- Off white (shabby-chick) furniture and change all the knobs to big english drop pulls in an oil rubbed bronze or matte black.Pick up the design of the metal work on the bed somewhere like some black and white/cream toile wallpaper on one wall or lamp shades or draperies etc. in a black toile, not too much though or it will look overdone. I would get bedding similar too what is shown on the bed, it's perfect.Would also do walls in an off-white, this keeps things subtle/dreamy/romantic and will make the bedpop if your into that look. - My son has a captains bed. It definitely has pros and cons. It is difficult to make. I find it hard to get the sheets on it and my 10 year old son really has trouble with it. The bed has to say against the wall and things fall back behind the bed and are difficult to retrieve. It is pretty big, and since it has to be against the wall, you really are kind of stuck with where you want to put the bed. It is nice to have all the drawers under the bed, even though my son tends to leave the drawers open and that drives me nuts. Overall, if I had to do it again, I wouldn't get the captains bed. For me the negatives outweigh the positives.
