Q: I am remodeling a room and I'm not sure if I should put in the baseboard or the carpet first. Also, if the baseboard is first how much of a clearance does the carpet need to get tucked under?
HK has it right ..You have to put the tackstrip right against the baseboard to stretch the carpet..if you put carpet first..then you have to put the baseboard on top of the carpet, which the base will not be straight then due to the carpet pile..this will also mean the tack strip will be laying on top of the carpet and will be on a cushioned surface that has give and stretch in it and will wobble around some loosing the nails in the tack strip..the tack strip needs to be laid on a HARD FLAT surface for the nails for it to seat flush into the concrete...It cannot be put on top of a pile of carpet and not have give in it..Your tack strip will be popping up within 2 months in places..
Q: like to put on carpet and vacuum up.
pretty sure they dont...walmart or a dollar store does though
Q: himy apartment already has carpet, but it looks kinda ratty, so i bought an area rug.....it keeps bunching up in the same spot though.....is there any adhesive i could buy that works on carpet?
You can get rug hold from your local hardware store and it should not cost that much. Add the rug hold. If the crease stays, boil a kettle, do not drench it, but dribble a bit on the backing of the carpet that is creased after removing the rug hold. Put some weight on it and leave for a few hours. When the crease has gone, re-appy the rug hold and it should be fine. Good luck Joe Kelly Kingsland floors
Q: My parents used to sell rugs (they have a large collection of oriental rugs in their house) by teaching an adult education course at a local high school and inviting people to an open house. Since they didn't elect to teach the course this semester, they feel that they have no hope of selling rugs. I'm sure there are a lot of ways of promoting my parents rug business/collection on the internet without the course. My parents are not particuarly familiar with e-commerce, and I am only marginally familiar with it.What's the best way to use the internet to help my parents business?
You can sell your oriental rugs online through many online retailers like Overstock and Target.
Q: Is it hard to remove a carpet yourself, or should i hire someone?? Im not really good at that type of thing but just wondering how hard it is. Would i need special equipment or soemthing? and how long would it take me? Thanks
The only other thing you will need is a scraper/ putty knife to scrape up the spots where glue was used to hold down the pad. Most of them will just come right up. If you run into a stubborn one soak that spot with a little water and then try again. Most of the glue used is water based, so water will help loosen it. Overall it is not a very hard job, I stripped around 1000 sq. ft. in a couple of hours, not counting all the glue spots. Your biggest problem will be finding somewhere to put all the carpet until trash day. Go ahead and give it a shot.
Q: I just purchased an 8x11 handmade wool rug online. I am not sure if I need a rug pad under it to keep it from slipping or whatever. I've seen a few rubber ones that cost around $80 and some thicker plush ones going for over $100. Is it really worth it?
I would not bother buying a pad specifically designed for an area rug. Instead get some rubber kichen drawer liners, or a roll of tool box non slip liner. It will work just fine. Hint, tape the liners to the bottom of your rug.
Q: Which is better, polyester carpet or polypropylene carpet?
Polyester carpet and PP carpet of these two kinds of carpets are chemical fiber carpets, carpet look and feel similar to wool carpets, wear-resistant and flexible, anti fouling, anti moth and other characteristics, the price is lower than the other material of carpet. Therefore, these two carpet gap is not big, each has its advantages and disadvantages, preferences vary from person to person.
Q: I used to have a cat, but haven't since I bought a house and completely remodeled it. Now the house is done, and I'd like to get a cat again. I don't like the idea of de-clawing - I think it's cruel. But, I now have expensive furniture in the house and also 2 very expensive antique persian rugs. How is a clawed cat trained not to scratch/claw these things. I've always had problems in the past with this.
I got 2 cats. And they both know how to use da scathing post.all u got 2 do is show it 2 them. After a while they'll know not 2 scracth the rugs but the scratching post.
Q: My cat is 2 1/2 yrs old and I've had him since he was 6 months old. Within this past couple of months he started pooping for some reason on one of my kitchen rugs. I've tried everything to correct this. I've used Nature's Miracle, Vinegar, other pet odor removers, put food in the spot so he would avoid the area, and not only changed litters but changed to scoopable. NOTHING has helped!! At first changing the litters seem to help and I scooped it out every couple of days. My only other choice is to scoop it out every day and/or put him in a cage for a week all day long with his own litter to try and break the habit. Other than that I feel I've run out of options! HELP...I'm at my wits end!!!
the element is that your canine sees anyone of those mats and gets perplexed. So prepare him one extra time and spot if that works. the clarification why he's lacking the wee wee pad is by technique of the fact he hasn't long previous that close to the wee wee pad to bypass do it is employer. It' completely accepted for a canine. See my doggy Angel does it all of the time. ok i additionally recognize something else that mite help it is spoke of as doggy burglary help. See what this does is that once ur canine smells it it is going to recognize the place to bypass. See what u do is one u get that u positioned a touch of it on the mat seize ur canine then he/she sniffs it. Now ur accomplished. Now merely wait a pair of hours till at last heshe is going to pee or poop. then see if it is going on the wee wee pad. If it does then provide ur a a handle! sturdy success!
Q: I bought a kitchen rug from Jcpenny's last year some time and it is dirty now and doesn't look nice, so I was wondering how often do you have to replace kitchen rugs?
