- There should be nothing for you to open, dear lady. Is the memory card reader one that plugs into a USB slot? You should find open slots that your memory card simply pushes into. You do have the correct type of memory card that fits your memory card reader, don't you? Unfortunately, some types of memory card reader don't accept all types of memory card. (There are multiple different types of memory card.)

- It can be infected if the file was saved onto it, or if the virus is intelligent enough to save a part of itself on there, but in most cases memory cards are not affected unless you actually save an infected file onto it, which it sounds like you did. Basically your memory card is a small hard drive, so you can plug it into a port on your computer (if you have an appropriate card reader port on it) and have Norton scan it and clean off anything it finds.

- Q: I inserted a dodgy SD card in my camera. It worked ok. When I tried to eject it, it's stuck or something. I forced it out and put my other 'good SD card on. My screen keeps on showing Card Error when I put an SD card on. Works ok without the SD card though.
- Sounds to me as if one of the contacts is damaged inside the reader becaue of the force job you did. These things are so inexpensive these days just replace it and get rid of the dodgy card.

- Did the Merkury memory card reader come with a driver DVD or a software CD? If so, that DVD or CD software needs to be installed. Also, make sure you install the proper driver. If you have Windows 7 32-bit, install the 32-bit drivers, if you have windows 7 64-bit, install the 64-bit drivers. If the memory card reader didn't come with software, you really need to call up the company and get drivers or search for drivers on their website. Windows 7 is not recognizing the memory card reader most likely due to lack of installed drivers.
