- Q: theres a wall in my house thats a complete mess really old cracked plaster .... i know i can bond coat it and then finsh plaster it / but just wondered can you just pva... then dot and dab with drywall adhesive and board it - scrim the joints and finish plaster that? i know i'l loose probabily near on 50mm of wall but i think the finsh would be better and easier with les mess???

- No way, it wont even be strong enough if you screwed to the timber joists in the ceiling. A free standing one is the only other option.
- Q: we've boarded out our eves in our attic and filled the gaps and screwholes with polyfilla. i'm a bit skint at the moment and the plasterer don't come cheaply! so i was thinking of painting straight onto the plasterboard just to make it look a bit tidyer. which would be the best way?, would i need to seal it first and if so how? Would normal emulsion work or would i need to use something else? thanks

- Q: can i put 8ft by 4ft plasterboards on a ceiling?

Perhaps you ask cuz the room is larger than 8' wide....It would be better to have full lengths wall to wall, but not necessary, just a bit harder to tape. but this is done on most ceilings. If you can get longer sheets, it would make for a better job, but perhaps, it is not possible to fit the longer sheets into the space.... To avoid the expense of a drywall lift, make t-heads about an inch longer than the ceiling ht, and use them to hold up the sheet while you screw....have a helper...to make the job run smoother
- Q: Im doing a loft conversion and have got to the boarding out stage, i need to buy a load of plasterboard but have found wallboard and baseboard are cheaper. should i go for the cheaper baseboard or pay the extra for plasterboard
