Q: It's a big pain to loop them around those two hooks. I have a bad back and hate all that bending over to do so. Plus, when I turn the top hook to get the cord off and usable it gets all twisted. It's so nice with a canister vac to just touch the button with my toe and ZIPPP, it's all tidy.
There are several that have retractable cords. Check links below.
Q: I need a good vacuum for my floors - right now I sweep every night - then i swiffer wet jet or clean with wipes on my hands and knees. Im very OCD about my floors being clean as you can tell - Ive tried the BISSELL stick Vacuum for hardwood floors but it is worthless - the basic broom seems to work the best but still doesn't get everything... what is the best Lightweight inexpensive vacuum out there for that type of flooring.... thanks guys for your info!
I have a Dyson, the pink one. And it works great. It was expensive but I've had it for almost 4 years now and it the best vaccum I've owned. It's well worth the money though. Lifetime filter and to bags to buy either.
Q: I'm a guy who isn't extremely familiar with vacuum cleaners so maybe someone can help. I was running around the house with my Kenmore Progressive vacuum cleaner and I accidentally pushed the adjustable thingy that lets you set the height of the vacuum. This adjuster thing is about halfway down the silver tube. The second I touched it, the carpet cleaning part shut off so it's just sucking air. I pushed everything together as hard as I could trying to get it to come back on but with no luck. I had been vacuuming for quite a while. Do these things shut off when they get too hot and stay off until they cool? It seems kind of fishy that it died right when i touched the adjuster thing though. Any ideas?
I suspect that your vacuum shuts off the beater bar (carpet cleaning part) when the height adjustment is put on low. This allows the vacuum to clean a non-carpeted floor without the beater bar kicking dirt all around the kitchen. Once you figure out how to properly re-set the height adjustment, the beater bar should work again. You may have to check to make sure the beater bar drive belt is still in place. I don't know why you had such a hard time re-setting the height adjustment, but evidently you were doing something wrong, as it should not take that much muscle.
Q: Hi there,I know that a lot of bagless vacuums are sold as quot;Cyclonicquot;, but I remember hearing somewhere that only Dysons actually remove all the dirt from the air by cyclonic action, whilst the rest also rely on filters. Is it true that other companies can not (due to patents, etc.) make vacuum cleaners that work in exactly the same way as a dyson, or is it just an urban myth created by clever marketing on the part of dyson? If anyone (in the UK) has a vacuum they think is comparable to a dyson, I'd love to hear about it, cheers.
Dyson vacuum are terribly overpriced and not nearly as good as their ads state. Besides, when you go to empty that tank you better have the entire machine outside or you'll have dust all over the house. Consumer reports rates vacuums every so often. Their latest top rated machine is the BOSS by Eureka.
Q: I currently have a Bissell bagless. It just seems where I live (rural area) I am vacuuming 3-4 times a week and although I take the vacuum apart and clean regularly, it just doesn't seem to pick-up like I think it should. Anyone have an opinion on the Dyson vacuum cleaners? I am considering purchasing one and would like to know what you like or dislike about it. Thank you
I have a dc15 ball dyson. I love it it sucks up everything. it really works great. and with the lifetime filter i wash that about once a month. the cons.. I like using the floor attachment for the hose for hard floors than the head of the vacuum. but other than that I looooove it!!! plus i like the way it manuveurs easier than others. some say not having a light on this one makes it difficult to see in small places. I have not had that problem.
Q: Currently I have an Electrolux 2 in 1 Pronto but I am not satisfied with this vacuum cleaner because I have to leave it plugged in for hours to charge and recently it has not been picking up the dirt very well.. I use it to clean a linoleum floor. Can anyone suggest a good vacuum cleaner for a linoleum floor that does not have to be plugged in? Thanks.
The miele stick vac is great, it plugs in and has tons of power. Miele, Riccar and Sebo would be the best ones you can buy Be careful of consumer reports, they don't rate everything and honestly half the time they're wrong.
Q: I have a pug that sheds constantly and I have gone through a few vacuum cleaners.
I've found its better to invest in a high quality vacuum than to just keep buying cheap ones. I have a Dyson Pet Hair vacuum and it works great. It's out lasted all my other vacuums.
Q: I want a lightweight, easy to use, vacuum with good suction. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend more than 300.00. Also, does anyone know what is the suction power I am looking for for hosehold use.
Oreck.It's an upright.There are several models,One is $299.00.I'ts very lightweight,suction is powerful.Great household vacuum.
Q: What would you do if your child has phobias of water, darkness, cars, vacuum cleaners and dust?
Desensitize her to her fears. Vacuum: Have her sit on the couch and show her the vacuum but do not turn it on. Point out what every visible part of the vacuum is and explain what the vacuum does. Then, have her touch the different parts of the vacuum. After this, show her how to turn the vacuum on and have her turn it on. Convince her to push the vacuum. Go slowly and, eventually, she will lose her fear of the vacuum. Cars: Show her pictures of cars in her favorite color. Show her different kinds of cars, trucks, vans, buses etc. Tell her how important cars are and that they can take her places like the store, school, the park, etc. Have her sit in the car with you and have a picnic. Allow her to honk the horn, turn the wipers on and play with the radio. Then, plug her in and turn the car on. Tell her that cars are not toys, she should never get in one alone and she should never crawl under one or stand behind one. Later, turn the car on and have her stand outside the car with you so she can experience the noise while you explain car safety to her. Water: Play some fun games in the bathtub. Show her the shower and have her use it to make bubbles in the bath. Put colored bubbles in the water and use toys and such. You can even put on a swimsuit and get in with her so she isn't so afraid. Take her to places where she can play in a shallow pool and where you guys can look at waterfalls. Show her video's of water falls on youtube. Darkness: This is a common fear. Try playing games in the dark, leaving only a night light on. Try eating dinner by candle light and going outside at night to look at the stars. This will help her feel more comfortable with it being dark but she may still need a nightlight at night. Dust: Show her how to draw pictures in the dust. Explain to her that it wont hurt her. Then, show her how to get rid of the dust.
Q: iRobot Roomba Scheduler Vacuuming Robot; does it pick up dog fur from carpets?
I just bought a house 2 months ago and I saw a couple of houses with above ground pools and quite honestly, they were not a bonus, but a big money pit in my eyes. Unless your pool is in nearly PERFECT condition and the deck is big, useable and clean, then it's probably not helping you. Personally, I'd remove the pool and repair the yard where it was - even turn it into a garden spot or something. Pools in general are huge money pits and an above ground pool is never going to last like an in-ground one, so I think buyers will be turned off. Not to mention, most people who have an above ground pool don't live in a neighborhood that has the value to support the pool's cost or the size of yard to really fit it properly. It ends up looking desperate and crammed into a tiny yard. My vote is to remove it.
