- Q: I am making curtain tie backs out of rope...if any of you have suggestions, please help. Mostly, however, I want to know 1) how to attach curtain tie backs (cloth or rope) to the wall, and 2) do you just leave the tie backs hanging on the wall out in the open while the curtains are shut? Wont it look weird? 3) Where on the wall should you attach the tiebacks...next to the window or a fair bit away?
- You could do this a couple of ways. You could just get window hardware that takes the place of a tieback, that matches your drapery hardware and the curtain/drape just hooks over that rather than using an actual tieback. To use your tieback, you need a hook that will hold the two ends. Depending on how you want the curtains/drapes to fall and the fullness of them will depend on where you put the hook - further out from the window if very full. Yes, generally you would just leave the tieback there, hanging out, until you use them again. Usually though, where you place the hook will allow the drapes/curtains to cover the tieback when not in use (as well as the hook).

- Q: Im redoing my M.bedroom and bath. I just purchased a new chocolate comforter for my bed. I have oak flooring and a king mahogony 4 poster bed. The comforter is different textures velvet, satin, fur with each making a 12 inch stripe down the comforter. The satin has a little gold swirl in it. That is the only color besides the chocolate. - I would use a cream or light gold color on the walls with gold sheers for the windows. You could do a chocolate accent wall in the bath to bring the color in there.

- Q: Hello,Im trying to design a building and it is supposed to have a large curtain wall (length 36m and height 5m). I understand that the panels can be framed (with mullions clearly visible) or bolted together (mullions not visible). I would like to be able to swing open some of these panels to form windows. If this is possible, what is it called and how is it possible to do all the attaching and bolting?
- You can have operational windows in a curtain wall. Call them vents, hoppers, bump-outs; there are various names for these types of windows. They are pretty much self contained window units that are inset into the curtain wall framing. The weight will depend on the material really. As well as the glass placed into it, and the operable window units. Might check the Kawneer, Vistawall, YKK websites for ideas.
- Q: its not infront of a window, so attaching to the frame is not a solution.i am hanging a family quilt using a curtain rod and these pincher hangers. the curtain rod screws into the walls. it came with little plastic anchors to put the screws in but if i try to put it in the wall crumbles. if i try to just screw it in the wall crumbles. can anyone offer advice. i can put small nails in the walls to hang pictures from but i dont think the rod and quilt would be supported by this.
- on the top of your windows are headers. these extend past the sides up to about 4ins. you will need a 1-1/2 nail or screw to get past the lathe and plaster.the metal anchors are ok . but only if it is hollow behind wall.
- Q: I am decorating my bedroom, i have a brown carpet, cream walls an hae just made a red feature wall with a large wihite pattern on it, at the moment my curtains are brown, but they seem to be making the room a bit dark, any other suggestions? i think red may be too much red as the feature was is on a large wallThank :)
- How about a patterned curtain with all 3 or even 2 of those colors? You could check at local stores for this, or even try a fabric store and have them made (or make them yourself if you are handy). But here's something to think about..What if you take the existing brown curtains pull them back and either have a cream colored sheer curtain or even cream colored vinyl mini-blinds? That way you are using up what you already have. The brown makes the room seem dark,but it will act as a great accent when pulled back. You could get something red for your tiebacks...ribbon, beads, whatever will look fun and different. Personally it sounds darling, have fun with it!!

- I did it with tension rods inside the window, also I saw in home depot they have some type of bracket that attaches to the inside of the window but gives the impression of a regular rod
