Q:Hello! I was wondering if Vacuum cleaners get rid of germs. I mean, when I think about it, doesn't it probably suck all the germs up? Perhaps it may not kill germs, but it at least gets rid of them on a particular surface(like the carpet.)And if they don't get rid of germs, than how can I get rid of germs on the carpet? I know that Steam Cleaning and shampooing the carpet are good measures, but I don't want to do that on like a weekly basis. I am looking for something that can get rid of germs at least once a week.: I know all the green people out there will hate my answer, but if you are concerned about germs in your carpet, the best stuff i know is Lysol disinfectant spray. I spray it on my carpets, my mattresses, couch arms, everywhere. It costs, it's not good for the planet, but it works. Vacuums can't vacuum up or kill germs. Sorry. Not yet.

Just a thought :-) Good luck though, and I wouldn't stress about keeping the floor perfect. It might just be easier to do a daily sweep on your hands knees to pick up carpet junk.
