- Q: Carpet is worn to padding something black under the carpet its showing and landlord is cheap and doesn't want to fix anything. Exterminator told landlord a year ago it needed replaced but landlord ignored. My kids and I have to wear flip flops in the house because this carpet is nauseating. I was going to buy a carpet cleaner but im not wasting my money or time on this carpet. Been here 8 years and carpet was here before I moved in.
- From my experience, if the rental agreement says other than 'landlord/owner is responsible for any household cosmetics, outside paint, carpet, lights/bulbs, windows, walls, doors, blah blah.' Other than what you personally destroy, then no. You agreed to move into **** town, they have the right to keep it that way. BUT, you can report it to someone and then get that ball started. AKA, had moved into a apartment close to college but not college dorm. The walls had mold under he wallpaper, carpet has piss stains and mold. I reported it to a health place in town and boy did they take care of it quickly. Owner paid all expenses, and this kicking me out and giving me a 'red flag'. Big whoop, the 'flag' lasted 3 days till my next rental when they Understood the circumstances I was under.

- Sounds like you have asked a lot of good questions. Padding under carpet is even more important than the carpet itself. Whether you are buying the lower, middle or top end carpet, you should always buy the most expensive padding. It will make all the difference in the feel of the carpet as well as how it wears. And it is not that expensive. Hardwoods these days should be the pre-done floors that Bruce and all hardwood companies have been doing for years. Because they are cut and polyurethaned in house they are stronger and more durable than floors that are raw cut, laid, and only a couple of coats of poly done. When your contractor lays hardwood floors, they also lay the wood moldings.

- He is such a cutie! - i dont think a lycra hood would stop the rug slipping like that. but it would provide some protection for his neck and stop the other rug rubbing away any fur in the places it doesnt fit properly. - if you are going to get it repaired, you could also get it altered so that it is smaller. or if you can, you could just put more holes in it so that it will fasten tighter if you know what i mean. you can do that with a hot piece of metal like a screwdriver. the eat will also seal the hole so that the edges dont fray. - if you get a new rug you will probably have the same issue with the neck part not fitting right because the body part looks fine. - also, you could just get a lycra hood and fold the current hood part back so it is out of the way
