- Q: My cat loves to sleep on the sofa that I just bought. so I am trying to find a way to protect my furniture from my cat's hair.
- Cover the new sofa with a pretty quilt or sheet, or sofa cover only they are expensive to buy. We use a quilt, and once dirty just wash and reuse. It works very well, my furniture all though a few years old looks brand new. Best Wishes!

- To recover the average sofa, labor alone is about $1000.00, and that is NOT including the fabric. Fabric can add anywhere from $300.00 on up to the cost. This is why when I've recommended to folks that the best furniture out there is the older stuff that can be re-done they decide to purchase something new because for another $500.00 or so they can get a set that would include the sofa, maybe a loveseat or a chair as well. What the customers' don't realize though is that the frame and support system of the newer sofas in that price range are inferior to what the older stuff has. Sadly I've got accounts that sell sofas for over $10,000.00 and sad to say even those aren't all that well built either.

- Q: My roommate's cat sleeps on my new sofa 24 hours a day. I would not mind if it was occasionally but he is always sleeping on it. He is a longhaired cat and the sofa is now covered in fur. The fur is very difficult to get off the fabric and my roommate does not offer to clean it up, so I just do not want the cat sleeping there. I tried spraying the sofa with an herbal spray that was supposed to keep animals off furniture but it did not work. - Q: I dog-sat a friend's dog for three days and while the old girl was asleep on my sofa, her bladder released her urine onto one of my sofa cushions. My hound dog used to sleep on that sofa all the time, now she won't go anywhere near the sofa and I've tried all of the dog cleaners and all of the deodorizers! Does anyone have a homemade remedy? - The problem is not so much the urine in the seat cover, but most likely it soaked through into the foam underneath. If the cushions are removable from the sofa there should be a zipper on the back of the seat cover. This will allow you to remove the foam insert inside. Take that out, measure it and call some local upholstery shops and get a quote on one of them cutting you a new foam core that you can insert back into the casing once you've thoroughly cleaned said casing. That is the only way you will truly eliminate the problem. If the casing is NOT removable and you have an attached seat then it gets more complicated and you will have to call out an upholsterer to come out and see how difficult it would be to replace the foam insert. - Q: I am redecorating my room and wanted a smaller bed. I had the idea of buying a sofa bed to take up les space. But every cite im looking at has very expensive and big sofa's. But i would like a smaller one. Any good places to look???
- On a budget, shop at Ebay or Craigslist. Most sofa beds are very large, like queen, full or king. You may be able to find a smaller one, like a twin size but as you'll save space anyway by doing this, go for a larger one like a full size. You can buy or make a slipcover in color you want. Buy one in good condition with no visible sagging.
- Q: Which ones are comfortable to sleep on for lengthy visits? My in-laws could stay for 3 months at a time. For the folding beds, I mean those cot-like ones with thin mattresses, not murphy beds.
- We own 5 Aero Beds. One is a Queen sized Premier Raised Aero Bed. The other four we use for camping. We have Aero Sport All-Terrain Raised Aero Beds, one queen three full. We like them a lot I have never heard anyone complain who has slept on ours, soooo. I do know for a fact that sofa beds roll-away beds are uncomfortable. Both have those cross bars that seem to hit you right across the hips. But, your choice...
