- Q: We're replacing our decks railing, so I thought it would be nice to use it as a fence around some raised vegetable garden beds. We're planning on selling the house in 5 years or so, would this be appealing to buyers? A nice vegetable garden? Thanks!
- Not going to increase your value by a penny. As said earlier, some buyers may find it attractive, and others may find it a bother to be removed.
- Q: Also I have another question: If I move the entire group of sims will they get to keep all of the stuff from the former house?
- I believe you can buy books from the book shop on gardening and pretty much everything else. Then you can either put it away on the bookshelf or keep it in your inventory and click on it and read it whenever you want.
- Q: Do cucumbers planted in home garden need to be watered once a day or twince a day ? If there are two or more new small cucumbers on one branch, will they all become fruits that can be reaped ?
- once a day either early morning or later at night so the sun doesnt fry them. Yes the will grow with more than one on a vine. i put mine against my fench they will climb too for future reference and that makes them more stable and larger. but dont water when its sunny it will damage the plants.
- Q: I purchased a cookbook better homes and gardens year 1973 for a cookie recipe and that one pages missing if anyone could help me with that page was 147 recipe was refrigerator Crisps I need this specific recipe I don't want any other cookie recipes
- Those are really two different sources. Betty Crocker is one, Better Homes and Gardens the other. So far this is the only one I've found without baking powder. Peanut Blossom Cookies INGREDIENTS: 8 oz. pkg. milk chocolate kisses 1/2 cup butter, softened 3/4 cup peanut butter 1/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup light brown sugar 1 egg 2 Tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1-1/4 cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt more granulated sugar PREPARATION: Heat oven to 375 F. Remove wrappers from chocolate. Beat butter and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup sugar and brown sugar; beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture. Cover tightly and chill for 4-8 hours in fridge. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate piece into center of each cookie; cookie will crack slightly around edges. Let stand on cookie sheets for 3-4 minutes, then remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 48 cookies To freeze, shape dough into balls but do not roll in sugar. Place on waxed paper lined cookie sheets and freeze until firm. Pack into hard sided freezer containers; label, and freeze up to 3 months. To bake, roll frozen dough into sugar, then bake as directed, adding 3-6 minutes to the baking time. Here's one from my own files that always amazes me because it works. Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies INGREDIENTS 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup white sugar 1 egg DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Combine ingredients and drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool. Recipe doesn't make very many, so you could double recipe as you desire.
- Q: in my home garden, due to a lot of plants, there are a lot of mosquitoes, i know i could just use bug zapper at places but still it is a risk sleeping out in my garden or having dates in the garden and spending a lot of time in the garden, can i regularly spray Anti-Mosquito#92;Mosquito Killer Sprays on plants to get rid of mosquitoes? will it be bad for plants?will it also be bad for the vegetables those plants are producing?is there any other way to get rid of mosquitoes from garden?
- Hello Moon, My name is Gardengail and I work for the home depot in the garden center. Spraying a plant with an insecticide meant for the air is not a good idea, check the instructions on the back. Malathion is a good mosquito spray that works well in gardens. Using a bug zapper would help extend the effectiveness of the spray. Are these mosquitoes biting you? there is a large bug that is called a mosquito hawk that looks like a mosquito that is common to lawns that is non-biting. Spraying vegetables with a spray not designed for them is a really bad idea. Check the labels on the backs of the bottles of spray you use. Also check for puddles and birdbaths, the mosquitoes will hatch within a few days, dump the water out. Hope this helps, Gardengail
- Q: So my dad is usually stuck at home because he has to for certain reasons and he is unemployed, and he seems quite bored. He can't really go out for a job at the moment, so I'm looking for something he can try at home. I tried sitting down to generate some ideas for something he can do, but came out with nothing really worthy. Any good ideas? This is an optional part of the hobby/activity, but I also proposed the idea that I go bring him shopping to find a hobby, and he suggested something that will provide a little income since he is unemployed so it be even better if the hobby idea gave a chance for him to make money, too; like I said, it's an optional factor, and I'm really just searching for a hobby for him. Thanks for the answers!

- Q: The edition I had years ago would have been from around the late 1970s. The recipe was found in the Quick Breads section. It may also have been referred to as Orange Cranberry Bread.
- According to the writer at the attached blog, this is the recipe (from 1981). I have that cookbook but, unfortunately, it is at my parents' place, so I can't verify. I've made the recipe from the book, and the recipe in the link does seem to be the same. Hope this helps.
- Q: Hi,Ok well I want to start a garden this year and to also have a pond in the garden. Since we have 2 out door dogs were going to put a fence around it. I just want to know what are the best plants for moderate sun. Also we have rabbits and want to know if we can use their manure for fertilizer. Oh and we also want to grow vegetables.
- it depends on what you mean by 'moderate sun.' is it mostly shade, or is it only shady in the morning/or evening? Different plants like different things. Based on what I know, however, since you're wanting a pond in your (i guess, flower) garden, plant louisiana irises if the area you're going to plant in has full sun. they like to have their feet wet and faces in the sun. Don't use bunny crap as fertilizer. table scraps are better, as long as it's not a protein, fat, or oil. It should be plant based.
- Q: is it ok to put a tarp over your garden and cut holes out for the plant to come threw?
- you can but the bigger the hole the more weeds you gotta pull means more work you might be better the let the roots grow thru the tarp
- Q: the recipie i'm looking for, i believe, includes sweet n condensed milk.
- I think you make cajeta by placing a closed can of sweetened condensed milk in a pan with water and then in the oven for a few hours. I have tons of BHG annual cookbooks. I could look it up and email it to you later. Do you know what year the recipe came out?
