Q: Are ceramic braces only for adults?
Most orthodontists offer clear ceramic braces to anyone at any age. The ceramic braces work the same way as metal braces, except they can be a little more fragile. Many orthodontists will not put ceramic braces on the bottom teeth because your top teeth may bite into them and cause damage to your top teeth.
Q: Does McCain really have ceramic eyeballs?
You probably need to replace the rest of the tires, and not only get them balanced, but check the belts, too, just in case! Depending on where you go, it shouldn't cost too much money, but would definitely be worth it in the long run.
Q: Ceramic is rough, should not be high temperature, porcelain is smooth, there is a high temperature, this statement is correct?
Yes, but not just such a difference, there are differences related to: pottery and porcelain is as follows: first, the sintering temperature of different pottery firing temperature is generally lower than the lowest porcelain, even up to 800 DEG C, up to 1100 degrees celsius. Porcelain firing temperature is relatively high, mostly at more than 1200 degrees Celsius, and even some to about 1400 degrees celsius. Two, different degree of hard pottery firing temperature is low, the body is not completely sintering, struck a voice asked, hardness is poor, and some can even draw with knife grooves. The porcelain firing temperature is high, the basic matrix sintering, when knock sound is ringing, it is difficult to draw the carcass surface grooves with general steel. Three, the use of different raw materials, pottery using ordinary clay can be made into a billet firing, porcelain needs to select a specific material to kaolin on the billet. The firing temperature needed in pottery, can become like ancient pottery, white pottery is burnt. The clay made of kaolin at the temperature required for firing porcelain becomes porcelain. But the clay made of clay, usually made of pottery, can not be porcelain when it is fired to 1200 degrees centigrade. It will be burned into glass. Four, transparency is different, the body of pottery, even thinner, does not have translucent features. For example, Longshan culture pottery, as thin as eggshell, but not transparent. China has the characteristics of both the matrix thick, translucent. Five, glaze different, pottery has no hanging glaze and hanging glaze two kinds, hanging glaze pottery glaze at lower burning temperature can melt. There are two kinds of glazes in China, which can be burnt once in a high temperature with the carcass, and also in low temperature and high temperature, and then hung with low temperature glaze, second times low temperature.
Q: Hello I have a fuji sl1 with kysrium elite wheels by mavic, and a ultegra sl drivetrain, i would like to know what brand of ceramic bearings should i go for. Thanks
My advice is to forget ceramic bearings. They won't make you go faster unless you are an elite racer looking to shave a few seconds off of a long time trial. I am pretty sure that all the bearings on your bike except the bottom bracket and headset are cup and cone with loose bearings. Take the time to completely overhaul the surfaces- remove the bearings, clean all surfaces of the factory grease, and reinstall with white lithium grease. Don't pack the bearings- Coat the races with a small amount of grease- just barely enough to coat it- and roll each bearing between your finger until thinly coated. Do this every 1500 miles and you'll be far ahead of the ceramic bearing peloton. If you really want to go overboard get some high grade stainless steel balls from your local bearing supplier.
Q: glass-ceramic production
Melt it and form it like glass. Bake it in a kiln and it becomes glass-ceramic.
Q: I bought some plain white, glossy, glazed ceramic food canisters (for flour, sugar, etc) to have my young child paint them. I‘m finding sites saying to use 150 grit sandpaper, use a primer and then acrylic paints, and seal the canisters. My question is what kind of sealant is safe/good to use on the outside of the canisters that would withstand handwashings? Isn‘t 150 grit too coarse? Thanks!
I wouldn't use acrylic paint on any ceramic thing that I ever wanted to wash. Too hard to get it to stick, even if you sand first and yes, I would use a finer grit sandpaper. They do, however, make exterior grade acrylic varnishes, sold in the same place as acrylic craft paints and if you wanted to use this method they are what i would use to seal the paint. They are quite good; I have an item with that varnish on it which has been outdoors for two winters now and the varnish is unaffected. There is paint made specifically for use on glazed surfaces. Pebeo is the brand, most craft stores sell it, and if the painted item is baked then the paint is even dishwasher proof. Even if you don't bake it, it will stand gentle handwashing quite a few times.
Q: Im a following my teachers outline to do the powerpoint, and im doing the Incas and i had to make an art piece. Basically i got everything finished except this slide and i still dont get it its called Contribution to Ceramic Art History, i have friends said its what i understand while doing it or someone said something to show the difference of past to now or hook it up to the incans work. Im not sure would u give me an example thank u
it means what your research work has contributed to art history every potter has their own 'take' on art and because it is so hands on your piece is unique and must be added into the whole body or art history as it too could be found hundreds of years from now and what would people make of it so you have made some sort of homage to the ceramic work of the Incas and this is your place in the history - I always feel - when I pot - some link to all the men and women in the past who made for family reasons - to hold water and grain and party drinks something that links us to all that family life and as far as I know clay was never used for war so just by being part of that chain you have entered into the collective memory and have a piece that even if it gets broken can be found and analysed in the future to determine its origin.
Q: So I‘m taking a ceramics class and i was making brass knuckles for fun. After a while i decided just to go along with my piece and actually finish it. But I wanted to know can they break if i playfully punch someone with them. (keep in mind, I‘m NOT going to use them for fighting at all) Or will they break since its just clay?
If what you made is just dried and not fired, it is at it's most fragile and will have the least resistance when pressure is applied. It is in essence just dried mud and if tossed back into a bucket of wet clay will revert back to wet clay itself and can be reused. If you fire it once, it becomes bisque and at that point cannot be reclaimed as clay. This is a much firmer form but will still break like any other ceramic when sharp pressure is applied. You could glaze it and fire it again which would add to the hardening factor, but it would still be far more fragile than metal. Probably just playing around with them after they are finished will not break them, but if you treat them like they are glass they will probably last much longer. Considering that they are being used (gently) by the part of the human anatomy that generates the most controlled and effective smashing force (the fist), your greatest loss factor would be if they were dropped. Of course, if someone else fooled around with them, all bets are off. Have fun!
Q: Why can't we freeze the ceramics?
An ordinary ceramic cup can hold things and can be put into the freezer of the refrigerator. Its disadvantages are brittleness and can not be changed by sudden environmental temperature. (i.e., not just from the refrigerator sometimes hot and sometimes cold, take out, add boiled boiling water, nor just came out from the steamer with, put it in cold water, so are the reasons. The ceramic burst)
Q: A friend I are joining our talents with some of my already made jewelry accessories to make a small business. Yesterday we were doing decoupage ceramic tiles and we tried drilling through one, which took forever, and I never got through. I used many of the heads that came with the rotary tool my dad is letting me usenone worked better than the others.!? So we ending up just hot gluing ribbon to the back to string them. But what can I do about the drill situation?!
you need a bit made for tile otherwise you will be drilling forever ,go to a hardwhare store and get a drillbit made for tile you'll notice the bit for tile tile looks a little different from the ones you been useing it should have a special head on it to get through that tile . good luck ladies )
