- My son went through the very same thing when he was about that age (he's now 20 months). We thought about moving him to a toddler bed but were afraid he wouldn't stay in bed and that it might become a safety issue. We decided to give it a bit more time and he completely changed his tune. Not that he loves going to bed at all but he is absolutely fine sleeping in his crib. You might want to give it a couple of months to see if he outgrows this phase; if he doesn't then you can try something different!
