- Q:Can I put Plastic or Ceramic dishes in Microwave? It won‘t burn? every body does that right?
- It will depend. Some plastics and some ceramics are MW safe and some aren't. They will not burn, but those that aren't MW safe can melt or crack. For MW cooking get proper MW plates bowls jugs etc For reheating, most ceramic are safe but you have to be careful with the different types of plastics.
- Q:I have slightly crooked teeth and a sort of crooked bite. Im in highschool so having visible braces would definetly suck. My orthodontist told me that the improved Damon braces are virtually clear. Would it be better to get Damon Braces, metal Braces, or Ceramic Braces? Im 15. Please help!!!
- i had a consultation with both braces as options my dentist told me that damon braces work faster than the plain one but they are pretty much the same.i chose the damon it will cost me 4200!!
- Q:I‘m thinking about broadening my field of expertise(I paint murals) to include painted backsplashes for kitchens and elsewhere. I bought a book on how to lay ceramic tile, I just need to know if there‘s anyone out there with experience in this, and how they felt about it, any ideas?
- I've painted ceramic tiles (to use as coasters), with great success using glossies paint. Just apply it to a clean tile, and then bake it in your oven at the specified temperature time. The end result is a washable, highly usable surface. Mine are now going on 7 years old, and look the same as the day I first painted them. They get constant use, too, which says a lot for the quality of the paint :) Another idea: You can purchase bisqued (fired) tiles at your local clay supplier. With these, apply underglazes (which you paint on like you would oils or acrylics--paint a picture or design, essentially) and then fire. Once the underglazes are fired, coat them with some clear glaze, fire again, and you have your finished work. These would be great for backsplashes. If you want to create a truly custom backsplash, though, you probably want to consider making your own tiles (who says they have to be square??). If you don't have the equipment (it can get pretty costly with a slab roller, kiln, tools, glazes, etc), you should seriously consider taking a class at your local community college or university. If you haven't worked with clay before, it will be good for you to learn the qualities of the medium; the importance of drying times, the advantages of using a particular type of clay, glaze interactions, etc. Good luck! You have a great idea for broadening your horizons!!! :)
- Q:Im 14, and all my friends have gotten their braces on and off. I needed braces. I just got ceramic braces a few days ago. I chose them because ill probably have them through freshman year, and these are less noticeable. I have been looking up about them, and everyone says they stain easily, take longer, look gross, and stick the your teeth. Are these things true? Should I ask my orthodontist to switch to metal? I think they look better, but will they stay that away. If I take care of them, do these things even matter? Thanks.
- Nah, may as well stick with ceramic. The braces themselves don't stain, it's just the ligatures, and if you're just careful about what you eat, it'll be fine. Plus, you can wear light grey ligatures, which aren't AS subtle as clear, but they're actually alright and don't stain as badly. The difference in speed isn't significant. Don't pay attention to that, okay? It's really not an issue. And personally, I don't think they look gross unless you stain the ligs, so just avoid doing that and they'll be fine. I'm not sure what you mean about sticking to your teeth. They're a little harder to remove, but you'll be so happy to be getting them off that it doesn't matter, haha. If I were you, I'd stick with ceramic braces. If you take care of them, they'll be great. :)
- Q:I know this sounds weird, but my friend (who works in a university marine lab and is experienced with fish) and I thought it would be cool and unique to have our next aquarium decorated with colorful and unique dishes. We'd buy good-quality ceramic plates, bowls, mugs, etc. We were also thinking of adding some interesting glasses, like a martini or wine glass (although we'd obviously have to be really careful not to break them during water changes, etc.). Will these items (the ceramics) hold up underwater or will they release anything unhealthy into the tank? We know that algae-eaters (plecos) like wood in their tanks because they grow algae well, so I was thinking we could add a wooden spoon or two. Does anyone know if store-bought wooden spoons are treated with anything that could be dangerous in an aquarium? Any other concerns/problems/suggestions would be welcomed!
- Nice to read your question, as I have been doing a similar thing - I am setting up a four foot tank, using square ceramic bowls as tank decor. I don't have any expert advice though. Glass I think would be the safest. What someone else said about wood being treated sounds plausible though. I must admit I've just put the bowls in, with some hardy little fish, and have had no problems so far (after a week or two). If the 'dry foot' issue is a concern, you could paint the unglazed are with polyurethane varnish. (the aquarium books always tell you to paint things with polyurethane varnish, although I have never done it.) Good luck with it all!
- Q:I road my longboard with bones reds bearings to school in the rain (through puddles etc).and now they spin for about 1-2 seconds.they used to spin for more than two minutes! So, just wondering, what are the cheapest full ceramic bearings to get? I heard that you can ride them in the rain without slowing them down.or should I just lube my reds?
- Don't bother with ceramics, just get some white lithium grease and coat the bearings in it. Also, free spin doesn't mean anything. My bearings all spin for less than 5 seconds, doesn't bother me any.
- Q:What's the difference between ion perm and ceramic perm?
- Ion perm suitable for hot straight hair, ceramic perm, suitable for hot hair. There are many kinds of ion perm, water ions, cations, swimming ions, negative ions, etc., it is difficult to choose for a while. But its general procedures are the same, divided into shampoo, softening, straightening and so on.Now perm is divided into two categories: cold and hot. Is the general meaning of the perm perm, perm moisturizing gel to play after wet when it is rolled, dry when the volume is not good, no hard hit something after the hair elastic. Hot now, sub ion hot, ceramic hot, digital hot and so on. The first softening in the thick stick. The difference between this perm is that it doesn't roll when wet, but when it's dry, it rolls better, and the hair is soft and elastic. Now a lot of pushing digital hot digital hot machine, because the price is not high, it is easy, but bad if the digital hot hot hot and cold, also want to make something moisturizing, if made such an effect, as do the perm, perm to lower the price. But the heat is not a panacea, some hair is going to take to do a perm.
- Q:would ceramic headers be better for my 91 honda civic over stainless steel headers?
- Ceramic dissipates heat better.
- Q:I‘m getting ceramic braces next tuesday. How many people notice them right away? And are you able to get them on the bottom teeth too? I heard that you couldn‘t but I was never told that I had to get metal ones on the bottom instead?
- cermanic braces are nice! they are noticable but in pictures and stuff you cant really see them. umm my ortho told me that having ceramic braces on the bottom is not a good thing. they break if they are on your bottom ones. or sumthin on that order.
- Q:I am getting my fiance a wedding band.He wants a black or almost black band he is left handed so he wants something that will not scratch and is very strong. I was looking a some rings and I know that tungsten is very strong and scratch proof. Is ceramic as resistant?
- Please tell us how one would go about looking for fossils under 10,000 feet of rock. As a rule you have to wait for erosion or geological activity to bring fossils to the surface. Think before you make unwise assumptions.
