- Q: My pony is not clipped and I was wandering what weight rug I should put him in in winter if at all. Should I put him in a stable rug when he is in his stable, and should I put a rug on him when he is out?Should I ride him in an exercise sheet as well?
- new zealand rugs are great for colder weather in the outdoor pasture. if your barn is closed off from the wind then a regular fleece rug should do the trick at night. you can ride him with out a sheet on as his fur will keep him warm enough. if you bathe him after you ride him make sure you put a wet/dry sheet so he doesn't get chills and get sick. there are thicker winter coats for barn and stall use for nighttime as well but i think he/she should be good for the most part. BTW, any horses over 12 hands are not called ponies, they are put in the horse category. under 12 hands is a pony technically speaking.
- Q: I have a beige/off white couch (The link is below) and my accent furniture is black/brown. I'm trying to find a rug and drapes to go with what I already have. I really need something to brighten the room a bit and give it a little more character.
- You can use any color you like because all you have are neutrals.
- Q: I have a carpet that I am having removed in order to install hardwood floors. The carpet itself is only about a year old and still in very good condition. (If we didn't have pets we would probably keep it.) We have another house we would like to put the carpet in, but would only like to do so in the form of an area rug. Is this kind of transplant possible? Has anyone ever done this? What are some other options? Thanks!
- Yes you can have it bound at the edges to make an area rug. Call around to carpet showrooms and sometimes even companies that specialize in cleaning area rugs have sources for this project. A warning though. Do not place the bound carpet transformed into an area rug directly on your new hardwood flooring. The backing on carpet will act like sandpaper against the flooring and will scratch it horribly with foot traffic. Use a carpet pad or protector between the new carpet area rug and the hardwood flooring to provide a buffer. You can purchase carpet pad protectors by the size of normal area rugs, 5 x 8 for example.
- Q: Hey everyone I just found ONE carpet beetle larvae under my sheets! Do you think that there are more? How do I get rid of them? Thanks!
- Carpet Beetle Larvae In Bed
- Q: Great landlord. Don't want to damage beautiful floors. Need to have rug lay flat. In living room. Carpet is thin. needs padding
- A true pad won t really work since it ll bunch up,make it to thick and cause a tripping hazard.. What you should use is a special mat made just for rugs over hardwood. This type allows the rug to stay it place w/o slipping and bunch up, allows the wood to properly breathe and not stain the wood . These are bought any where wood and flooring are sold, just get the kind made for rugs over wood. Since you know your rug size you can get the closest size to your rug. You can even cut these and trim them to fit so the whole rug is covered from below. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: I had purple window paint spilled on my carpet and I really need to get it out. Help please??
- Use carpet cleaning machines loaded with steam cleaning advantage. Ordinary carpet cleaners can't remove the paint perfectly but carpet cleaners with steam cleaning feature can easily remove the stains.
- Q: I'm changing the decor of my room. I have 2 dark blue throw rugs that wont match anymore. Instead of buying new ones, I was thinking of bleaching them, then dying them black. Will that work? if so how can I bleach them? I was going to put them in a tote with bleach and water but im not sure how much bleach and how much water I should use.
- It would probably be less hassle to get new ones. But if you want to dye them, here are some tips: do NOT bleach them to remove the chemicals. when you buy the dye, there is also a product that you use before hand (usually in the same section) that removes the old colour, first. Use that instead. You will also have to check the fabric, as dyes can only be used on certain ones.
- Q: Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Thanks...
- Consumer Reports says that for small stains Resolve carpet cleaner is the best
- Q: I have not always found snug bugs in my rugs......so I am taking a poll here today to see if this saying could have some real validity to it. Do YOUR rugs have snug bugs? If so, how many snug bugs can you count in your rugs? And lastly, why on earth do we tolerate snug bugs in our rugs? What think you?
- Let's start with this: what defines a snug bug?
- Q: Is it a good idea to buy hand-tufted rugs as they are inexpensive compared to hand-knotted rugs ? On average how long does both types last ?
- Hand-tufted rugs are made by hand the fibers are gunned in to the backing. They are much nicer than machine made rugs. They are almost always wool and will wear for many years. It depends do you want your rug to last 10-30 years or forever. Hand knotted rugs get passed down from generation to generation. If you like to remodel frequently I would suggest hand-tufted, if you'd like to keep the piece I would suggest hand knotted. Purchase the rug you love. Hand knotted rugs are quite expensive compared to hand-tufted and machine made area rugs. Approximate cost comparison of 5 x 7 area rugs. Machine made area rug $100-$500. Hand- tufted would be $300-$800 Hand-knotted will be $400-$1000 Take care.
