- Q: Hey guys, I noticed that with heavy use of the power cord to my laptop, a part of the rubber surrounding the cord is open near the insertion part and you can see the wires. I'm just curious how dangerous it is. I don't have another power cord for my laptop, so do any of you have a recommendation for what I can do?
- Use a Popscle stick, cut in half and then attached it with black tape, This will cover texposedoed wires and will also keep the wires straight and keep them from bending. Good Luck Joe The Old Computer Guy
- Q: my friend and i were installing a subwoofer in his car and the rem cable touched the amp and caused a short. the cd player does not turn on any more and we could not find any problem anywhere the only fuse blown was the fuse on the power wire for the amp and that should not have any effect on the cars cd player what could be wrong? (the fuse on the back of the cd player was not blown this leads me to believe there is nothing wrong with the cd player and it is not fried)
- 1, why was the power wire hot, should have the batter disconnected before anything else sounds like it sent a power spike into the cd player, try to manually put power from a known 12v constant course to both the memory and key on power wire to the cd player, if still nothing you have an internal problem with the cd player, if it comes on you have a problem with the car wiring

- Q: Basically, I lost my power adapter to my monitor, and to be honest, I would like to try to avoid buying a new one entirely. I have an old HP laptop power cord that fits into my monitor, but the power specifications on it are different. The power rating on my monitor is 19V and 1.58A. I'm just assuming that's what it needs to run, and that you shouldn't go over that. My power supply from my old laptop converts standard AC into DC at 18.5V, which I'm assuming the difference in voltage between 19 and 18.5 won't really affect anything, but the amperage on my power supply is close to twice as high, at 3.5A output. That's where my concern is, if I where to plug this into my monitor would anything bad potentially come out of it? Don't comment saying quot;Oh, just buy a new one.quot;, I've stated I want to try and avoid that. Thanks in advance.

- Q: Need advice from tech guys. Can I use laptop charger (20v 3.5A) as adapter with IDE/SATA to USB cable to power 3.5HDD in place of (12v 0.8 A) cheap adapter which just got faulty.
- NO!! Don't do that - I got a hard drive in for repair recently where someone did that - she said it fitted so I thought it would be ok, it's got loads of data I need on that drive can you recover it? I was like - not any more I can't. 20v will blow the hard drive. If the PSU has gone on your external drive your best solution is to take the screws out of the external hard drive casing and open it up. You will find inside you have just a standard SATA hard drive.
- Q: My mother has moved to Australia, taking her Fujitsu Siemens (Amilo model) laptop with her. Very shortly after, her power cable stopped functioning, and she would like a new one. Unfortunately, she is not tech-savvy at all and doesn't seem to be able to find the thing online, and I being from Europe, have trouble searching in her stead. I don't even know what an Australian plug looks like and I have no clue regarding the currency...All and any help is much appreciated.
- Just get a small plug adapter in Australia. That will be cheaper than buying a whole new power cable.
- Q: Regarding car audio setup, if I were to have an 8 ga power cable powering an amplifier for subs, what would happen if I were to use a smaller ga grounding cable? What if I used a larger ground cable?
- the ground dose not matter it the power wire if you have a 8 ga power wire your amp needs to be like a 1000 watt amp if you have a 1500 watt amp you need a 4 ga wire and if you have a 2000 and up 0 ga BIG BIG BIG BIG thing from a 1500 watt amp and up you need to a double ground if you dont no what that is its were you take a wire and run it to your car battery and hook it up to the nigative on the battery then run that wire to the ground you have already made run the ground in to your amp this well save you money and time bc if you dont do it it can make your battery frie and you well blow fuses out the ***

- Don't worry too much about what the cord says. Worry about the power requirements on the appliance label, and making sure you are feeding it with the voltage required, with a capacity within the range. In your instance, you will need a converter transformer that converts your outlet voltage to 100V, and has 550 or larger watt capacity.
- Q: I came out The Netherlands but i moved to Barbados somewhere near South-America in the caribbean. so i just plugged my power cable in the socker and first my xbox didnt work so i conected it to a voltage adaptor so my xbox voltage would go down so when i turned it on i was happy because it finally was on but like after ten seconds the little light on my power cable turned red ! does anyone maybe know how to fix this cause i want to play my xbox realy bad lolThanks alot,Greetings Noah.
- attempt taking all the cables out from the back of your xbox and tv and re-attaching them correct. If this would not artwork, evaluate going to the microsoft internet site under the help section, and notice in case you will detect the answer. If not, then ring them up for unfastened and that they permit you to appreciate.
