Q: I have a jvc kw xz720A car receiver and looking for 6.5 speakers The receiver says 4X40watts what should my speakers be rated at?: Truthfully, it doesn't make a ton of difference. Almost every head unit manufacturer advertises peak power output. They do that because peak power ratings are almost meaningless and they're no real indication of what the unit is actually capable of, but not many shoppers are aware of that. In recent years 50x4 is the standard power claim of the typical head unit, and ALL those head units produce 14-22w rms per channel. With an older JVC it might give you 12-15w rms per channel. The LOWEST rms power ratings you'll find on a decent 6.5 speaker will be in the 40w rms range, so no matter which speaker you choose you will have a lot less than optimal power on hand to run it. So what I'm saying is don't make power handling an important part of your speaker choice, although I would look at the lower end of the spectrum on the assumption a speaker designed to work best at 40 or 50w rms will probably work better at 15w rms than a speaker meant for 80w rms. Go to some stores and listen. If possible, listen with only head unit power running them. It won't do you much good to listen to a bunch of speakers getting 100w from an external amp when they won't be getting nearly that much in your car.

Q: I have a couple of speakers that came with a Sony HI-FI system I bought. The model is CMT-GPZ7. The two speakers that accompany this system are not magnetically shielded (it says so in the instruction manual). Still, I would like to put these two speakers by my CRT monitor.The question is: if I put the non-magnetically shielded speakers by the CRT monitor, will this damage the monitor? However, large speakers have large, strong, rare-earth magnets in them. They could pose some danger to your monitor and your computer if it is close. Also, any magnetic media would be at risk as well. Do you have any 3.5 discs laying around that you still want? Another issue is that most computer audio cards are not designed to drive these types of speakers. The card is typically designed to have powered speakers connected to it. Trying to drive unpowered speakers may cause damage to your audio card.

Q: I have some basic speakers in my car, and I've heard you can get separate subwoofers and tweeters. I really just want a single set of speakers with decent bass. Also where can I find instructions on how to uninstall my old speakers and reinstall the new ones (or where I can have them installed)?Thanks in advance.: i would recommend 4 way speakers which are speakers with a small subwoofer, midrange speaker, tweeter, and supertweeter since these will give the best audio. they are normal speaker size otherwise just buy 2 way or 3 way speakers. if u buy speakers from crutchfield it has the stuff to plug up ur speakers and if u buy a headunit it'll have instructions and how to install it with the full kit for it

Q: Does it matter if I replace 8 ohm speakers with 4 ohm ones?: Yes. If you are only replacing the speakers. Since the amp powering the speakers will output at 8ohms and the new speakers will be 4ohms, your ohm load will be high to low. This will cause the amp to work twice as hard and it will overheat, if not fail.

Q: I recently purchased an EMERSON antique record player (cabinet) that still works very well but the speakers are extremely quiet. I was wondering if replacing the speakers with newer ones would help improve the volume?: if truly an antique, then the audio power tube is probably flat. tubes that have been used for a while and then allowed to sit unpowered for a long time become gassy. have you done anything to refurbish the electronics? old tube sets require a lot of maintenance, especially concerning the capacitors. i doubt that there is anything wrong with the speaker.

Q: If a computer Monitor comes with a Sub Par speaker can I replace it? Or add a new one? If so how?: Disconnect the monitor's speaker connector. Replug it to the new speaker. But I think if you just connect your speaker from the sound card, the monitor' s speaker automatically switch off.

Q: I need advice on how to install new 120 watt speakers and I have a firebird that uses a 4 prong speaker and the new ones are a 2 prong speaker, i need to know how to make the change over, also the old speakers are 80 watt. I have attempted to install and got only a faint sound coming out of the new speakers. Any advice?: even if your stock speakers are 4 prong there should still only be 2 wires going to it a + and a - most of the time the - is a black wire the + can be just about any color but alot of the time its red. all you have to do is use the -(black wire) and hook it up to the - on the speaker(it should say what ones the - and + on the speaker) and then just hook the other wire to the + of the speaker and it should work fine. hope i helped

Q: I have a 2001 Chevy Camaro V6 with stock 6 speakers. All of them don't work except for the front left driver speaker. The hatch speakers are completely out and the sail speakers have a really really low volume. I tried replacing the stock sail speakers with new Pioneer speakers but they're still just playing at a really low volume with like no treble. Any ideas? Could it be a wiring problem?: yes its all aftermarket or all factory you can't miss match the equipment.you must have a factory amp some were and this is your problem start from scratch with a good aftermarket stereo and 4 good aftermarket speakers and use the internal amplifier in your new stereo to power the speakers by passing any factory equipment. you can use the same power supply under the dash to the stereo but run your own speaker wire from the rear of the stereo to each speaker.this will give you some good clean sound.if you plan on adding your own external amps later make sure your new stereo is set up with all the plug ins needed to run an external amp for speakers and sub outs for running an external amp for your sub or subs,this can be added at a later date but at least you will have the right stereo in place to do the job.
