Q:Hi! so it‘s getting close to Christmas time, and every year i like to make things for my older sister. For example, last year i bought a mid sized mirror with a wooden frame from a.c. moore, and painted the frame and put pictures from her wedding (which was in the previous october) all along the frame. but my point is, i like to make handmade things, but ones that look really nice. ANYWAYS, this year, since her and her husband will be moving into a new house in january, i wanted to make them something they could use in their home. i was thinking of making her hand-painted plates that are dishwasher safe, but i wasn‘t sure where to purchase plates that i could handpaint, and what paint to get, and how to get them safe to eat off of, and dishwasher safe. so if you guys know any details that would be greatly appreciated, as i have absolutely no clue how to do this!! thanks!!and if anybody has any other homemade gift ideas that are nice, please let me know!!: ceramic plates are made from clay, you mix it up pour it in a mold bake it at 500 deg for 12 hrs in a kiln let it cool for 6 hrs paint it then re fire it, try a Ceramic shop

Q:i want too get my babt iguana a ceramic heat emitter but i have no idea what wattage too get as i know they get very hot and i dont want too make his basking spot too hot that he cant use it. i currently have him in a 75 gallon fish tank made into a terrarium.it is 21 inches high and about 10 inches from the lamp i have a shelf for him too bask. i have a heat lamp rated at 150 watts with a ceramic fixture so im ready too get it i just dont know what wattage wont burn him.before i get comments the lamp is not in the tank its blocked by a screen lid. and any other random info you feel like giving i might learn something i didnt know. Q:Well I made this gorgeous plate fired it, painted it and glazed it, fired it again. It came out amazing great colors absolutely beautiful. Today my teacher wanted me to bring it in another room to see if it would fit on a plate holder. After that I bring it back into the other room and it dropped out of my hand. I feel so terrible (even right now typing this) I even cried. Well the pieces are big, medium, small. Is there a glue or a trick to fix this? A teacher told me to use a certain type of glaze to glue it then glaze it again and fire it. I am worried this won‘t work and will never be fixed and break in the kiln. Do you have any tips or any suggestions to fix this? Please give your opinions and what you know. Thanks: I do understand as I do ceramics and I've had really pieces that I spend a lot of time on break, or not make it all the way through. You know what I say now? It's just dirt. If you made it once, you can do it again. You can try to fix it but personally, I think it's way more fun to make another one.

Q:We live in a all electric house that has a heat pump. I stay at home with the kids so am home all day. Will turning down the thermastat and using ceramic heater fans to keep the house warm help keep the electric bill down? What we thought is since we will be keeping the house warm with 2 fan heaters the heat pump does not run,. We assume that the heart pump usses more electricty haveing to come on insterad of running the fans. Q:I‘m trying to find 2in ceramic figures (miniature people) Like the ones you find in Christmas villages? Painted or unpainted. I‘d like to try making just a couple. I been on the net and seem to only find expensive already finished figures.: Unfired ceramics or ceramics that are fired but not glazed or painted are called green-ware. They're sold in ceramic hobby shops. You can probably find them in the Yellow Pages under Ceramics.

Q:great feature of ceramic hair irons?: the best detergent i've found is tide with bleach alternative. don't know what the alternative is but i know it works because i'm really anal about my colts stuff. everything i wash with this soap doesn't fade my favorite stuff. it goes in blue, and comes out blue. if you use this, and it still fades, it might be the water, maybe. hope this helps.
