- Well you will need a 10 Amp or 14 Amp charger for your two batteries. I would make sure the transformer in the charger can handle at least 20 Amps and then it will never fail. Well maybe if the battery is almost flat. The higher the current that you need to charge the battery the higher the rated current of your transformer. If you draw more Amps than the transformer is rated for it will overhead and the transformer will fail. I make sure that there is always plenty extra power available and then it lasts for years.

- Return the charger and battery. Your problem is the charger and you were sold a bad charger. If the charger's light does not turn on, that means the charger is dead. I originally suspected the DC jack to be the problem but now that you mentioned the light isn't turning on means the charger itself is defective. - For the brick/box part, no. They are both the same animal. The circuitry around the battery charger to prevent battery overcharging and discharge (reverse flow) is contained within the box that holds the batteries (either the phone/camera/mp3 player or an actual battery charger). If you plan to try and use one for the other, make sure the output voltages are the same, as well as the polarity (many larger pieces of eqt will have a little diagram next to the power plug-in). However, to decipher that, it'll unfortunately require another question. The amperage should also be in the same ballpark, as that'll also affect the amount of juice the power supply designed to provide. Good luck!

- it doesn't have to be a dell charger, it can be a generic one that you buy online, but it has to be a replacement for the charger you have currently. If you know someone with the same type of laptop that would do fine, if not then you might just have to do without until you get a replacement. Just check the amps and the watts on the charger before using it, because they very from object to object.

- I had the same computer and loved it! The problem maybe that the battery isn't holding a charge. I would suggest that you keep the computer completely off/shut down. See if the computer will charge it completely after that. Also, it could the charger itself is bad. The computer battery finally went bad or some internal battery issue. I would try getting a new or different charger first. If you have a spare charger then try that first. If that doesn't work then try finding a new battery. OKorder and Amazon are your best bets for finding a battery at a good price. You'll pay through the teeth for one from a computer store. I'm rebuilding a Dell Latitude CPX and have bought computers just for their parts. I only have to get one other item and it will be up and running. Also, just google battery not holding charge and it will usually pop up sites that will give you helpful information how to diagnose the problem. There is also on Dell computers a way sometimes to see if the battery/power is working on your computer. I had a problem with one of my dells and was able just to type in device working properly in the search line and found out that the device was working. Good luck.
