- Q: my speaker makes a fuzzy or static noise while the scene has high or low sound. I cut my wire in half because I bought a subwoofer and we didn't get the wires with it. So I cut it. After all I didn't need the wire for the subwoofer. Could my speakers make such noises because of cutting a wire?
- Shortening your speaker wire will not cause this problem. In fact, shortening your speaker wires should give you less static since there is less resistance. Most than likely, it's not your speakers causing the static sound, but your amplifier or receiver. You may be looking for a new one soon.
- Q: I am changing an outside light with a inside wall switch there is 2 cables going to the outside box. ( 3 wires -white w/red line wire and black wire and green ground wire ) other cable 3 wires is white wire and black wire and green ground wire.On the inside switch is 3 wires white wire a black wire a green ground wire.for some reason it is not working, can any one tell me how to wire and or test for power. thank you
- IF switch and bulb are good, have you tested the light socket? Black is the HOT lead. Power (hot) goes from box, to switch, to light, to neutral (power.) THIS puts the switch in the HOT lead. Green (ground) connects to ALL points.
- Q: I need to know about the fuseable link. and or wiring diagrams.
- depending on how it was set up to the solenoid, you could have two or three wires, including the battery cable. that large wire goes from the b terminal on the starter to the battery positive. there is also an i terminal on some, that is a wire that goes from that terminal to the ignition coil indirectly for a full 12 volts or close to it while cranking. the last terminal should be the s terminal. it goes back to the ignition switch.if you only get a single solid click, i think the solenoid is a good potential for the problem. if you pull that off and remove the plastic cover at one end, you will find the moving contact section. either flip that copper piece around or use a fine file or sand paper to clean it up along with the contacts in the cap itself. after all of that is clean, reassemble and bench test it before you reinstall it. if it cranks over well and at high enough a speed, then install it. if not, check the battery and then maybe have the starter tested at a shop. if you reinstall it and it still only gives you a solid click, then see if you can crank the engine over with a socket on the crank. bolt. if that does not work, then pull all of the plugs and try again.
- Q: Can I use 12-2 gauge wire on a 10 amp breaker to wire my light switches, and can I use 10 gauge wire on a 10 amp breaker? For a light fixture
- YES ... always use 12gauge with a ground ; 10ga or 8ga is for 220volts .... you should use a 20amp breaker for light switches and a 30amp breaker for the wall plugs ... so as you know [[ to help you understand more about electrics --- the ele
- Q: how do i tap a speaker wire? car audio not really my department
- Just buy a wire stripper, strip the wire and connect the new wire. Remember to wrap electrical tape around it and you're done. You can also buy wire taps but they sometimes don't work due to a bad connection. Stripping the wire is the best solution.
- Q: I'm faced with a dilemma...I'm wiring my basement right now and all is fine, except for my living room. I want to have a 3-way switch setup, but with four light fixtures. I've already ran 3+ground wires in this order...Breaker box - Switch A - Fixture 1 - Fix. 2 - Fix. 3 - Fix. 4 - Switch B. I have done regular 3-way switches in the past, without much trouble, but I have no idea how to wire this, so well-explained instructions would be perfect. Thanks so much!
- A normal three way has two wires switch to switch and one wire from each switch to the single light. All you have to do is wire the lights in parallel, Each wire will go to one side of all three lights. The light to light wiring is no different then any other multiple light on one switch wiring. Except in this situation the two wires are coming from two different switches.
- Q: i am trying to wire my aftermarket tailight, and it did not come with the plug in adapter as the original. The three wires coming out of it are glued together in a bell type casing. Pls Help!!
- The wire that is hooked to the tail light BODY is the ground wire. One wire goes to the brake light switch and the other one goes to the tail light hot wire. With a test light you can determine where each one is to be hooked to.
- Q: I have a minivan with a flat 5 pin wiring connecter at back. We bought an old utility trailer with no wiring. It has the two rear lights, one on each side with 2 wires sticking out of each. We got the flat 5 pin trailer connector to connect to the van and bought a long piece of cable which has the white, brown, green and yellow wires in it. Where do I connect what? I have the wire that connects to the van with the four colours and 2 wires coming out of each light for the trailer. Thanks!
- ok wiring 101 just think of the road yellow line left side =left hand signal. green grass right side of road = right hand signal. brown = leave the dirt behind =running lights .white ground your trailer is wired
- Q: Is there anything else I could use to solder things without buying whole long spool of soldering wires? I mean like the wire inside the TV antenna cable from 99c store or nails and etc. ? Something I could use single time.
- Are you asking about solder itself, or the wires used to join things together with solder? You can use any wire that meets the current load requirements to put in a jumper wire. does not matter where it comes from. Yes, old TV wires and such can be used to make a jumper. You have to know what current goes through it, if it's a power wire, so it does not overheat or burn up. Otherwise, all signal type wires (analog or digital signals), can use just about any size wire if there is no real heavy current in them. As for Solder, there is no real way to get around that - you have to use solder to fix a soldered connection. Always pre-tin the new wire first (melt solder on wire first, and clean off excess solder). Then heat the connection and wire equally at the same time and touch the solder between the wire, connection and solder tip. The wire has to be hot enough to melt the solder - do not put the solder in the solder gun tip alone, that won't flow properly...
- Q: Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
- Everything has a temperature at which it will melt. Every conductor also has a resistance, which is just like it sounds, a wire sort of resists the electricity passing through it by heating itself up. If a wire's resistance causes it to heat up so much that it melts, either the wire is too thin, or there is too much current passing through it, or both. A thicker wire can handle the same current without heating up so much that it melts. Sorry I don't have any formulas for you, but I think you should understand it now.
