Q: I need to put up a platerboard in bathroom cover cover up old loft hatch? do i need to dampproof this somehow as in bathroom where there is a lot of steam? or can i just put this up and skim it over?
Regular wall board is fine. the green board is for the walls around the sink, toilet, and tub.
Q: Gypsum board ceiling is good to do modeling?
Home gypsum board ceiling how to prevent cracking? There are many factors on the roof cracking. With the use of good, kraft paper or something, can only deal with a part of the case of cracking, but not what can be used, to specific circumstances specific treatment. If the use of good cloth to prevent cracking is still a good choice. The most likely to crack the place is the corner of the ceiling, when cutting gypsum board as much as possible into the L-type, the interface away from the corner. Reasonable process, in the specific construction time, in the seams open V-line. Filled with putty, overlying really good, and then putty putty, latex paint, three at the end of both sides. Under normal circumstances the problem is not large, in the humidity, temperature changes in the regional environment. May be treated with diatom mud ingredients.
Q: As far as i know my walls and roof of my room are made from plasterboard. These wont be strong enough to support a bag will they?tah
You need to drill your floor and purchase some kind of a screw hook and screw it on the floor.then tie you bottom on that hook..
Q: in england we use plasterboard and nail it to the joists then plaster over it for a smooth finish
Gypsum. We don't use...plaster...anymore.
Q: i whant to know what the process is to measure up a job of a basic house for plasterboard off the plan. and how to order the right sized sheets for the job.thanx!
Plasterboard/ sheetrock comes in 4x8 & 4x12 ft sheets 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.. 4x12s are usually railroaded ( applied horizontally) but are heavy & harder to handle in small residential spaces. Also take into account doubling up if the plans call for fire rated walls or clgs in furnace enclosures or attached garage space. Measure each individual wall surface to the scale of the drawing or pick off written dimensions & divide by 4 if applying vertically in an area w/ an 8 ft clg. Eg a 12 x 16.room will need 14 sheets for walls & 6 sheets for clg. 1/2 thick or better for walls & 3/4 for clgs Wall length total ..12+12+16+16= 56 ft divided by 4= 14 Ceiling area .12x 16= 192 sq ft ( area of ech 4x8 =32sq ft) 192 divided by 32 = 6 In residential construction door & window openings are not figured in unless they are very wide & tall. Measuring too closely can cause you to run short esp if a wall dimensions run out greater than even multiples of 4 & you can consider anything over to be a full sheet & use the cutoff in another space. Your supplier can give est on taping compound , joint tape & fasteners based on your order. Wall & clg sq footage is also used to est paint . wallcovering & floor covering requirements Best regards
Q: Used to ceiling
1. ordinary paper gypsum board: ivory white paper, gray back paper, is the most economical varieties. Applicable to non-special requirements of the use of places, the use of continuous relative humidity of not more than 65%. Because of the price reasons, many people like to use 9.5mm thick ordinary gypsum board to do the ceiling, but because the 9.5mm plain paper gypsum board is relatively thin, the intensity is not high, in the recent more rainy wet conditions prone to deformation, Recommended to do the best choice for more than 12mm ceiling gypsum board. At the same time, the use of thicker plates is also an effective means of preventing joint cracking. 2. Water-resistant paper gypsum board: green paper, green back, its core and face paper have been waterproof. According to the requirements of the national standard, water-resistant plaster board and board core must meet a certain degree of water requirements (surface water absorption of not more than 160 grams, water absorption of not more than 10%). Suitable for humid places and areas with high humidity. In the most recent rainy season, it is best to use water resistant plasterboard. Waterproof paper gypsum board for continuous relative humidity of not more than 95% of the use of places, such as bathroom, bathroom and so on. 3. Fire-resistant plaster board: red paper, gray back paper, the core of the core to increase the refractory materials and a large number of glass fiber. If you cut the gypsum board, you can see from the cross section to see a lot of glass fiber. Good quality refractory plaster board should choose a good refractory performance of alkali-free glass, the general products are used in the alkali or high alkali glass.
Q: Gypsum board ceiling and mineral wool board ceiling construction on the construction of the two construction practices are not the same, if not to believe that point
1, pavement units, gypsum board is usually 1220 * 2440mm specifications, according to the need for cutting, mineral wool board is usually 600 * 600, according to the need for assembly. 2, use, gypsum board is the most commonly used ceiling materials, according to the need to choose waterproof gypsum board, fire gypsum board, mineral wool board is mainly used for sound absorption, used for office buildings with corridors, office area. 3, the cost, according to the area gypsum board unit price is lower than the mineral wool board
Q: it is always a dry wall
Sure there are different glues made that allow you to glue drywall straight to a brick or concrete block wall. The one problem with brick is that they are sometimes uneven and getting the drywall to contact the brick wall evenly in all places is difficult and can lead to a wavy wall line. What I suggest is to glue furring strips, something like a 2x2 to the brick wall at 16 on center. Use a glue like Liquid Nails Heavy Duty. The best way is to use the quick set-up method. Simply run a bead of glue on the furring strip and place it on the wall where you intend to put it and push it firmly. Then pull it back off the wall and let the glue sit up for about 10 minutes. If you do this, after waiting 10 minutes, you can place it back on the wall and push it firmly in place, and you will not be able to pull it back off. I would also suggest, before gluing, to hold each strip on the wall where they will be going and check for a high spot that may be causing problems. You can always notch out the wood if you find a problem area. The other reason I would use the wood furring strips is that you can always use nails in the wall to hang things later on.
Q: I really want to put a flat LCD tv onto my plasterboard wall and was wondering how much weight they can usually take. I did want to hang about a 32 inch which would be about 25kg...
Locate the studs behind the plasterboard. Use at least two studs, as near the ends of the mounting brackets or shelf as possible. Bert
