Q: Which brand of gypsum board is best suited for home improvement?
Gypsum board is mostly used for home furnishings, office buildings and industrial buildings of a material. Good gypsum board has good sound insulation and fire protection function. Can Feifei gypsum board Features: 1, can be resistant to ordinary gypsum board weight is relatively light, it is used for ordinary partitions, veneer paper and ceiling. 2, can be resistant to water-resistant plaster board for indoor high temperature developed a moisture-resistant paperboard, mostly used in the kitchen, bathroom, bathroom and so on. 3, can be resistant to fire-resistant plaster board is the best fire prevention. 4, can be resistant to high resistance plate for the relatively large flow of staircase, classrooms and public places. 5, can be resistant to the sound board has a high sound insulation board, for the conference room and so on.
Q: Im thinking of mounting by living room t.v to the wall, but the only problem is the wall is plasterboard and it's pretty weak.Any solutions to this problem? Thanks
Easist is to remove the plasterboard where going to mount the TV, and replace it with 1/2 plywood screwed to the studs behind. Then buy some joint compound and cover the plywood and paint it after dried. Now you have a secure mounting platform for the TV.
Q: it need pva on it if this is possible iam a trainee plasterer but dont want to end up goin over it with hardwall as im not confident enough
no problem karl ..done it many times ..pva the wall with a roller first and off you go ...
Q: I recently installed a Peerless Wall Mount to support my 46 LCD. Every installation guide I find tells me I absolutely need a stud when installing on a plaster board. However, I could not find a stud in my apartment wall and the plasterboard (if it is that - not quite sure of the material, the building was originally built in 1952 - if anyone has any insight on what it could be I'd appreciate it) was 2 to 3 deep. I used concrete spacers with the screws (which were also about 2 - 3 in depth). It seems exceptionally sturdy.Am I ok are or am I being delusional?
Sounds like real honest to God plaster over expanded diamond lathing or old style wood lathing. 2-3 inches isn't plasterboard (drywall). That's plaster. You should be ok if you installed the anchors correctly and used the correct anchors for the extreme depth of the plaster. Those things can hold up to 200 pounds per anchor. Technically, you should hit studs, but I really wouldn't worry about it if it seems secure. Could it fall off the wall? Yes. What are the chances? Low if you have chosen the correct anchors and installed them to specification. Enjoy your new flat screen!
Q: The top room in my house has got a ceiling in pretty bad shape. The house roof is ok, but over time the pressure has created a myriad of small cracks. Filling them up one by one is a huge job, so I have two choices: 1) apply a new plasterboard to the ceiling. 2) re-do the ceiling, take off the old one and put a new one.1) sounds an easier solution, but the builder wants to do 2) to avoid cracks reappearing. What would you recommend?
You should first investigate when and why these cracks appeared. If it's recent, you could end up with cracks in the new wallboard. If they've been there for years and have not gotten worse recently, you'll be o.k. to proceed--and I agree that new wallboard over the old (plaster? or wallboard?) could be the best solution. use drywall screws, not nails, in order to avoid nail pops. Remember to add an extension ring or reposition any ceiling light fixtures to meet the new surface depth. One reason to take it all out and start over is that you could then easily insulate the ceiling-- and ceiling insulation is one of the best returns on your investment for reducing heating & cooling costs.
Q: Waterproof practices of light steel keel gypsum board partition wall
In the purchase of gypsum board material, it is recommended to buy waterproof gypsum board can be Existing ordinary gypsum board, fire gypsum board and waterproof gypsum board. Waterproof gypsum board refers to the slab in the United States under the ASTM standard for waterproofing test, the water absorption rate of 5%, that can be used for large areas of humidity, such as the bathroom, shower room and kitchen, the board is in the gypsum core Material to add a quantitative waterproofing agent, so that the plaster itself has a certain waterproof performance. In addition, gypsum board paper is also waterproof, so this is a better use of a wider range of plate. But this board can not be directly exposed to the wet environment, nor direct water immersion for a long time. Practice: waterproof gypsum board back brush waterproof paint, front scratch waterproof putty, brush waterproof latex paint Light steel keel: light steel keel gypsum board wall commonly used light steel keel system has three; 1) LL-no accessory system. It LLQ-U, LLQ-C keel composition of the partition skeleton and LLQ-CK keel composition of the sub-wall skeleton, can increase the height of the wall and increase the skeleton strength. 2) QL - have accessories. To C1, C2 keel-based pieces with a continuous cross-keel, support cards, brackets and other components to strengthen the keel partition wall skeleton. 3) QC - no accessory system (if necessary, also available accessories). To QU, QC keel composition of the partition wall skeleton. Can increase the wall height to enhance the wall strength. Can also be cultivated through the cross-keel, supporting cards and other accessories composed of partition skeleton.
Q: Under what circumstances to use double gypsum board ceiling
Rarely present it! Is generally a layer of. Is it possible to have a layer of gypsum board in order to reduce the height? The But there is not much difference.
Q: down. The writing on the back says that i cannot plaster on the side that now faces the floor. What can i do. I have fitted recessed spotlights and now need to make good the surface, ie plaster ready for painting. Can i still do so after maybe pva'ing / bonding the surface?
if you are on the backside of drywall, and not taped yet, prime first with regular Kilz , not water based, then procede to mud and tape and float out all your seams. the primer prevents the mud or a paint finish from bubbling the paper,
Q: Gypsum board partition and brick wall connection, how to build to achieve no cracks
First woodworking time to make the frame to do a solid, in the brick wall with the impact of drilling holes, and then into the wooden wedge, and then the wood keel or light steel keel, with steel nails in the wooden wedge, according to you Of the argument, I guess the gypsum board is to do latex paint, then the painter to do grass-roots before the best use of good cloth, posted on the seams in the brush glue, putty putty, etc., if you do not want to trouble, Kraft paper can also be replaced, a few dollars a volume can be bought, so if the basis of the problem in addition to the problem, in general, there will be no cracks
Q: im wanting to do a big art piece and though a plasterboard may be the best thing but i was wondering about when it comes to painting it is there anything id need to do before hand? and how would watercolour or acrilic paint look on it??
If you mean drywall with the paper backing on both sides, that would be really heavy, fragile, and be just like painting on paper. I think masonite, aka hardboard, is better. It comes in 1/8 and 1/4 and you would have to prime it first. Any good white latex paint would be as good as artist's acrylic gesso. Prime both sides equally to prevent warping. It would still probably benefit from a wood framework glued to the back before priming. If the frame is stiff enough, prime just the front.
