- Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
- Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
- Q: I used a couple carpet cleaners that I bought at the grocery store and tried soap but carpets never get very clean. Is there a good brand that anyone has found to work really well?
- I use the 950 Cleaner and I would have to agree that it is the best thing you can use to clean stains. It will work on nearly any surface, and it really does pull stains out with ease.
- Q: how do you get red stains off the carpet?
- Red stains are the hardest to remove but you have several options. Spot Shot carpet cleaner will give you instanteous gratification and it can be used for other purposes, too, like cleaning upholstery. Wine Away sold at kitchen stores and Cost Plus also works on red based stains. Some red dye based stains can also be removed with a solution of oxyclean and water, but be careful to test it on an inconspicious area first to determine whether it will change the color of your carpet. Sometimes a simple paste of borax and water works and you can let it dry and vacuum it up.
- Q: My pony is not clipped and I was wandering what weight rug I should put him in in winter if at all. Should I put him in a stable rug when he is in his stable, and should I put a rug on him when he is out?Should I ride him in an exercise sheet as well?
- At my barn, we do not use blankets in the winter- only on Saturdays before a show after we've washed them.
- Q: We're looking to buy new carpet for a home. We want to buy nice, durable, long-lasting carpet, but, like everyone, we have a budget and are middle class.Any tips, pitfalls to avoid, good brands, avoid these brands, etc...?
- Long lasting carpet, over all is 100% nylon. Whether its a berber, plush , textured or a frieze. Watch out for free labor ( I never worked for free do you?) I have all the faith in Mohawk they covered their warranties. Very important, don t skimp on pad. Get the best you can afford. And have it in writing the pad will cover the manufactures warranty. Some sales and advertised sales will include a cheap pad. Pads support the carpet and prevent the carpet backing from breaking down premature. Vacuum every few days. Carpet makers say to do it every day. Have carpet clean professionally by a certified cleaner. Have it done on a regular basis. Have every thing in writing. This will include the type, color style what weight pad, whos doing the rip out and disposal of the old. Whos moving the furniture ( in and out) Take advantage of 90/180 12 month same as cash but do it the proper way and don t miss a thing. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL Most of what I can think about.
- Q: I accidentally dropped my red nail polish on to my carpet... i tried using windex - it faded it a little bit- but i can still see it! anything else i can try? and i am going to have a carpet cleaner person come and clean my carpets so will they be able to get it all out? and could there be a reaction from mixing the windex with the carpet cleaner? PLEASE HELP!
- Things You'll Need: Nail Polish Remover (Acetone), Window/Glass Cleaner, Hair Spray, Shaving cream, Oxy Clean, Butter Knife (or similar shaped object) Paper Towels. 1. Take a deep breath! The nail polish stain can be removed from the carpet. First begin to lightly dab the Acetone Nail Polish remover on the stain with paper towels. (Make sure you test it on a small spot on your carpet first to be sure it doesn't stain). 2. Slowly dab up the nail polish stain using the nail polish remover and paper towels. If all of the stain does not come up try spraying hairspray and/or shaving cream on the nail polish. Use small amounts and gently scrub the stain out. I recommend using a scrubbing brush (such as one used to wash dishes) or a toothbrush to really get the stain out. You can also use the butter knife to try and work the stain out if it is beginning to dry. At this point you may also want to try spraying window or glass cleaner on the nail polish stain. This helped quite a bit in removing the stain on my carpet. 3. Be sure to continue to use paper towels to soak up the nail polish stain from the carpet and make sure you do not get the carpet too wet. 4. Once you remove the nail polish stain, allow the carpet to dry. If there is still light staining, try using Oxy Clean to get the last of it out. Tips Warnings Be patient. It takes awhile to remove a nail polish stain from a carpet..Be Gentle. You do not want to work the stain into the carpet any more than it already is..The first product you try may not work. Keep trying until you see what works for you..Always test sections of your carpet with any item you decide to use to remove the nail polish stain. Do this in a closet or somewhere it will not be noticeable if it stains..If you cannot get the stain out, call a professional carpet cleaner. Better safe than sorry..Do not cut the carpet..
- Q: I have regular rugs and the back of them keep peeling and the colors are faded. I have washed them numerous times. I have heard that people are now using memory foam rugs. What is the purpose for memory foam rugs?
- I like how soft they are and they are nice to stand on.
- Q: I have two black cats so my carpets are starting to look a little dingy. I vacuum but i'd like them to be cleaner. Whats a good carpet cleaner i can buy at someplace like Target or Walmart? Thanks :)
- If okorder / I use the great value brand of cleaner that WalMart carries for my steam vac, it's located with the steam vacs. I get the one for pets, it works good for general traffic and it makes the house smell fresh.
- Q: We want our living room to be black and blue. Right now, we have a black leather couch with blue throws on it and we need curtains and an area rug. I wanted a neutral rug with a little blue and blue curtains, but I cannot find any rug that fits that description and I have looked at millions of rugs. I am thinking I should just settle for a plain blue rug and get a neutral curtain. My husband thinks we could get a blue rug and blue curtains, but I think that is way too much blue for one room. What should I do?
- Well: Go with the BLUE !!! I LOVE BLUE TOO !!! I mostly like GOLD to go with blue !!! MOST of the time !!! No`matter what !! Try getting just the right shade of blue to go with each shade of: G O L D !!!! not red to sub for gold in some or certain instances !! i guess if you do'nt mind ORANGE or YELLOW has been called gold in certain situations !!!.... I lost concentration !!! I' just better stop now !!! G/L~!!! r R r
- Q: We recently had a storm and I had water damage in my bedroom and the carpet was soaked. A company came out and extracted the water and steam cleaned the carpets but I can still smell that wet carpet smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of the stinch?
- Question: do you smell the carpet cleaner or the original ucky smell from the flood? If it's the carpet cleaner, let it air out for a few days and the smell should go away. If it is still from the flood, call the company back and complain, tell them that you want it redone or money back. Joe is right, it might be the underpad that is stinking up the place. ~~
