- This is not that usual of a problem. They don't do it for the sake of making a hole. Usually they do that to get at bugs of one kind or another. I would consult with a pest control company to see if there may be an infestation of some kind in your siding or what ever the woodpeckers are making holes in. Not heard of an additive to prevent woodpeckers, just for insects.
