- Q: theres a wall in my house thats a complete mess really old cracked plaster .... i know i can bond coat it and then finsh plaster it / but just wondered can you just pva... then dot and dab with drywall adhesive and board it - scrim the joints and finish plaster that? i know i'l loose probabily near on 50mm of wall but i think the finsh would be better and easier with les mess???

- No, it creates a joint. I would advise doing your walls first, then the ceiling. You can use a screw gun to attatch your sheetrock to the ceiling cross beams. But generally the ceiling does not 'sit' on the wall. After you lay your sheetrock to on wall and ceiling, use joint compound to fill in the seams in the corners and ceiling, and to cover the screws. apply a thin coat and use a damp sponge to remove excess to create a smooth serface. After the compound dries (allow to dry overnight if possible) if necessary use a fine grade sandpaper to smooth any roughness from the compound and paint surfaces. Another option is to use caulk for corners and to fill screw holes. Follow same procedure as above.
- Q: I have put my flat screen tv on the wall but now all the wires are hanging down from my tv to my sky box and my xbox etc. I have drilled a hole behind my tv and a hole near the floor so that I can drop the wires through to make it more tidy. I tied the cable to a wire coat hanger to push it though but the cavity is filled with insulation and i cant push the wires through to the bottom. Also there might be joists that I haven't found yet. - Q: I live in a flat and have constant leaks coming through my ceiling, there is a flat above me. The problems had previously came from the guttering on the roof not being cleaned properly and when it rained the water would leak in to the flat throught the ceiling and electrical sockets. The ceiling is plasterboard and my landlord doesnt seem to be fixing the problem properly, when they do come in they let it dry put a skim of poly filer over bits thast are coming off and repaint over it... even though you can still see the lines of the plasterboard coming through. Does anyone know how my landlord should be doing this properly so i can get this sorted as it hasnt been raining and i know have leaks again this morning with bubbles in the ceiling.
