- Q: I have blue walls with a gray blue carpet. That would make for ugly curtains. Do they really need to match?
- I okorder has a great selection and great deals, including a deal of the day. They also sell needles and thread. Sew a pocket on one end and hem the other and there you go, custom drapes.
- Q: Ok i just got new ferrets and every time they go onto my living room rug and then sniff it they start bugging out like they'll keep jumping really high sometimes almost flipping and then start rolling around and its only when they sniff the rug is when they do this and they do it every time. Is it bad for them to be going on that rug?
- War dance. Weasles jump and flip around when they are happy.
- Q: I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?
- Well I am not totally sure but perhaps if you heat water until it is scalding hot and pour it on the spot then dab at it with a towel. Do this a couple of times until the wax is gone. I don't know if it will work for sure but at least it wont ruin that spot on the carpet so much by cutting and scraping at it. If you are not worried about the carpet so much then cut it but it sounds like that you are worried about it or you wouldn't try and clean it at all. I would try the scalding hot water. Cant hurt it. I think it will work though. Then after you do that try a carpet cleaner that you can spray on and vacuum up. Might draw out any wax that is left over. Don't boil the water though, I don't know if it will melt the synthetic fibers in the carpet or not if it is boiling water. Good luck hope it works.

- Q: is there anyway u can get nail polish out of a carpet, i spilt a whole bunch (reaaally dark).. and i tried using shout carpet but it didn't work.. is there anyway to get it out.. = thnx.. lt;3
- Carpet You can find a lot of good clever hints from the Hints from Heloise sites. Here's your answer to the nail polish on the carpet problem. 1. Carefully blot up excess polish. 2. Using an eye dropper, apply a small amount of acetone to the stain. 3. Blot immediately. 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until no more stain is removed. 5. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with a dry-cleaning solvent. 6. Blot until the solvent is absorbed. 7. If the stain remains, apply hydrogen peroxide. Use an eyedropper to apply the peroxide directly on the stain. 8. Sponge with cold water and blot dry to remove the hydrogen peroxide.
- Q: An orange candle spilled on my light burber carpet. I've removed all the wax but now I'm stuck with an orange stain!!! Any suggestions on how I could remove it?
- Get out your iron and get an old towel you don't use anymore, then sit down the towel over the wax then run the hot iron over the towel and remove the towel..
- Q: I recently lost a large wall rug in my house due to a fire. The only information I have for it is the following: My grandmother purchased it from a traveling salesman in Canada sometime between 1967-1971. The dimensions of the rug are approx. 6ft long by 3-4 ft tall. It has a picture of polar bears on icebergs. The edging was red yarn-like fringes.I think that this rug is worth something but I can't find anything like it. I need to put a value on it for insurance purposes so I want to find out its true value and need documentation to prove that that rug, or one close to it, is worth a certain amount of money. My other grandmother had a similarly sized rug, possibly sold by the same guy, but it had a bullfighter and bull on it. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
- I'm not incredibly familiar with rugs, but I can try to give some help. After searching around a little bit, it seems that most of the rugs fitting this description are between $200-400, but rugs also run much higher in price. If it is a hand-made rug of that size made by a fine rug-maker, you could be talking $1000 dollars or more. I can't say too much more, since I'm in no way qualified to appraise a rug, since I don't know enough about them, but I included some links in the sources that might help you price your rug. Hope this helps. Good luck!
- Q: My horse lives in a paddock all week round and with the current climate in sydney its hot one day and raining the next. I live in sydney and he lives 2.5 hours away. He is on an agistment property but i only see him on weekends and the people feed him for me. Are there any rugs that you can think of that are breathable but fairly waterproof and would keep him dry in this annoying weather. TThank you so much and also please only answer if you actually have something helpful to contribute.
- It's NOT alright to leave a rug on a horse all winter long! the only time you should put any kind of blanket on a horse is if it actually *needs* it AND you can remove it as the weather changes. You can't do that from 2.5 hours away. Mother Nature has designed the horse to manage its own temperature and shed rain just fine, but as soon as you start putting clothes on the horse, you interfere with that wonderful thermoregulation system. If you can't put on and take off the clothes to keep the horse comfortable as the weather changes, you really shouldn't interfere with the horse's ability to keep himself comfortable. Really! Horses live in every climate on Earth, from subzero to burning hot, desert to rainforest and everything in between. It's only silly human arrogance and our concepts of comfort that make us think we can manage our horses' comfort better than they can.
- Q: My carpet needs a good cleaning, but I am afraid that by shampooing the carpet, the wetness will ruin my hardwood floors underneath..
- Art, you need to check and see what is under the carpet. If she has shag, then it is really old, as this was popular in the 1960's-70's. If there are hardwood floors underneath, be prepared to rent a floor sander, as it will surely need to be refinished. She may want to stain the hardwood. Go to Home Depot or to Lowes for advice on this. If no kids, hardwood is better appearance than shag carpet, but is a matter of taste, too. Be sure that there are no squeeks in the floor, too. Good luck. Regards, Dan
- Q: I have just this cheap low shag carpet in my boys room I want to put down some wood planks. I don't understand why I would have to remove the carpet, it's so low it's not plush. Not quite as bad as commercial office carpet but pretty close to it. Can't I simply install the fllor over it, what's going to happen if I do?
- Only can you install laminate over carpet if it is a very short napped, glue direct to the floor commercial carpet. Any other types and the locking system will fail because of to much move ment caused by to much cushion. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. I ve attended several installation seminars as well as installed a couple 100,000 s/f GL
