Q: In the last three months I have purchased two separate vacuum cleaners from Wal-Mart.....granted they were cheap...but they were also all I could afford. They have both stopped working...the most recent one I got worked great for about a week ( it cost 40 bucks)..and now it gets so clogged up every time I use it, that its pointless to even try...and it leaves black marks all over my carpet, I have to stop and unclog the hose after only doing half a room....plus it isnt even picking n e thing up!!! I am so fed up.....I can't afford an Orek or a Hoover....is there a cheap vacuum that wont quit on me??? Price range from 50-80 dollars????......Please help!!!: There is no good vacuum you're going to get in that price range, sorry to say. I got the Eureka Boss SmartVac at Wal-mart for $138. I've had it for 4 years and it still works like brand new. It does a great job and it was so worth it! Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy, better than Dyson. Q: Just in case the power goes out, I would like to still be able to see where I am vacuuming.Anyone know a vacuum that has an inbuilt light that you would recommend? I know KIRBY make one, but they are very expensive.I am hoping for one at say less than $150 if possible.: how are you going to vacuum when the power is out?

Q: I have a two piece standard Kenmore vacuum (not an upright vacuum but one of those that the hose attaches to the body). Anyways, I was vacuuming and then all of a sudden the roller quit spinning. I thought maybe some string or some other obstruction was preventing the roller from spinning or perhaps the belt broke. But I took everything apart and found out the motor doesn't spin. I can't even spin it manually. If I remember right shouldn't the motor be able to spin freely? My motor is stuck and won't spin and I can't find any obstruction preventing it from spinning.Any thoughts?And secondly, can you clarify if the motor should spin freely when the vacuum is turned off because I could have sworn that in the past if anything got wrapped around the roller (like string) I could easily unwind it.: That motor burned. Need a new one. Good luck...!

Q: why do we use the word vacuum? is a vacuum created inside the appliance?: Fan blades turned by a motor create a suction (partial vacuum' inside the machine which sucks up the dirt. It's similar to you drinking a liquid with a straw. You stick one end of the straw into the liquid and suck on the other end. You create a vacuum inside the straw and it sucks up the liquid to fill the empty space (vacuum).

Q: If sound doesn't travel in a vacuum, Why are vacuum cleaners always so noisy?: Yes, sound does not travel IN a vacuum, but outside of the vacuum it is very noisy, since sound travels very well there. If you were able to get inside of the vacuum (cleaner), then it would be very quiet.

Q: It's not but two years old. Took it to a house with really old electrical outlets/wiring system, plugged it in and it ran. Turned it off, tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on again. No electric box switches were tripped/turned off. Also tried it in outlets in all three rooms but it still didn't turn on. Fo vacuum cleaners have fuses the protect the motor? Any thoughts as to what's going on and/or what I can do (besides buy a new one)? Any advice appreciated.: i think it sounds like you blew the motor.

Q: I am unfamiliar with vacuum cleaner brands or even if vacuum cleaners work on concrete flooring. Basically I am looking for something that will get all the dust and dirt up without having to mop every other week.: i was gonna say it would be best to sweep but maybe a kirby would work good if you want to vacuum
