Q: I have a hollow inner plasterboard wall with no bricks or breeze blocks inside it jus two sheets of plasterboard. I was wondering what method i would use to mount the tv without it falling off.Answers would be greatly appreciaited ..: If it is a lightweight flat screen, a regular mount with toogle bolts may work - use your own judgement. Just make sure the wall is strong enough. If the wall is sturdy and backed by wooden slats or wire mesh, you may be OK. If it is a 32 inch tube TV you might be better off just using a regular TV stand - safe and simple.

Q: We have a wall in between a bedroom & the landing that bows when you press it.We pulled some paper off to see what was underneath & plaster crumbled away, theres now 2 big holes in the wall & it seems only the paper is holding it together.You can see the wood slats under the plaster but they are very weak. We are desperate to get this sorted so we can put our house on the market . We've been told to just bang plasterboard on top of it all, we were going to crumble all of the old plaster off & then apply plasterboard.Can anyone suggest what would be best? Thanks: it seem the wall is lathe and plaster ...if you look at the plaster carefully you will see hairs sticking out from it ...this is horse hair ..it was put in to give a better grip as the hairs curled around the gaps in the lathe ...you have two choices ..either remove loose plaster ...pva exposed lathes ..then apply BONDING COAT plaster ..and then skim ..or remove all plaster ..and board over ..the upright studs will be spaced at 16centres ..scrim the joints and plaster with BOARD FINISH

Q: Hello, im currently trying to take down my bathroom ceiling but am having trouble as the plaster seems to have chicken wire through it. im slowing prizing it away from the joists but its taking ages, has anyone any advice for me? i was hoping that the plaster would be attached to slats of wood that i could rip down, but like i said it seems to have been reinforced with chicken wire . . . .: It is attached to metal lathe and seems to be pretty tight. I wouldn't take it down unless you have to for some reason. We oftentimes laminate new wallboard over the existing plaster. Use construction adhesive on the back of the new wallboard and 3 drywall screws and screw through to the joists above. If you're almost to the point of total removal, you can use a reciprocating saw ( with proper eye and breathing protection) and run it through the wire lathe between the joists then pry down the separated pieces. In a bathroom, use moisture resistant drywall at a minimum or mold and moisture resistant.
