- well, I assume Realtek accepts 5.1 speakers. so, after installing Realtek go to Start Settings Control Panel Sounds and Audio at the Volume Tab there is a section called Speaker Settings, click on Advanced Click on the pull-down menu of Speaker Setup and press 5.1 surround sound Speakers

- Well, you first have to identify the output/input receptacles as to what they are used for. You'd be better off looking at your User's manual or Quick connect diagram and they should tell you how to connect your speakers to the computer. If you try to connect two sets of speakers to your computer, you can cause excessive loads to the circuit and cause damage to the sound chip unless it's design for it. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Why would you want to connect two sets of speakers in the first place? Are we only talking about Left and Right channel speakers only?

- I have done similar to what you are doing, though I am not quite sure what parts you are using. Hopefully what I have done might show you something different. I got 2 parts, 1st is the link to Amazon, where you find the 3.5mm to RCA Stereo Female Cable. The second is RCA To Speaker Wire Plugs. Those two together worked for me, and if you have the male cables for both, you can always get a connector, though I know that an additional component would add more impedance, thus lowering the connectivity and performance. Have you tried hooking up your setup to an external source such as MP3 player? The problem might not be in the wiring, but the computer jack not having enough power to drive your speakers especially if they were used to hook up to an amplifier. If the speakers are indeed powered stereo speakers, you might have to do a AUX line-in to a stereo that is powerful enough to drive your speakers.

- The cone of the speaker has a tiny coil of fine wire in the middle. There is a permanent magnet with a circular groove and the coil sits in this. The cone is suspended on its outside edge by a flexible support so it can move in and out only. A +ve voltage applied to the coil pulls it in and a -ve voltage pushes it out. A large voltage causes a large current in the coil and pulls and pushes it more than a small voltage. This moves more air so you get different volumes out. The audio signal is a rapidly changing voltage causing rapidly changing current in the coil and creating sound out

- Sure, you can use any speaker cable you want. You can't connect them directly to an xbox, mp3 or ipod, you need an audio amplifier (receiver).

- first, what are you playing these speaker with?a computer?amplifier?and are these speakers in individual box?what ohms are these speakers?More info. I know speakers have different ohms independence,and when you hook them up in series it increases the ohms .If you hook them up in parallel you decrease the speaker ohms.This might be your problem since you have to match the speaker ohms equal or more to the device that you are using to play the speakers.
