- Q: What was wrong with the tires?
- They had to many of the tires blow up and they didn't want to be sued any more. I had the recalled tires on my explorer, so I went down and got them replaced, What a mistake I made. The old tires had 137,000 miles on them and they looked brand new. Put on the new ones and at 165,000 miles the tires are junk.
- Q: I have 26x9x12 tires i was wondering if the wheel i had on would fit a 29.5x12x12 tire
- If I understand this correct you have 12 in diameter wheels. If so yes you can it will give some side wall bulge but not a major problem.
- Q: What is the flattening ratio of car tires?
- Give you a little explanation for it. The flat ratio is a proportional value: the ratio of the thickness of the side of the tire to the width of the tread. For example: 205 / 60R15, flat ratio is 60%, recorded as 60, 60% of the tread 205 is the tire thickness. 15 is the hub diameter, the tire of this model that put all the dimensions of the tire are included.
- Q: A typical American tire would have something like P215/70/R15 embedded. Would a European/International tire have different tire size embedded on the wheel or it is the same?
- Yes, they are the same. However, If there isn't a letter preceding the three-digit numeric portion of a tire size, it signifies the tire is a Metric size (also called Euro-metric because these sizes originated in Europe). While Metric tire sizes are primarily used on European cars, they are also used on vans and sport utility vehicles. Euro-metric sizes are dimensionally equivalent to P-metric sizes, but typically differ subtly in load carrying capabilities.
- Q: I was having some shaking while driving and braking. I was told I probably have a bad tire. They tires were rotated and I was told its 90 percent better but one of my tires is probably not good to go back to where I got them. They were put on in the last year. What does this mean, a bad tire?
- Your tread is probably wearing on one of them. When this happens, it's truly best to replace all your tires. Your ride will be so much better once you're on a new set of tires. But since I'm not looking at your tires, take your car to a reliable tire center and ask them. To be safe, get a couple opinions.
- Q: My present 1999 Toyota Solara SLE V6 has performance all season tires.(Bridgestone RE 92) What differences might I expect to find when driving my car, if I switch to HIGH PERFORMANCE--verses Touring tires--or perhaps another brand of performance tire like Goodyear etc? I need a set of new tires soon. I have been very happy with the RE 92 Bridgestones but they have not worn particularly well. Thanks.
- A Grand Touring tire will have a softer ride probably better winter traction than the high performance tire all season tire.
- Q: How much does one 2012 Nissan Altima tire typically cost? Thanks.
- Courtney, The required tire size for your '12 Altima is 215/60-16. Within that tire size prices range anywhere from $60 a tire for low quality tire to $125 for top of the line quality. Don't go cheap on your automobile, tires are simply too important. If you need a quality tire that is available at good price consider the following. Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology ($108 a tire) Michelin Primacy MXV4 ($110) Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring ($112) Or, if you really need to keep the price down. Firestone Precision Touring ($96) Hankook Optimo H727 ($93)
- Q: is there anybody out there that has the balloon tires and just for normal riding will i really feel a difference?considering the townie balloon tires over regular tires..?thanks mike.....
- I have an Electra Straight 8 with the 3 wide tires and they eliminate the vibrations that one would feel from road irregularities. However these are the only tires I have ever had on it. I switch from 2" balloons and 1" racing tires on my recumbent bike and I have noticed these differences. The 2" tires allow me to run a lower pressure without damaging rims (around 50psi). If I was to run this low a pressure on the narrower tires the rims would be damaged by any large bumps or rocks I might run over, therefore they must be run at 90psi. The lower air pressure is what gives you a smoother ride. The lower pressure may make your bike slower rolling but unless you actually racing you probably wont notice it. Many riders will ride 100 miles with their tires at 50psi just for the comfort and don't feel slowed at all, some even say they are faster. I really don't see any need to run a tire over 1.5" or 38mm wide if you are riding on the road. The 2"ers I have are nice and comfy, they make feel better when I ride in the winter and may encounter ice but I don't think I will buy tires this wide again. They feel a little squirrelly when I go into a turn at high speed but I have not lost control of the bike yet. I would recommend that if your tires are 1.5"(38mm) or larger you can probably ride safely at 50psi (check the sidewall to be sure). This will make your bike ride smoother and give you more traction.
- Q: Hi guysHow to check which tire size fits on which rim?For example a 215 / 55 / R17 tire. Now I know that 215 is the width of the tire.55 is the height of the tire from the rim.R17 is the size of the wheel in inches. Now how to know what is the width of (RIM) so that the tire above fits ?Cause the rim says 7x15.Thanks in advance!
- For safety, the tyre should not be more than 2 inches wider than the rim. So if the rim says 7 x 15 or 15 x 7, it is 7 inches wide. You can safely put a 9 inch wide tyre on it. Convert 9 inches to mm. 9 x 25.4 228.6 so you can put a 215 wide tyre on it. You made an error about the 55. 55 means that the height is 55% of the width. So 215 x 0.55the height of the tire. Remember that the height x 2 plus the wheel diameter (17 inches) is the diameter or total height of the whole thing.
- Q: what is the tyre pessures fo 195/45 r15 78v
- The maximum tire pressure should be moulded into the sidewall on every tire. But, that is only the maximum pressure for that specific tire. You should always go by the vehicle manufacturer's tire inflation specifications for best fuel economy, and ride comfort. Most manufacturer's put a sticker in the door jamb, or glove box, sometimes it's even behind the fuel door. When in doubt, about 35 psi should get you down the road without abnormal tire wear, and decent fuel economy.
