- Rug burn is chafing , so neosporinr is perfect. Just wash with soapy water and let it dry first. It will clear up fast if it's just red. If its bleeding or oprn will take longer. Aloe, from a plant will work too.
- Q: my son had his carpets cleaned and now his baby has hives. professional carpet cleaners are strong and he had them add a deodorizer because of the baby being sick and vomiting on the carpet. they had them done twice within a few weeks and now the upstairs person is saying she smells a chemical ordor and the baby sits on the floor and has hives. the apartment is a two story house and their bottom apartment holds moisture. does anyone know how they can rinse some of the chemical off?

- I just Googled Ashley area rug and noticed that they are made from nylon, one of the points being easy to clean. Can you ask the manufacturer or place you bought it? I'd try just straight white vinegar sponged on and then blotted. I'd then elevate or hang the rug so both sides can air until completely dry. Get a squirt bottle and use it keep the cat off the rug. - If it is mold or something then your local housing authority should be able to handle that. If they cannot do it they should be able to tell you were to go. If it is just dirt then they just need to be professionally cleaned. EDIT: Well then it sounds like it definitely needs replaced. But there is not much you can do to force them to do it while you are still there. You do not say if you have a lease or not. If you do not then you can give 30 days notice and move.

- It CAN be done, yes. However, I don't think this is a DIY project. There are companies that can do this. I have no idea what's involved or what it will cost, though. From white to red is a big change ... and keep in mind that red, whether on hair or walls or fabric, is THE hardest color to achieve, the most likely to fade, and the least likely to turn out the way you intended! (How do you feel about pink carpet?) I honestly don't know how you'd find a company that would specialize in carpet-dyeing ... perhaps call a store in your area that sells and installs carpet, and ask who they recommend for color services.

- You can clean a carpet, but if it has been wet and has a pad under the carpet, you will have to cut the carpet loose at the wall and remove the pad from under the carpet. You can not clean that and the mold smell is in the pad. Either replace the pad or just leave it out. I never put pad under carpet. Now clean the carpet and add some mildew killer to the cleaning agent. They sell this at Lowes and Home Depot. Reattach the carpet at the wall with a carpet tacker prior to cleaning as it might shrink otherwise.
