- Q: LOL He barks, jumps, whines and bites at the vacuum while I am using it(and with a black GSD I do have to use it alot!!). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get him used to this? When he was a puppy it did not bother him at all but as he got older, the minute it comes out of the closet he starts whining and barking at it. I have tried telling him NO as I vacuum and he will stop for a 1/2 a minute and watch it but it seems that as I am moving it back and forth across the rug he just can't help himself and he's on it again. I have tried distracting him with toys and cookies to no avail. Short of putting him outside (or in a closet JK) I don't know what to do. Anyone else who had this problem (or not) and may have some help?
- Without some pretty strong detterent for that behavior its not going to go away. I have had to go to a citronella or even shock collar to break other dogs of their instinct to attack a vacuum cleaner. Its clearly a fight or flight reaction. The dog doesnt know exactly what it is but its making a lot of noise and moving in an aggressive fashion. He probably thinks hes protecting you from some crazy animal or something. For know the easiest thing is going to simply be to put him in another room. If you are okay with using a shock collar or other physical method than you can interrupt the process by making him sit and introduce the entire experience to him in stages not allowing any unwanted behavior throughout. So first with a cold water spray bottle you have him sit then bring out the vacuum. Then if he goes for it you spray him. if that works to snap him out of it then you have your training tool. SImply use the spray bottle to pre emptively strike before he acts out but after he startys growling. I hope this helps
- Q: If you have first hand experience with these units, please advise. The idea sounds great; turn it on, leave the house, come home and the whole house is vacuumed, and the unit is back in its port being recharged. Do they do a good job? Do they miss areas like around the chair legs at the dining room table? Do you reccommend a particular brand? Please share your experience.
- I think they are the best hing I ever bought. I just wish it could go up stairs.... but really worth it.and more good luck
- Q: My neighbor recently told me in secret that he got body lice (crabs) from a one night stand about 3 or so weeks ago at a party. The other night he asked to borrow my vacuum cleaner because he was having guests over and his wasn't working properly. Do you think if I get it back it will bring the crabs over to my house? His house is very messy and very dirty. What should I do? Should I just let him keep it for fear of the little critters moving in on me and my daughter? HELP!!!
- It is possible for them to travel on the vacuum but unlikely the chances are greater by having casual contact with him, I wouldn't be overly afraid by somewhat careful until he has been treated for a few days. So yea let him borrow the vacuum and let it sit in garage for a few days before using it
- Q: Especially that guy who sells vacuum cleaners.
- I'm Sweating... There's a reason why the most of Europeans think you Americans are uncultured and stupid... Because the most of American tourists in Europe are uncultured and stupid! As you think that we're all snob and arrogant, we do think that you Americans are stupid hillbillies... Even if both our ideas are wrong and uncultured... Just stereotypes! We're all the same... In the US you have intelligent and cultured people but stupid, uncultured and arrogant people also! The same here in Europe... We have intelligent, open minded people and stupid, pompous people... Anyway British accent is not so terrible for me, even if I prefer to use the American one, more open and informal, I think.
- Q: Are there any products that work well, e.g. cleaners, mops, wet/dry vacuum-mops?
- I use the Swifer WetJet - it is safe for the floor and cleans beautifully!!! It took a bit to dry, but it dries without smearing or streaks. Everything else I've tried leaves streak marks. Also, you can get a $5 off coupon from swifer on their web site. ...otherwise you can follow the advise of the guy who installed my floors...he said just a small amount of dish soap and water, but I found that to leave streaks.
- Q: I have just a small apartment and need to get a small vacuum cleaner. But something that has good suction, and won't be useless after 5 uses. A few years ago, I bought a Bissell quot;stickvacuum cleaner and it was a waste. It barely picked up dirt from a floor, let alone a carpet. Any good suggestion will be appreciated.

- Q: Hello, I'm thinking of purchasing Dirt Devil Vision vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter. I realize those filters are very expensive....how long do they last? (in terms of years, and in terms of how many times you emptied the cup approx).I'm new to vacuum cleaners, open to suggestions! Thanks! (100-200 price range)
- I'm a professional house keeper. NO DIRT DEVIL PRODUCTS!
- Q: What would you do if your child has phobias of water, darkness, cars, vacuum cleaners and dust?
- Desensitize her to her fears. Vacuum: Have her sit on the couch and show her the vacuum but do not turn it on. Point out what every visible part of the vacuum is and explain what the vacuum does. Then, have her touch the different parts of the vacuum. After this, show her how to turn the vacuum on and have her turn it on. Convince her to push the vacuum. Go slowly and, eventually, she will lose her fear of the vacuum. Cars: Show her pictures of cars in her favorite color. Show her different kinds of cars, trucks, vans, buses etc. Tell her how important cars are and that they can take her places like the store, school, the park, etc. Have her sit in the car with you and have a picnic. Allow her to honk the horn, turn the wipers on and play with the radio. Then, plug her in and turn the car on. Tell her that cars are not toys, she should never get in one alone and she should never crawl under one or stand behind one. Later, turn the car on and have her stand outside the car with you so she can experience the noise while you explain car safety to her. Water: Play some fun games in the bathtub. Show her the shower and have her use it to make bubbles in the bath. Put colored bubbles in the water and use toys and such. You can even put on a swimsuit and get in with her so she isn't so afraid. Take her to places where she can play in a shallow pool and where you guys can look at waterfalls. Show her video's of water falls on youtube. Darkness: This is a common fear. Try playing games in the dark, leaving only a night light on. Try eating dinner by candle light and going outside at night to look at the stars. This will help her feel more comfortable with it being dark but she may still need a nightlight at night. Dust: Show her how to draw pictures in the dust. Explain to her that it wont hurt her. Then, show her how to get rid of the dust.
- Q: Do you like Sharks? Why.?
- I believe sharks are awesome creatures. People have made them out to be villains. People are angry at sharks because they someimes bite but consider the fact that when swimming at the beach were in a shared ecosystem. The sharks were there first so we should respect them. If I was a shark I would probably be angry that 100s of people swim around in my home. Also when sharks bite their not necessarly trying to eat someone. They dont have hands and their fins arent effective in feeling something so they use their teeth. Their just trying to feel and unfortunately it involves their teeth but once again its their turf. Sooooo I love sharks because their beautiful enough said : )
- Q: My mom has Parkinson's disease and its hard for her to vacuum. We need a very light but good working vacuum. We need a vacuum cleaner that is very light but still works good. Any suggestions. Any help would be much appreciated.
- There are a lot of 'lightweight' vacuum cleaners available by good brands such as Dyson and Morphy Richards. I would recommend the Dyson but it may still be a little heavy. Your best shot is to take you mum to an electrical store and test a comfortable one. It might be better to get a cylinder instead of an upright so your pushing less weight around.
