- Q: I am getting married this October and I'm having my reception in a banquet hall...it's very nice and of course they provide white tableclothes for their round tables but their chairs are like an ugly pinkish color...I'm wanting to get some white chair covers to cover them up and make it look more elegant. The banquet hall recommended a place that they use and I guess the people come out and steam the covers on the chairs so they aren't wrinkled and they have a display out at the hotel we are having the reception at and they are really nice but they are $6 a chair cover and I'm having over 200 guests at my wedding and I don't want to be spending that kind of money on just chair covers. Just wanted to know if any of you have ever ordered chair covers online that you can rent? I found a website where you can rent them and they are only like $1 or $2 for each chair cover, but I hate to order them and they come and are are really wrinkled and don't even look nice...any of you done this?
- Ok what I would do is ONLY cover the bridal parties chairs with chair covers (the 6 buck ones). Then go out to a fabric store and buy a bunch of white nice fabric or white large ribbion and tie a bow around each chair of the other guests. Like take a large long piece of fabric and wrap it from the front of the back of the chair to the back of the chair and tie a pretty bow. Some of the chair will be exposed but you are covering the tops up, which is what people will notice.
- Q: Is a 'Ergonomic' the same as 'high back' office chair or is it different? I have a normal office chair but my son told me that a ergonomic chair will help me with the back pain. What's the different?
- great diff. a leather-based chair in a workplace is wonderful and snug and not threatning or frightening however the chair interior the dentist workplace is frightening i dont like them lol reason i dont like all medical doctors chair or workplace chair interior the room lol i comprehend wahts coming
- Q: I have to make a cad drawing of chair , but first I have to measure the chair and put the dimension in the drawing , but there are lot of curved shapes on the chair and lot of angle , but I couldn't figure out how to measure those curves and angles.Should I lie the chair down and sketch it on the surface and measure it from the surface. Thanks
- When I first saw this question, I was going to make a snappy answer such as - randomly draw lines all over the place and then erase all the ones that don't look like a chair. But, after reading the question, it's a good one. Measuring curves can be very tricky. I usually draw a straight line parallel to the curves on the actual object and mark the line at several preset, equally spaced points. I then make several measurements at these set intervals on the line to the actual curves - the more measurements, the more accurate the drawing. I then use this information to duplicate the curve from a straight line in the drawing. There may be other methods, too, but I find that this one works best for me. Good luck.
- Q: i was just curious about the cost.. i do plan on looking in my local phone book for a chair rental company.. but i was just curious about the average cost ?in other places.. that way i can see if i'm getting gipped or something
- I just got married in June and my chairs were 2.50 each plus 50 cents per chair to set them up. I felt like I was getting ripped off but that was the going rate in my town. Sometimes if you look for companies that are not wedding oriented but do rentals you get a better price for hte same chair. Good luck and congratulations!
- Q: what states if any use the electric chairs
- I don't think any states use the electric chair any more as it is considered cruel and unusual punishment. I do believe that Florida and Texas (maybe a few more states) still use death by lethal injection.
- Q: I have a stupid fear of electric chairs due to some bad dreams about sitting in one. I'm not a bad person in the death row or anything; I just have an irrational fear. I can't even look at an image of an electric chair without getting nauseous or fainting. Because of this I don't really like sitting in any chairs. Help me! :(
- Well first of all I don't believe your fear of sitting in an electric chair is abnormal. You couldn't tempt me into one either! It was used as a symbol for death for many many years here in the US. It was held up as the ultimate price one would pay for doing something serious against the law. So the fear was ingrained in us even as little folks. I don't know your age, but my generation sure wanted nothing to do with the electric chair, and all the ugliness that goes with it. Do you have a fascination with death, as I notice the name you use here on YAN is Korpsie, and that is like asking for trouble. Why would you entertain such a name, when you claim to be afraid of the electric chair? It doesn't jive! It doesn't make sense to me. Your fear, or fascination, with death has overtaken your belief system. It has frightened you so much you are not even willing to sit in ordinary chairs. That is the irrational fear (not the electric chair!) Try to desensitize yourself by allowing yourself to sit in a sofa, or couch, and then move on to a few minutes in a chair, and then keep on doing that until your fear eventually goes away. You may need some therapy to deal with this problem. You spoke of bad dreams about electrical chairs. You know dreams are symbolic? Try to remember your exact dream, as then we can ferret out the real reason you are afraid of an electric chair. Earlier in your Life were you electrocuted by live wires of some sort? Something happened to make you very wary of electricity. Try hard to remember what it was, and then tell it to take a hike, because it's messing with your Life. OK? Good luck to you!
- Q: If you do, do you have a pad in it? Where did you get it? I found a website, but they are $44.00 for a plain one!!
- I have a wooden hand crafted Amish high chair. It did not come with a pad, so I just started using the cushion from one of our kitchen chairs. It worked so nicely I went out and bought a different chair cushion of which I used in the high chair now. Sometimes when the cover of the cushion gets dirty, I will use an old towel to wrap the pad in which works nicely for messes. Just take off pad and wash. the chair cushion I bought was only like 6 or 7 dollars at shopko. It think 44 dollars for something that is going to get much wear and tear is insane. Just go buy a cushion from a department store and put in the chair (reccomend one with a removeable cover!)
- Q: I have some chairs that have cushions down half the back and on the seat. I want to recushion the top and make it wider and the cushion go all the way down to the seat. (Turn them into Parsons chairs) What would be the easiest way to do this?
- I would use foam, wledbond, plywood, string, buttons and fabric. First measure the base of your chair at the seat and figure out the hieght you would like the parsons chairs to be. If you chair is 18 wide at the base, and you want them to be 24 high, then you would need your plywood to be 14 x 21 high {approx.}. You can get this cut for a fee {usually} at any lumber or home improvement store. Take the lumber and attach it to the chair with weldbond and clamps {and l have no idea of your chairs but weldbond works on metal and wood} or anything that will hold it tight while it hardens. Let this be glued firmly and completely dry...for extra security you can tie with rope {it will be covered with the foam} . Get some 2 {or more} thick foam and cut it so you have one long strip that is 50 long by 28 wide. Now on the inside seat part of the back of the chair, take a staple gun {or if you have little hands like me, use a nail and hammer} and attach string every four inches or so in a grid layout} Now take the foam and make holes with a knife or sizzors to line up with string. Take your weld-bond and spread it evenly over the plywood {be generous} front and back. Take the foam and lay it beginning on the inside bottom edge, pulling through the string as you apply it to the glued surface, bring it over the top, and then down the back of the chair, you will have excess on the sides and final bottom edge, but this can be trimmed later. leave to dry on the floor lightly tie and hold in place with string. Take fabric and cut to the same size, drape it in the same manner, making holes and pulling through string Attach with upholstorers nails. Tke the string and attach big beautiful funky buttons. They will look fabulous!!!
- Q: So my boy almost 1 year loves to scratch my chair. I don't really care because I don't like the chair, however I do not want to encourage this behavior because I will eventually get a nice sofa and chair. He usually stands up and scratches the corners so I have put the sticky paws tape in the corners, then he started laying down and scratching the bottom, so I put sticky paws tape on the bottom. He has now moved to the middle of the sides and back. I'm not taping anymore of the chair as that no longer bothers him. hes scratches through now.I've tried different smelling sprays- bitter apple, hartz brand and some all natural thing. He has scratchers and posts all over. he has ones that vertical, horizontal, diagonal-made of carpet, sisal and cardboard. he has one that is coved even (like a house) he sleeps in it. the largest is next to the chair he scratches and I kid you not, he steps on this scratcher to get to the chair.
- Don't declaw. Shame on those who have suggested it. I don't have a great answer for you, but I'll just throw out suggestions left and right and hopefully something will click. Regarding catnip - if he doesn't respond to it, try valerian instead. It often works in cases where a cat is not sensitive to catnip. Is he only doing this chair and leaving your other furniture alone? If so, it's certainly possible that he will not harm any new stuff. He may just have a thing for this chair. What fabric is the chair covered in? Can you get a similar fabric to use to make your own scratch pad? I once had a similar situation. The girls loved to scratch on the back of my computer chair. I didn't stop them because I knew I'd be redoing it soon. But I also used some of the same fabric, wrapped it around some foam and hung it on the wall at scratching height. They absolutely adored it! And when I recovered the chair, they left it alone. Can you remove the chair? Without it he may turn to the scratch pads/posts you have for him. Or can you let him claim the chair as his? If he has this favorite scratching place it seems more likely that he'd leave anything new alone. Note - when you get new furniture you might want to get something in a different type of fabric from what the chair is done in, in case that's what drew him to it. Or how about recovering the chair in some less enticing fabric?
