Q: I was thinking a weekend trip to a nursery or something near springfield il or st louis but am not sure what greenhouses around here are good.
Both areas have splendid nurseries. You're a good kid+
Q: I stopped to listen to a garden speaker at our County Fair last week. I was late didn't hear all he had to say, but he brought up the gardener's quot;Biblequot; several times. I over heard someone at the nursery say something about it too, more then once, but never paid attention before. All I know is it is suspost to be the best book on gardening. A must have for every serious gardener. I've checked at several book stores without luck. My neighbor told me that is not the right name, only the name everyone refers to it. But she didn't know the real name either. Does any one know the real name? I have got to have one. Thank You!
THE MASTER GARDENER BIBLE was at one time SUNSET WESTERN GARDEN BOOK. We carried one with us at all times. But times change the MASTER GARDENERS have written a NEW TESTAMENT of their own. I wouldn't say it is a replacement to the Sunset book any more them The New Testament of the Bible replaces the Old Testament. But THE MASTER GARDENER HAND BOOK was writen by MASTER GARDENERS for MASTER GARDENERS with input from all the top plant experts from the Univ system, State County Ag experts. It's more of a hands on, how to book. Where Sunset highlights plants to I.D., the MASTER GARDENER HAND BOOK assumes you have made your plant choices takes it from there. Pound for pound, I'd say the Master Gardeners book weights more. Covers in detail the stuff Sunset just touched on. I think they belong together just like the Old New Testament of the Bible. You just can't have one without the other. The Master Gardener book covers it all in detail, soil conditions, IPM in detail etc. Anything that could mess up a gardeners' day in the garden, the Master Gardeners' book has it covered. Problem being you won't find it in your local book store. It's a univ publication in univ books stores or by order from your local coop extension or Master Gardener sight. If both were put infront of a gardener could only have one, it would be a tuffy. But for more hands on what to do and why, i'd have to choose the book writen by the Master Gardeners.
Q: I'm thinking about planting something in my gardening and my friends tell me that pH is important factor to consider when I'm trying to decide what to plant. What's so important about pH?
PH determines if the plant can absorb the nutrients well, it has to to with ions. Plants should be at 5.5ph i guess and by screwing up PH levels the plant might decide to not use any nutrients available and die.
Q: I'm working on learning how to be more self-sufficient, and living quot;off the grid.quot; One of the things I've been researching is gardening. Specifically, I'm wanting to start a well balanced fruit and vegetable garden. I live in the NorthWest, and we get a lot of rain. The hottest it gets is like 100 in the summer, and things usually freeze in the winter. What should I grow in my garden? The goal is to be able to grow food to provide for my family all year around. Yes, I understand I'll need to store some of it through the winter, and that I can hunt and fish, etc. Also, let's just say the size of the garden can be as big as needed, so no worries there. My focus is on what specifically should I grow to have a well balanced diet ongoing.
it really depends on what you and your family like. you can also try new vegetables that you have not tried in the past. we have our own garden for a family of 5-where we grow tomatoes (you can make your own salsa), corn that you freeze for the winter months, cucumbers to eat fresh with salads or pickle them, okra can be fried, baked, or pickled. you can also do squash, eggplant, onions, swiss chard, peppers, broccoli. the list is really endless. you have so many choices. i would plant many rows of things that you know your family would eat and half rows of things that you are unsure of. i hope this helps and good luck.
Q: pls help me know how to write an essay... This question for me is hard how can you sustain the relationship mutualism in your home garden. pls.
I would assume that relationship mutualism in the garden refers to having plants that go together such as having all cacti or desert plants or all evergreen plants. It could also refer to a vegetable and fruit garden and crop rotation (ie not planting the same crops each year, changing them so one crop doesn't rob the ground of its nutrients) if you can elaborate on your prompt it will be easier to help you
Q: to control insects etc, on vegetables and herbs.

Q: Thank you!A best answer will be chosen!
Any good bookstore will have a gardening section. I consider any gardening books published by Rodale Press to be excellent sources of accurate information. You may also want to subscribe to National Gardening or Organic Gardening magazines. You'll learn a lot from a one-year subscription.
Q: i want to plant a small garden in my home for my cats to eat. i keep looking stuff up but i don't want to read ten pages to get one suggestion. i want a list of what they would like to eat that is SAFE for them!
Catnip(cat mint) will make them go crazy, it is very safe and hilarious to watch! It's not like a drug for them, it's perfectly safe. Some others that cats like and are safe: Creeping Rosemary Alyssium Heather These are only from personal experience, from observing my cats rolling around like fools in these plants.
Q: I locked this girl called Chloe INSIDE the garden! HELPPPP!!?So it's half term here in England but I went to school today cos I had to go to revision class to revise for maths and this girl I hate soooo much called Jessie was there. She was really pissing me off. After school Lissa had pissed me off so much I hit her. Shelly ran after me and I hit her. Then I ran into the school garden at school (we have this garden thing with plants at stuff at school btw) and I hit Jessie and Chole was about to run out but I hit her and she fell and I LOCKED this door of the garden adn Jessie was stuck!! MWHAHAHA! Jessie is ALL BY HERSELF. The teachers went home and NO ONE APART FROM CHLOE IS IN THERE! SHE IS ALL BY HERSELF! What should I do? REMEBER AMBER IS LOCKEDIN THE GARDEN BY HERSELF!
Wait who is locked in the garden?
Q: Something catchy, please!
