Q:If I find a carpet remnant I like at a carpet store, for example, will they cut it to the size I want or will I be stuck with whatever size they have? Will binding the remnant be sufficient to use as an area rug or will I need something else?
The carpet store should be able to cut it for you, maybe you pay a little extra. For the binding they charge you anyway.
Q:We used a black light on our carpet last night and found black spots. When we turned on the lights we didn't see the spots. What stains turn black under black light?
Protein stains, such as urine, blood, semen, will glow with a whitish tint. I've checked a thousand carpets with a black light,in total darkness, mainly to assess the extent of urine contamination so a decision can be made to either treat the stains or tear the carpet and pad out. I have never come across black stains as you describe them. In any case, even after extensive hot water extraction cleaning, the glow will remain. In your case, whatever caused the spots you see is probably long gone from the carpet, just the residual effect remains, which is permanent.

My boy is a 14.3hh bay pony.I bought 3 Harrison Howard rugs for him.2 rugs for winter keep him dry and warm, and 1summer rug keeps him cool in the sun's heat .i think you should buy a waterproof summer rug and one turnout rug and one stable rug at least,

Q:Which rug should I get?
The second one
Q:have new carpeting. when I replaced the accent rug on top and placed dinette set on it, the accent rug curls up
Your accent rug is new and it generally rolls back as it was rolled when stored before installation. Try curling it the opposite way and leave in that condition for some time..When you open it again hopefully your accent rug lies straight.. Fix it and you're good to go! Cheers!
Q:I know you say quot;six by six foot rugquot; or quot;six sq.foot rugquot; but which of the above is correct?
Just another one of those strange English constructions. If I were saying it, I would say that is a six foot by six foot rug, but I could also say that rug measures six feet by six feet, and they are not interchangeable. In other words, I would never say that is a six feet by six feet rug, and it would be unusual for me to say that rug measures six foot by six foot, though some people might use the latter construction. And just to complicate things, it is always a 36 square foot rug (not a 36 square feet rug), but you would describe it as having 36 square feet (not 36 square foot).
Q:I only lived here for one year and my dog left some poo stains on the carpet that i cant get off, and I didn't pay any pet deposit. Is it mandatory for all apartments to change the carpet?
I have never heard of the tenant changing the carpet. Usually the apartment complex will look at and assess the carpet to determine if it can be cleaned to a reasonable degree. This is done after you have moved everything out and handed in your keys. If the carpet is older than six years (at least in my complex) when the renter is moved out then it is automatically replaced, saving whatever we can for patches in other apartments such as flood damage or burn holes. I recommend having a professional carpet cleaning company with a truck mounted steam cleaner come and give you their assessment on the carpet. Ask them if they think they can get the carpet clean. If not, don't have them do it, as you will be wasting your time and money. As far as the carpet replacement goes, depending on your location ( I'm located in the Midwestern United States) You can figure on about $10.00 a square yard, depending on the installers agreement with the complex and the quality of the carpet and pad it could be a little more or a little less, but $10.00 is a pretty safe estimate.. This is then deducted from you deposit check before it is sent to you. If the carpet is in reasonable condition then you are not charged anything for the automatic steam cleaning that takes place when a tenant moves out. GOOD LUCK!!!
Q:Always been as natural as possible with my horses inc rugging, deciding if it's time to rug my old guy (I say old but he's 18 which isn't that old I know!). He's a warmblood, 18yrs used now as a pleasure/trail horse. Things to consider:I live in Queensland, Australia - the lowest the temperatures been since we've lived here is around 1-2 degrees celsius (that's 33-35 Fahrenheit) but it is quite windy (it doesn't snow here - I wish!)This horse spent most of his life in Victoria where the temperature got much lower much windier but he was with a large herd to snuggle up too.We have a run in shelter with just a roof minimal trees. He's a good doer keeping his condition (if anything slightly chubby!).Thanks for your contributions :)
If he is a good doer and it's staying above freezing, I don't think you have to rug him at all. If he was older and having trouble keeping weight on, then maybe. For my horses (ages 27, 14, 14 and 3) I keep them natural until my 14 year old mare starts to shiver (usually at about 10 degrees Fahrenheit), then I'll blanket the three older ones. The 3 year old is a pony with a shaggy coat, and last winter was my first winter with him and I don't have a blanket to fit him.
