- Q: i have a skoda octavia tdi 1.9 auto reg 2007 which is burning engine oil and very heavy black smoke comes out the exhaust when i press the accelerator hard. 2 months ago i changed the oil and put long life on it, last week the sign came*(check engine oil) made me surprised when i checked it and nothing was left there? any solutions and ideas to avoid this problem plz? .
- Black smoke means that the engine is running very rich. If it was burning oil, the smoke would be blue. No additive can fix either problem. Sounds like the vehicle has not been properly maintained for an extended period of time -- even a Skoda should not wear out that quickly -- and you'll need an engine overhaul now.

- Today's gasolines have additives in them. Using them are pretty much a waste unless you are trying to absorb water. All you would end up doing is putting deposits on your spark plugs.

- sta bil is a gas additive that treats the gas, for people who store their machines for the winter. or the summer. it keeps the gas stable so that it does not get old and turn into goo if not used for long periods of time. It will not save the motor or add mpg. nothing will do this. The best thing you can do, is keep the oil in the bike clean, do not drive it like you stole it, keep it tuned up, and use a good quality gasoline always. this is the best way to keep your bike running good hope this helps you

- the old sensor installs onto a port in the intake. brace yourself for a bunch of haters whining about how they dont like cold air intakes. dont listen to them. cold air intakes arent all about lowering air temperature, its about lowering restriction. combine a cold air intake with a few other aftermarket modifications and you will see some good results. the guy was asking for advice not a lecture youre all a bunch of trolls.

- Q: I own an old 1994 Ford F150 XLT 5.0L and it has just over 199,xxx miles on the engine. I would like to run an oil additive to kind of clean up any and all gunk that may be in the engine so that it will all run out when I change my oil next week (or sooner of needed).I have thought about using Seafoam since I have heard some good stories about it, but with all stories; there are bad ones too. I am just looking to clean up the gunk wherever the oil touches without having to tear apart my engine and clean it by hand (did that with my old Honda and that sucked).Does anyone have any expertise on this subject? If so could you possibly refer me to a preferred product? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.P.S. Money is not an issue so I don‘t care if it is $20 a bottle.
- Oil additives sold separately are a scam. They are known to sometimes counteract the additives within oils (the only ones that really work) because an additive maker has no way of knowing which additives are already in your motor oil, and there is no such thing as one-additive-fits-all-oils. Various wonder effects are also unsupported by independent evidence. Normally engines shouldn't be flushed since modern oils keep most particles in suspension. The closest you can get is to drive the car until it is very hot and then drain the oil - it will remove 99% of all debris from the engine (you don't care if some remains in a remote angle of the crankcase - no problem there. Replace the oil filter, fill with new oil to the top dipstick mark. Replace regularly both oil and filter (no use to do it sooner than recommended by the Manufacturer, another way of wasting money), occasionally the air filter and the engine will be fine.
