- maximum panorama cord is sixteen gauge cord and has a thicker plastic masking. well-known speaker cord is eighteen gauge (larger kind of gaugesmaller cord) and has a skinny plastic masking for indoor use. The longer the gap from source to speaker, the better the cord. below 20 ft use sixteen gauge. 20-40 ft use 14 gauge. larger cordmuch less sign loss.
- Q: I got an akai as-980 quadraphonic reciever. It works but I know nothing about the speaker system. They have to have 4 wires I'd guess because there are 6 speaker inputs with 4 plugs for each speaker. What are they called and are these speakers hard to find? Cam anyone shed some light on this? - hi matt hippie.the akai as-980 is a four channel stereo tuner/amplifier the four speaker plug/connectors are for connecting your speakers in a way what they called matrix four channel stereo.and the two speaker plug/connectors are for a two channel stereo connectionso you can run these speakers either way as i've just explained.hope this helps you out in some way matt and merry xmas!
- Q: i know there subs are good but what about door speakers
- For one, speaker sound is subjective. I may love them and you may hate them and vice versa, but quality wise, even JL's lowest quality speakers are good. I think it would be hard to be disappointed with any JL speaker or sub. There may be something that performs comparably for less money, but JL's are good.

- do these have an internal amplifier? if so, just run a fused cable directly to the battery, and then a relay to the ignition wire if not, get a small amplifier and wire it that way, then wire the speakers to the amp then use whatever device you want to send the speakers their audio signal (i have an iPod hooked to mine)
- Q: I can only hear all sounds from the headphones connected to my computer headphone outlet, not the speakers, I have no headphone connection on my speakers. I have changed no connections since I did the factory restore, and no sound from my speakers since then. Can you buy speakers that have an installation disk? Woud this solve my problem?
- Are these internal speakers or external speakers? Are you sure your speakers work? Go to start-control panel and double click on Sounds and Audio Devices Then check if the volume is on. Or double click on the Volume control icon and make sure no output is muted. Speakers have no drivers, but your audio card needs one. make sure your audio card's driver is installed properly.
- Q: I am constantly going to thrift stores looking for speakers and home theater receivers. I don't buy any though because I want to know if the speakers will work with the receiver. Is there any simple method to determining this? Like matching watts and ohms? Please, if possible, just a simple way to determine if the speakers are compatible with receivers.
- Pretty much any standard 4 to 8 ohm speaker will work with any home theater receiver. It is a good idea to test the speakers there at the store if you can. Maybe bring along a short piece of speaker wire already stripped for testing each speaker and each speaker output on the receiver. Blown speakers will not work at all or they may just sound raspy. Don't worry about the watts too much. As long as it is a name brand speaker, it will work fine as long as you are not blasting the receiver at full volume.
- Q: I had a party this weekend and suddenly the bass from speakers went off and the treble went to extremly low. (Note, this is not car speakers/amp)I tried replug the speakers by twisting up wires again and insert em, i managed get some bass from the speakers after that but lasted like 1 min.May i broken the speakers or the sound amplifier? - Thus:Hook up the good speaker having tweeter woofer(Bass) to the said amplifier.See if the speaker gives adequate o/p. say it gives the adequate o/p, .Then the amplifier is ok. If there is no sound or less o/p of the sound, the amplifier is gone with the wind.Now, how do you check if the speaker is ok.Thus:a) Get a dry battery with two separate wires connected to its each ends,then touch the terminals of the speaker with the remaining ends of the wire intermittently.The speaker should the the cracking noise it is ok. If it is not ok, there wil not be sound o/p. b)The next easy method is to use the multimeter for continuity test.c)The best method is to use the audio generator to test the speaker. - How will you be powering these in your house? Please be aware that the vast majority of car audio speakers at rated at 4 ohm, whereas, home theater speakers are rated at 8 ohm. Make sure your home amplifier/tuner is capable of pushing 4 ohm speakers. To be honest, it's a toss up between the two. That's Kicker's lower end stuff. It's still quality, but I'd say about equal with the Pioneer. Step up to the Kicker RS series. You'll be happy you did.
- Q: i have an 04' Maxima and tha speakers are ok but not tha loudest,, but i found out that one speaker(front left) wasnt working,, so i decided to go ahead n buy new door speakers thinkin that would fix tha problem and give me better speakers,, but i started installin with tha front left speaker n when it was all hooked up i tested it and it was REALLY soft,, all of tha other speaker seem to work fine but a couple times in tha middle of a song tha bass will seem to kick in for a breif second. - Step 1: Check to make sure the balancefade settings are neutral or biased to that speaker. Step 2: Do a continuity check on the speaker wire between the head unit and the speaker ends. (disconnect both ends) I suspect you have a short in the wire somewhere. If you dont have a multimeter, first check by hooking up a different speaker. If the other speaker still doesnt work then replace the speaker wire from the head unit (dont worry about running behind the dash ect yet, just hook up the speaker to see if it works).
