Its basically a hole there. We live on the 2nd floor Tips and help would be great!
Don't sell yourself and blondes short. I hope there isn't a tub over the hole. If there is, I would also make the tub nonexistent at this point, for safety reasons. Water weighs 62.5 pounds per cubic foot. A full bathtub can weigh over 560 pounds from just the water in it (not including the tub and the occupant). The weight on the floor below can come close to 1000 pounds. This weight requires some very sturdy flooring underneath a tub. Often, builders will sister (run two joists side by side, attached to each other) joists running under a tub just to give additional strength. A hole in the floor does not sound encouraging at all. Since I'm not there with you, I can't see the hole and accurately judge exactly what condition your floor is in. Usually, holes under bathtubs are caused by water damage from a cracked tub, leaking drain, diverter, or supply plumbing. Whatever the source, the cause is almost always water damage. If you are renting, I would bring this to the attention of the landlord IMMEDIATELY. This is a serious safety issue. If he shrugs you off, remind him that if you drop in on your neighbor while bathing, he will face a lawsuit that will make fixing the floor seem like buying a pack of gum. If this is your place, get it fixed--NOW! Talk with a licensed framer about the problem. He is probably the best one for the money to address the issue.
Q: I have cold concrete floors that we had to remove the carpet & padding from because of water damage. Thinking of replacing with Cork Flooring. Can any one give me feedback as to how you clean it, durability to wear and tear of two large dogs (toe nails) and insulation specs? Thanks, Shany
Click on Visit Manufacturers Website and you will get some good tips, including the following. To help your cork floor keep its “just installed” look, try these preventive maintenance suggestions: Place breathable mats in front of sinks and in doorways Note: do not use mats with rubber or other non-porous backings since these could trap moisture and affect the finish Put felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scuffs When moving furniture; lift it, don’t drag it Place a drip pan under potted plants to catch water seepage Prevent fading from excessive sunlight with window treatments, like curtains, drapes, blinds, or with window tint When it comes to cleaning, cork flooring requires no special equipment or harsh chemicals. The basic steps are as follows: Wipe up spills immediately Note: cork is a wood product and therefore will absorb moisture To reduce scratches, sweep or vacuum regularly to remove abrasive debris To clean a heavier soiled area, use only a cleaner formulated for pre-finished hardwood floors I hope this helps. Q: I have laminated floors in everyone of my rooms, I tried cleaning them with vinegar, water, commercial products, but there are still streaks when the floor dries. What else can I do?
After i have cleaned mine I put an old towel on the floor and using the broom Just wipe dry it leaves them streak free and shiny looking
Q: Is there anything on the market that lets you huge marks on floors? My freind dropped something in my perfect living room floor and now it has a ugly mark.
If it's a hardwood floor, I've been told by flooring specialists that you can leave little puddle of water on the dented spot for a couple of days and it will cause the wood to swell back out, removing the dent. Just cover it with an upside down plastic bowl or something to keep from stepping in it. I tried this once with a hardwood floor (maple) and it took some of the dent up. Otherwise, you're looking at refinishing the floor (hardwood) or replacing a section of laminate.
Q: Solid wood flooring in the air-conditioned room why Alice
Floor quality department clearance, high water content, due to air-conditioned room dry, floor water evaporation caused by crack.
Q: I am having laminate floors installed on my 1st floor concrete slab. They keep testing the himidity. It has been to high. I have been running two dehumidifiers for 2 weeks, tore out my laminate floors.....What else can I do? Should I put a sealer on my floor? What kind- a waterproof or a water base????? HELP ME!!! THANKS!
Hi, If you are laying laminate over a concrete floor you should lay down a damp proof membrane (DPM) first to protect the laminate from moisture. If your floor is new the concrete has to have cured or you will have problems. Hope this helps.
Q: Floor tile commonly used size and floor tile type

Q: I just bought a new Honda Fit, and I'm planning on buying floor mats online, but I can't decide between all-season/all-weather floor mats and carpeted mats. I do live in Ohio, so yes, we do get rain and snow, but I don't know, the carpeted floor mats look so nice! What do you think? If I get carpeted floor mats, will they just stain and be hard to maintain?
any floor matt is better than none, but i suggest you get the all weather ones because, the carpeted ones will eventually stain. If you spill in your car and have rubber floor mats all you have to do is spray them off with a hose and your fine. Rubber floor mats don't fade like carpeted do, and don't hold dirt like the carpet. I also agree carpeted look better but rubber perform better.
Q: How about strengthening the wood floor? Businessmen say that the taste of jealousy earned braids spring OKorder formaldehyde standards, injury in the end there is a big What is the difference between $ 30 and what? Businessmen do not recommend using solid wood, said there is no strengthening the floor to take care of. Are you hesitating to use floor tiles or wooden floors? Please help under the reference. More
Personal recommendation room with reinforced floor. The The Dining room and living room tiles. Floor tiles better care. The The Not afraid of dirty. The Strengthen the floor is really better than solid wood care. The The Jubing jealousy earned braids spring sowing is also more wearable.
Q: im trying to clean the floors in my living room, but i was told not to use water or anything like that because it could damage the wood. we have laminate pergo floors in the house, what is something safe to clean it with that will still work well?
I damp mop my floors every week because we have animals in the house the they track in everything. I use Murphy Oil Soap and a damp mop, not wet. Wring it out real good and then just mop it like you would any floor. I've been doing this for over 3 years and the floor looks like new....except where someone dragged a chair on it. Oh well, that's life!
