Q: It looks like rust, or a burn on a cotton rug. Oxy clean and hydrogen peroxide won't touch it
oh, I thought you were talking about a toupee!
Q: is it easier to vacuum the industrial carpet than regular carpet. I plan to replace my regular carpet with industrail, because it is hard to push the vacuum and we have lots of dust. thanks.
I had industrial carpet (white) in my home and loved it. It was very thick and plush and cleaning was no problem and vacuuming was very easy. I would definitely recommend it. But the best is hardwood floors. Industrial carpeting is expensive and I can get bamboo (50 year guarantee) for $2.12 a square foot at Costco. Bamboo is a sustainable resource, also. I love it and I have six animals in the house.
Q: what color should I choose....my walls are already a shade of green so I'm kind of looking for another color.
THEY BOTH LOOK LIKE TRASH
Q: My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds, browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks
It's hard to say without pics but as long as there are a few similar colors between the two then I'd say they'd work great - after all we are talking about two seperate areas in one big space so I wouldn't say they'd have to match exactly.
Q: Ok my dinning room table measures 60cm x 40cm how many inches of area rug would i buy to fit and have some space left?is this one way too big 63inches x 94 inches?thanks all.
Use this rule of thumb: Chairs of dining room table should rest completely on the rug when pulled up to the table and allow the chairs to glide over the edge of the rug without catching. The rug you have now is about 5 X 8 if it is 63 inches by 94 inches and that is pretty small for a dining rug. If the flooring under your table is wood consider no rug at all- you may prefer it! You're saying that your table in inches is only 15.75 inches by 24 which isn't even big enough for a dinner plate- are you sure your dining table is that small? Just checking as the measurement you gave may have been a typo? If your dining table seats about 4 people then I suggest at least a 5 x 8 rug.If your table seats only two, I would still go with a 5' x 8' to add color and make the space more interesting. If your table seats 6 then I suggest a rug that is about 8' x10'. If the room is small then no rug at all or consider a room sized rug that fills the whole room, will add color and texture and will actually make the space appear larger instead of cut-up with so many little things. Q: Okay, so I'm being cheap! However, I saw these really cute pink shag area rugs on sale at Target this week. I need it to be larger than the 5 x 8, so I was thinking of somehow binding the two so I would have a 10 x 16. Does anyone know if this is possible? I don't want to use anything too gooey to join them because the rug will be going over hardwood floors. Let's hear some creative practical solutions that will work please!
You could probably sew them together with rug yarn that you can get in a craft store. Depending on what the backing of the rugs are made of, this might be difficult OR, they have iron on tape that is made just for rugs. I've never seen it in the stores but I've never really looked for it either. I did see them use it on a show on HGTV. You lay the rugs face down with the joining edges against each other on the floor, place the tape evenly along the edges you want to connect, and press with a hot iron. When the joined rugs cool, turn the piece over and comb back and forth with your fingers to hide any of the new seam that night be showing.
Q: looking to get carpet for 1 room
Just a standard carpet will average around $3,50 a s/f installed. Of course you can do higher or lower, it all depends on the over all quality of the carpet. Most carpet comes in 12 and 15' wide rolls so you ll need extra to seam it together. So you can t go just by the 13x13 ( 169 s/f) of the room size. In 12 foot widths you ll need a pc 12x15 or 180 s/f or a pc 15x13 ( 195 s/f) to fit the room. The are some patterned carpet that come 13'6. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: i live in a house on a college campus, and after all the parties and everything, the floors tend to get dirty. my white shag area rug is right by my door, so a lot of dirt has been tracked onto it and it's starting to look gray and isn't fluffy anymore. i love my rug, is there any way to save it?
The best way to clean your rug, is spray Resolve Carpet Cleaner on the rug, load up the rug in the back of your car and take it to the car wash. Lay it out, and wash the rug it will look brand new. I have been doing this for years. It works great. You do need a place to like fence to hang the rug over, to dry, or lay it out some where to dry. Hanging it on a chain link fence, it drys very fast.
Q: I have alot of eyeliner stains on my carpet, and was wondering the best way to get them out.I'm looking for something cheap considering i'm on 15.=]
any good detergent used sparingly will work.Murphy's oil soap spray does a good job.Use just a light spray, and rub with a sponge.
Q: I had a bad stain on my carpet that nothing would remove. So I tried peroxide on it, and it took it out. So I was wondering if peroxide, baking soda, and things of that nature can be used in carpet cleaning machines?
Definitely you can put peroxide, I'm not so sure about baking soda as it may be too thick and plug the machine, I guess it would depend on the mixture. Peroxide also is capable of bleaching a carpet and should be diluted to approximately 3%, and even at that it should be tested in an inconspicuous place first. hope that helps you , Good luck.
