- Depends on what you're looking to do. 2 way is usually a tweeter type for mids and highs. A 3 way is low mids and highs. I suggest 3 way.

- Joe - Check your cables firstmaybe swap the right cable for the left? If the same speaker is still low then the problem is with the speaker. Make sure it is not a problem with your mixer too. If the settings are the same on both speakers and the volume is still low, you really need to get it serviced - the problem probably will not go away and it may get worse.

- Did you buy them new? Make sure you cable from the speakers to the computer is in ALL the way in your soundcard jack. Otherwise only 1 channel will work. Also that you have the right cable. The cable that goes from your speakers to the computer should look like regular headphone type plugs on the end, but with two black bands, not one. If you bought it new, cant you get an exchange? Check the warranty, otherwise check your cable. Also check your Mixer settings for your soundcard and make sure both speakers are selected.

- Speakers with no power scource are going to be very quiet simply because they have no means of amplification. An amplifier needs a point source. You can't make these speakers any louder. You will need to buy new speakers. Preferable some with an amplifier. If you try plugging them into an amplifier as the first answer states, you will simply blow these speakers. Non-amplified speakers like the ones you have are specifically made for low wattage usage.

- Your RCA's owner's manual will have instructions on this if this feature is available. Otherwise, you will have to add a separate amplifier to the rear channels to be able to manually adjust the output of these speakers. Other than that, you can get much higher sensitivity speakers for the rears to increase the output in the rears. However, if you cannot adjust the volume in the rear now, you won't be able to then either. A stand-alone home theater receiver with this feature in another option to consider as well. ? - Q:I got an akai as-980 quadraphonic reciever. It works but I know nothing about the speaker system. They have to have 4 wires I'd guess because there are 6 speaker inputs with 4 plugs for each speaker. What are they called and are these speakers hard to find? Cam anyone shed some light on this? - bose car speakers are nothing special. bose gets its sound from sound processing eq's in the headunit, not from high quality speakers. a $20 set of aftermarket speakers will sound better than bose speakers. also, in some cases bose speakers have crazy ohm ratings. i have seen bose speakers with ohm ratings from .5 ohms to 24 ohms. so they may not be compatible with your amplifier.

- Well the obvious thing is to follow the instructions in the manual and hook up the 4 built in speakers. (How can you have built-in speakers and not hook them up?) Generally people buy an AV Receiver from companies like Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo and a 5.1 speaker set from a company that only makes speakers. Then you feed the video to the TV and the audio to the AV Receiver. As you pointed out - now the volume is NOT controlled by the TV. But I suggest you hook up BOTH the TV speakers and the 5.1 sound system. Use the TV speakers for casual TV watching. Fire up the AV Receiver for serious HD movie or DVD watching.
