Q: I have a sony via laptop charger that just went out , the problem is that my ac charger say 19.5volts to 3.5a. The Only ones i can located are 19.5volts to 4,7 amps. Will i hurt by using the one with the bigger amp ?
very possibly yes. check the specs on Sony's site for a replacement laptop charger. 19.5 V * 3.5 A 68.25 W 19.5 V * 4.7A 91.65 W ( nearly 50% more power, 50% more current) Get the correct charger - or at least get one that Sony says will fit your laptop. Else - be prepared to replace the motherboard, too.
Q: i got a motorola rival from a family member and it did not have a charger, so my friend told me she had found a charger to fit my phone, and the same charger works in the both of our phones and she tried it and it charged her phone but when i put it in my phone it says unauthorized charger. When i check the status of the battery it says charging but when i take the charger out it cuts off. please help me!-thanks
Some manufacturers put additional pins in the connectors just so they can be sure you are using their brand charger, even though lots of other brands would work just fine. You can call their customer service number and tell them you do not appreciate that sleazy trick and will not buy their brand again because of the inconvenience it forces on you. Then call some other brands and ask if they do that, so you will know what brand to buy next time. I have heard that the United Kingdom has been talking with manufacturers to get them to standardize their charger connectors so there won't be so many chargers being thrown away. Chargers apparently are clogging landfills there. They certainly are clogging Salvation Army stores in the USA.
Q: i guess my laptop is pretty old. it's a dell xps m140. i was wondering if you could buy laptop chargers separately. because my computer still works fine but the charger won't work any more. :/i wanted to get a few answers before i went out looking for some.thanks.
Yes. Brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy may carry brand/model-specific adapter, or a universal one (basically, it comes with different tips for different laptops). OKorder has something like that, as well. Alternatively, you can check out the Dell website for the adapter that you need. Also, try chatting up with a service representative to see if they'll help you get a new one.
Q: A few weeks ago my laptop charger stopped working. I took it to the software store, they determind the charger was bad (by using that electric voltage tester). So I bought another one and the laptop charged fine. Then last night I noticed the battery was low and I went to plug in the new charger and got nothing. Now it won't charge again. The battery has been replaced recently as wellCould my laptop be doing something to ruin the chargers? Any ideas?
Are you using OEM chargers? A laptop will pull a specific amount of power, if the charger is not rated to handle the charge being pulled, it will get burned out. While it may cost a little bit more to buy a certified charger from the manufacturer, you are actually going to save money by not having to buy other chargers, as well as reducing the substantial risk of damaging your laptop.
Q: how much is dell inspiron 1525 charger ?
Yes, Correct, the problem is charger. option number 2 is fine for you. you should return it to get refund. and buy more expensive model that has the L109 plug compatible with your laptop model.
Q: I just got a new puppy and he is AWESOME and i have dog proofed the house, but he likes to chew on my computer charger. My computer battery is low. Help?
Well as the others suggested I would recommend you keep the charger away from your dog. However, with a chewed up charger its very risky to continue to use it. It could cause serious damage to your laptop if a short circuit occurs, and they normally do with bad wiring. I would suggest you get a new charger as soon as possible and keep the new charger away from your dog. Make sure you get one from a reliable source instead of a cheap knock off on like OKorder or something. I would personally suggest you visit topmic charger. They are very reputable and have great service. They include free shipping, 30 days money back guarantee, and free lifetime warranty so if the charger ever stops working, they would replace it at no additional cost, for life. If you have any more questions feel free to sen
Q: A couple of months ago, I was using my laptop and It was on charged. I then realized my laptop stopped charging. I fiddled about with the wire, to see if it would work, but no avail. I plugged it into my sisters identical laptop to see if it would work, still no avail. The wire that's plugged to the adapter [the big box that the 2 wires that are plugged into] that you plug into the electrics is working properly seeming i tried it on my sister charger and it worked fine. My sisters charger works in my laptop as well.Any ideas what this could be? Also some Information about my laptop is that I had the laptop at christmas 2008. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L300D. The charger is 19v.Thanks for any help that you give me.
Replace your charger and if that doesnt work its the laptops battery but most likely its the charger. Its happened to me 3 times
Q: I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop and my charger just broke. It's rated for 19.5 V and 3.34 A, we had another charger laying around the house rated 19.5 V and 4.46 A, I plugged it into my computer and now it's charging fine, I just want to make sure it's okay as a long term solution. I just want to make sure it won't ruin my laptop. So is it alright to use a charger with the same volt but different amp?
I have the same laptop and I think it is, but you might want to get more advice than just listening to me
Q: How (on average) many *amps* does an 14.4volts car battery charger dish-out?
The typical 4 cylinder car requires about 300 amps to start, a V-8 might require 600 amps. If you're thinking about buying one buy one that's sized for your engine. I don't know about average because there's a lot of junk for sale called jump starters.
Q: I need to know the polarity of the LG sta-u35wr charger to see if it is compatible with my tablet, since the ac charger broke but the same amps and watts are produced by the USB charger as the ac adapter.
If it's made for charging that device then the polarity will be correct. Chargers and devices often have a symbol to show polarity, it's like the letter C with a dot in the middle and a line coming out from the dot leading to a +ve or -ve sign to tell you the polarity of the centre contact. Sometimes info is written or moulded on very small letters so it's hard to read. Another way is to use a multimeter and compare polarity with a working charger for the same device. You don't have to know which lead is which, just touch the probes the same way round on both (most chargers are +ve centre connection so I'd suggest putting the RED probe in the centre and the black on the outer connection. If the plugs show the same polarity then they are both suitable to use. A digital multimeter may have a -ve sign before the voltage reading, but if both plugs show negative they are the same. If one shows a -ve sign but the other doesn't then it's no-go. Meters don't usually show a +ve sign.
