Q: I was thinking of making a rug for my dorm room out of carpet squares - does anyone know of any way to:a) connect the squaresb) where to get (nice looking) carpet squares?Thanks so much!: If you entirely cover the floor with carpet squares, you shouldn't have to connect them, they should stay in place by them-self, as long as they are snug. If you like you could staple the corners of the squares to keep them in place. It you have a Restore, Habitat For Humanity store you might be able to get them there and it would cheaper than buying new ones. Otherwise you could try Home Depot or a carpet store.

Q: What kind of carpet is suitable for the hotel? What kind of carpets is suitable?: if all high- class carpet is wool. some patterns. The hotel is suitable for wall-to wall carpet, acrylic is cheaper, but the price of wool is more expensive.

And why?: With a wood floor you can get a rug to put near your bed so you don't have to step on the cold floor and you can switch rugs easily. It's easier to clean as well. My carpet is old but doesn't smell, and I do like it, but I would probably pick hardwood floor if I had to choose. It's just easier to decorate.

Q: How can a nylon carpet be distinguished from a polyester carpet?: From the feel, nylon carpet softness than polyester carpet soft, polyester carpet feel more hard. By using the same pigment, the color of nylon is more lustrous than that of polyester.

Q: I want to make a rug, but I don't want to buy any of the patterns they've got at the store. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. If someone can walk me through it, that would be great!: Get yourself a piece of 'rug canvas' and buy a 'rug hook' and several different 'colors' of 'rug yarn' to 'fit' the size of canvas and hook. Start 'hooking' in any 'corner' and just go across to the next corner, then back ... and you can 'draw your own design' or just use 'different colors' randomly ... and the 'hook' should have 'instructions' on how to use it. It's best if you buy the 'already cut' yarn and fold it in half when you 'hook' but if you do that with your 'first' rug (which can be really small until you learn how to 'hook well') then you can decide whether you want to 'cut your own yarn' when you do your next rug. You may need to grab it with pliers to get it started coming up. Most garbage collectors won't take a full sized roll of carpet. The last time I threw out carpet, I cut it into sections about 3 feet wide, rolled them up and wrapped them with tape. They took it that way.

If it uses Stainmaster yarn, then you will have a great carpet. A 1/2 8lb pad really isn't necessary; a 1/2 6lb pad would do just fine. It all depends on your living situation: is there a lot of people living there? If so, a heavier pad would help with the wear and tear of the carpet. If it is just you or you and one other person,the lighter pad would do just fine.

Q: We purchased the recommended pad for use on carpeted areas. The problem is that the wrinkles are pronounced/high. This diminishes the attractiveness and safety of the new rug.The rug was tightly rolled for shipping. It was laid across a bed for 4-5 days allowing the edges to hang hoping to straighten and smooth out these wrinkles. Now that we have actually placed it on the carpeted area it is disappointing that the wrinkles remain. I've contacted the vendor and they have no advise or help thus far. Any ideas?: De wrinkling a rug, You can try to back roll against the wrinkle. You need to leave it rolled up for a few days. You can try to steam it out, but it could take awhile. The oriental rug cleaners have a method of stretching a rug to get the wrinkles out, you might contact a local cleaner and ask about this service. You maybe should return the rug for another, tell them it is defective.

Q: I spilled liquid laundry soap on the floor yesterday. I cleaned it with a wet vac and I thought it went away. Today when I woke up it stained the carpet. I've been rinsing it all day with just water and sucking it up with the wet vac. How can I get this stain to go away. Please help very desperate.: Cut out the carpet.
