- Q: I'm buying a cheap floating shelf for 20 so I can hang it on my bedroom wall (plasterboard). I'm buying it for a new stereo I'm getting , but I don't know how to hang the shelf up. I read somewhere that if you're putting a floating shelf on plasterboard you need to use toggle bolts. Can I just drill the holes in the wall , put wall plugs in , and then screw the shelf in to them. The stereo is a Samsung mini system with two seperate speakers. How can I put it up without a chance of it falling down ?

- In my area it is law to have an attic hatch in any attic space, is this not the case where you are? If not do what do what Bub said and have an insulation contractor blow in the insulation through holes they drill then plug and plaster the holes. It usually costs around $1.00 per square foot for R32-40. don't tear down the plaster.

- If you mean drywall with the paper backing on both sides, that would be really heavy, fragile, and be just like painting on paper. I think masonite, aka hardboard, is better. It comes in 1/8 and 1/4 and you would have to prime it first. Any good white latex paint would be as good as artist's acrylic gesso. Prime both sides equally to prevent warping. It would still probably benefit from a wood framework glued to the back before priming. If the frame is stiff enough, prime just the front.

- Gyprock is a brand of plasterboard. Yes, you use it for walls and ceilings. For floors you need a stronger particle board.
- Q: It's a strip light but although I'm putting plugs in, after I drill the holes, as soon as I put the hooks up to hold the light the plugs just keep coming out....any suggestions?
- The anchors (plugs) have to fit snugly into the drill holes. If your drill holes are too big, the anchors will fall out. Make sure that you are using the right size anchors and drill bits.
