- Q: What is the real reason Vacuum Cleaners have a head light on the front of it?
- The lights are useful in dark/low-light hallways or similar area's, under bed's and other pieces of furniture.
- Q: I'm looking to buy one, but don't see any quality reviews, so let's see what the yahoosers say.
- i bought a bissell from wal mart, i think it was 169, a heated power steamer or something like that. i've used it several times (not because it did a bad job the first time, i just have 3 dogs and DETEST pet hair everywhere) anyway, it does an excellent job getting rid of the pet hair, you just have to make sure and clean the brush and bottom of the steamer each time you use it so it doesnt' clog. but anyway, my overall experience is that it did well to clean my old carpets (they were here when we moved in) it dries quickly, it didn't leave a musty wet smell, and it's fast and easy to use. hope that helps
- Q: I have long hair and it gets all over the carpet. The vacuum cleaner is meant to be a good strong one but it can't manage the hair. At best it will put it into clumps. I have to pick it up manually and it's very annoying. Why won't the vacuum cleaner work? Will another one work or am I doomed?
- its not your vacuum cleaners fault. its the fact that your hair sticks to the carpets fibre so well. i have this same problem and my vacuum isnt good enough to do the job. what i do, is a get a broom. it must be very strong and have strong brissles. dont use the pathetic soft broom. the broom i use, is kind of like a scribbing broom used to scrub tiles. so basically just use it like a vacuum cleaner, and it will pick up all that hair from your carpet :)
- Q: My wife and I are stumped trying to find an answer. I have these crazy bouts of itching that is seemingly not stopping. I went to the allergist and had some allergy test ran. He said that I am allergic to dust mites, grass/weed, and cat hair. We have been cleaning our house top to bottom with a Hepa filter vacuum (Dyson) and installed bed covers and pillow covers that are dust mite proof. We have wiped down the walls, the roof, and pretty much everything but the itching continues. I don't go outside much and work from home. Does anyone know of what might cause this? We have ruled out lice or bed bugs. I don't know if it helps much but I've had gastric bypass surgery. Please help...we are driving ourselves nuts with the constant cleaning and vacuuming. I've tried Cortozone 10 and allergy meds but they only seem to put a small dent in the itching.
- Dyson vacuum cleaners are CRAP! If I ever own one, it will be on it's way out the door to the curb (expensive heavy piece of junk Dyson) and my Kirby would still be in my home, running perfect. Dysons NEVER had good suction (and destroys carpets), while the Kirby vacuums have OUTSTANDING suction! If a retail salesman shows you how well it works (in the store), you will be amazed! But that is because the model of Dyson he is using is modified.....Buyer be ware. Dysons are just expensive heavy pieces of flimsy plastic junk and the filter is also CRAP (compared to the Kirby's Hepa filter bag)!
- Q: I have acctually been asking this question for a number of years and have to admit that I am more interested in peoples reaction to the question than in a prosaic answer. However I wouldn't be oppossed to a definative answer from someone who builds the things. Just because I find it a silly place for a headlight doesn't mean theres not a valid reason for it being there.
- so if you have darker carpet you can see the dirt that the vacuum is picking up?! sounds pretty good to me
- Q: Thank you for your help!
- You okorder okorder . Good luck!
- Q: ..... Cheering on an army of vacuum cleaners. I got it from a Jim Morrison poem
- Vacuum cleaners = consumers eating, buying, using, and discarding everything in their paths
- Q: There are many other things in our houses that make a racket, and the dogs and kitties are alright with them, but, drag out the Hoover, and, wow!, it's as if you were coming after them with a chainsaw. Why is this?
- I think it depends on the individual animal, but most are indeed afraid of the vacuum. As others have already said, it's loud and close to the floor. It's strange, though, that I've had a couple of ferrets who only cared about one particular vacuum, but when we got a new vacuum, just ignored it. It seemed to be that only a certain frequency of sound would freak them out -- any other frequency was okay. Strange. Generally speaking, though, I have had many animals who were terrified on the thing, but I've also had animals, ferrets and dogs specifically, who would attack it. So it's fight or flight. Either way, they seem to view the big noise as a threat.
- Q: Is it just me or is anyone else afraid of vacuum cleaners?
- The human males LOVE them. But then you can lick yourself. So it's all the same.
- Q: I have a 2 vacuum cleaners, and I HATE them both! One works okay, but the suction on the hand tool sucks (that one is a dirt devil) and the bissell bagless I have, spills dust/dirt everywhere...I have even taken the whole thing apart and it still is dirty and leaves a mess.I have a baby and a german shepard!Which vacuum works the best for you? the pick-up?
- All bagless machines are no good. They will have good suction power, but very low airflow. You need both airflow and suction power for good cleaning. Bagless systems have to draw air through a very long series of tubes and filters, and this lowers the airflow but it increases the sealed suction. My advice would be to at least get a bagged machine. You've probably heard of dyson (they have GREAT advertising) which is a bagless, but they are not a good machine!! Try and stay away from those brands, it will be much better in the long run. If you have a baby you are probably interested in good filtration. Now, bagless machines and any vacuum from a box store will have poor filtration when comparing them to a high end vacuum cleaner. Miele's for example will bring the air parts per million to ZERO. Most bagless machines will actually raise the airborn particles beacuse even tho they are retaining alot of dirt, they are putting out some dirt in the air and so the particles in the air increases. Riccar, Sebo, Miele, Simplicity and Lindhaus are the BEST vacuums you can get. There are a couple other brands as well, but these are the main ones. Honestly a bissell or a dyson or a hoover or any of those do not compare in quality, filtration, or features. Sure they will pick up good out of the box, but that is not of great value if they don't retain the dirt, don't last longer then 5 years etc... Here are some models i would recommend. The Riccar Standar, Sebo G1 or X4 or Felix, Or the Miele Callisto. Good luck!!
