Q: what adhesive to use to Fix a fibrous plaster cornice to plasterboard walls and ceilings?
How To Fix Plaster Coving
Q: Hello!I've purchased a large mirror for my room and realized that I don't have any wall plugs that would be long enough to reach the load-bearing wall and I've never used wall plugs for the plasterboard wall in front of it.To be honest I have no idea which ones to buy.How much weight and which ones can handle. And is it even a good idea to use plasterboard wall plugs or should I just get longer ones which will reach the load-bearing wall? Thanks!
I would use toggle anchors if its a hollow wall behind the drywall. Wall plugs can come loose in my experience. But you will have a decent sized hole in the wall to repair if you take them out - but same with the plugs too.
Q: Is gypsum board cracking related to the weather?
There may be caused by the wet, especially the wooden side of the case, the seams and no anti-crack treasure, bandages are not sticky, are the cause of cracking.
Q: Inside is plasterboard and outer is stucco. How?
If you are drilling from the outside in, start with a carbide tipped bit to go through the stucco, then any good wood bit can finish the job. From the inside out, start with a wood bit and finish with a carbide bit. Before you start to drill, check for studs, pipes and electrical wires, cause I don't think you would like to connect with any of them. Going from inside out, use minimum pressure going through the stucco to avoid spalling off a large chunk.
Q: down. The writing on the back says that i cannot plaster on the side that now faces the floor. What can i do. I have fitted recessed spotlights and now need to make good the surface, ie plaster ready for painting. Can i still do so after maybe pva'ing / bonding the surface?
Easiest solution would be to go over the ceiling with 1/4 drywall. That won't affect the depth of the cans too much. However, you will need to use adhesive, such as Liquid Nails, along with the drywall screws to hold the sheet up. The 1/4 will have too much flex to span the distance between the joists. There are also screws you can use to help hold it up. The technical name is laminating drywall screws, but we call them rock-to-rock screws. Good luck.
Q: can i put 8ft by 4ft plasterboards on a ceiling?
Of course you can.... 1/2 thick is recommended.... Are you going over an existing ceiling? is this new construction..need more information.... Perhaps you ask cuz the room is larger than 8' wide....It would be better to have full lengths wall to wall, but not necessary, just a bit harder to tape. but this is done on most ceilings. If you can get longer sheets, it would make for a better job, but perhaps, it is not possible to fit the longer sheets into the space.... To avoid the expense of a drywall lift, make t-heads about an inch longer than the ceiling ht, and use them to hold up the sheet while you screw....have a helper...to make the job run smoother
Q: Hello, im currently trying to take down my bathroom ceiling but am having trouble as the plaster seems to have chicken wire through it. im slowing prizing it away from the joists but its taking ages, has anyone any advice for me? i was hoping that the plaster would be attached to slats of wood that i could rip down, but like i said it seems to have been reinforced with chicken wire . . . .
It is attached to metal lathe and seems to be pretty tight. I wouldn't take it down unless you have to for some reason. We oftentimes laminate new wallboard over the existing plaster. Use construction adhesive on the back of the new wallboard and 3 drywall screws and screw through to the joists above. If you're almost to the point of total removal, you can use a reciprocating saw ( with proper eye and breathing protection) and run it through the wire lathe between the joists then pry down the separated pieces. In a bathroom, use moisture resistant drywall at a minimum or mold and moisture resistant.
Q: After moving into my new house, i have noticed that there are lots of places on my celings where the plaster finish has fallen off where the nails are underneath. i have tried already to repair with pollyfiller but the patches never bonded end soon fell off.The heads of the nails have a textured finish, so i think they are the proper nails.I am desperate to sort this problem out so i can begin decorating, so all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
You Should apply a good wall sealant before you try to fill, two coats may be needed this will seal the plaster and the nail heads.Polyfiller will be fine, Good Luck P.S. As this maybe exspensive and the area is small you could use a oil base undercoat instead.
Q: hi i am going to put wallboard up in my girlfriends shop...i was going to use 2by 2 timber studding....but some one said you can get alliminium studding...any 1 know anything about this or any links to websites
Light gauge steel studs are used extensively to frame the interiors of office buildings. Heavier gauge studs are used when structural stability is specified. Steel framing is faster, lighter, less expensive and more fire resistant than wood.
Q: Which is better? Which cost accounting? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Thank you
Caigang sandwich board is good, at least after the partition to do inside the office inside the winter is relatively warm, unless the winter you have the company warehouse heating! Color steel sandwich board material price 30 yuan / ㎡, gypsum board package package material about 40 yuan / square, aluminum alloy grille more expensive, so the color steel sandwich board construction is convenient, low cost of materials, insulation effect, sound insulation effect is better than The other two
