- Q: How long should a carpet be changed and washed? How to do if there are lice on carpet?
- It is recommended to wash the carpet once a month. You can use dust scrubber if you have spare time at usual.
- Q: I have purchased wool rugs which I really like but they have an odour and we have stepped on prickly objects that, when searched for, turn out to be similar to twigs (approx. an inch or more in length) or seeds woven into the wool. The rugs come from a very reputable rug importer that operates in the United States as well as Canada so I'm somewhat surprised at what appears to be poor quality and am considering returning them. Will I find this with all 100% wool handmade rugs? Does cleaning them make any difference?
- If your supplier is buying from village producers, then yes, there will be twigs and seeds in the wool. In a handmade rug, the wool is sheared from sheep that are wandering about and getting dirty. Although the wool will be combed/carded and probably scoured a little, it will not become 100% clean. Textile machinery and harsh chemicals are required to remove every bit of debris from the wool. A 100% wool rug with no debris in it will invariably be machine made. The smell is one of sheep..... again, if you buy heavily scoured, bleached wool the smell is not so strong. A good example of this that can be seen in most yarn stores is the Japanese-produced Noro yarn. It is moderately expensive but small twigs and grasses can still be found in the yarn.
- Q: Can carpet be laid on the floor heating?
- Try not to lay carpet in the room with floor heating, or it will affect the heat transfer. If it is just a small part, then the impact is not obvious. In addition, it would be better for heat transfer to buy furniture with legs for the room installed with floor heating.
- Q: i was playing wiff my friends and the carpet got pulled up from the ground. is there any cheap way i can help stick it back to the ground like a professional?
- Depends on how big of an area you are talking about and the carpet. I have done it with a high pile carpet by cutting a small slit and injecting glue beneath the carpet and then put weight on it for a while. If it is a low pile carpet you might have a hard time hiding your incision. Maybe if you can get a syringe type injector (meat injector) you can make a small enough hole that's not visible.
- Q: my carpet is dirty it has stains and needs a good cleaning what can i use in a shampooer to clean it
- I okorder ., to locate a pro near you.
- Q: Our house is currently covered in carpet. We have a dog who sheds and has occasional accidents in the carpet. I'm debating whether or not to switch to hardwood floors. I would like to to the floating because of cost. Does anyone have advice? Should I stick it out with carpet? Is wood that much easier?
- Hardsurface flooring would be better to have than carpet especially if you have pets around the house...not only are they earier to clean, they are much more hygenic. Carpets will accumulate dust and promote molds that can cause respiratory problems for the those who live there, and those who come to visit. Since carpet absorbs liquid, the smell of pet's urine won't be that easy to remove from it. I've encountered people who have been trying to get rid of the smell of pet urine even after a month that the carpet has been taken out... it costed them a lot of time, money, and effort jsut to get the bad smell out. The more if uric acid has affected the subfloor (even concrete), you cannot just lay another flooring on top as the smell would still permeate throughout the house. If you are to do a floating hardwood floor, apply a water-proof adhesive (like Bruce Everseal) at the tongue and groove so that even dog pee wouldn't seep through the cracks. Damages will occur if it happens as the liquid will not evaporate, thus the boards can warp. I am unsure how big your pet is but choose floors that are with aluminum oxide finish, they help prevent scratches. There are certain wood floors that are with a high janka rating (or hardness rating) which would be harder to dent as well... mostly are exotics that can be almost 3x as hard as White Oak. It is advisable that you also trim your pet's nails regularly:) Always remember that if you'd plan to re-sell your house in the future, hardwood floors will always increase its value.
- Q: Does the rug doctor help get the pet smell out of the carpets. We have been watching a few dogs and cats within the past year, and it is taking a toll on our carpet.
- Yea, it does a pretty good job. But I never thought it really saved a whole lot of money over a professional cleaner. The rental is low but the detergents are expensive. Plus the labor and time... But... since you are only watching the pets temporarily, I would try sprinkling baking soda over the carpet, let sit for several hours and then vaccuum. Follow with a dose of Fabreeze and you should be fine.
- Q: I mean, he can sleep on the couch, on his bed, on our beds, even the pillow pet is softer than the carpets! He prefers sleeping on entrance mats, the carpet in front of my fridge, the carpet in front of my stove and on the carpet under my bed. It's cute, but weird.
- maybe he likes the feel of the carpet haha
- Q: I've seen stainmaster carpet, and I was wondering which type of carpet resists stains the best. I'm redoing the carpet in a dining room, and my cats continually pee on the carpet in this room, so I need a robust carpet. Thanks!
- I really like the carpet with scotchguard on it that seems to work great. Best of Luck.
- Q: I'm really stressed I just spilled Mac and cheese all over the carpet how do I get it out
- It can not be too much so first of all scrape it all off the carpet and then use some spray removers and a brush. Some work really well and dry to a powder to hoover off or take some warm water with some washing up liquid in it and either brush the stain away or use a cloth to do the same. You might need to do it a couple of times but the stain you have is not a bad one and it should lift. After the wash use clean water to rinse the soap off and blot dry with towel or paper. If you use tissue paper you will see when the paper gets dry. Just make sure when you get rid of the stain that you go past the mark it has left and it should not leave a ring.
